So it appears NATOR Houston has some bad juju going on; I think the Hondouches are praying to the Elder Gods or something. But we have been having a bad month.

I'm the newest one on the list. Got rear-ended this morning. Slow speed (<25mph) but the back end of mine gave it up like a whore. Kinda surprised at all of the crush points on these cars. At the body shop now, claims adjusters getting back to me in the next business day. His insurance is gonna get it, hard, when I get done with them. Company truck, so no mercy.

Nahh, driver side tail lights are both fucked. Maybe I can sneak the LED tails out of the tech package by, gonna look into the docs in VIP later to check the wiring specs.

I made sure to get all the paperwork in order, there was no way I was letting anything slide.

He had to write up two accident reports at the same time, tried to talk both groups out of reporting it. I got hit because the kid was looking at the accident that had already happened in the next lane. Typical rubber-necking shit. And cop wanted to half-ass both of them. And it was early in the day, so he's just planning to be a lazy fuck all day.


Ooo exciting news. I already took a page out of @gitarpik's book and asked the shop to paint match the rear bumper insert to the grill. Might have to have them look into LED tails too. Gonna get as much as possible out of this. Including diminished value. And no Carfax if everything goes well. I think I'm going to like the shop it's at right now.

When my pu got hit in the bum I had them paint the lower bumper area charcoal metallic, same color as the front grill

since they probaby have to replace both tail lights, i would provide the additional cash and get the LED's

Yeah, I already mentioned the paint cause I remembered your thread, so thanks for the idea. And I really want to try to swing the LED tails, and I'm going to try my best. But only one side tail is damaged, so I don't know if they'll be able to pull it off. Might have to sneak back over to the body shop after close and hit the right one with a bat. And I'm definitely not signing off until I push for diminished value. This car only has 8700 miles and I'm still underwater on it, so they are going to have to cover how much this will hit my trade value.

Also I'm not signing off on it or leaving the shop until they check the alignment and true-ness (best word I can come up with) of the frame.

Yeah, luckily the laws in TX seem pretty cut and dry about it, from the tiny bit of reading I've been able to do about it this afternoon. Looks like I'm entitled to it since it's at-fault and I'm filing against his insurance. And I have two years to make the claim, but I'm doing it as soon as it's out of the shop. Mod money from their insurance? Yes, please!

As for how long I'll be without it, no clue yet, since they haven't been out to assess it yet. But it's at the body shop right now just waiting on insurance to go through. I had it towed straight to the body shop and got all of the paperwork rolling immediately. I'm not wasting any time and giving no fucks on making sure this is done right the first time. :chairshot:

I almost joined you this morning, but I pray to the zoom zoom gods every time I get in my car. Lol. Some dude in a work truck locked his brakes up and went skidding on to the wrong side of the road almost passing me, all because there was a school bus stopping our traffic around a blind curve.

The guy in front of me, myself and the guy in the truck behind me all had a "oh shit" moment. Guy in front braked hard, I downshifted and braked hard and all I heard was Errrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Was waiting for the bang, but he was on the wrong side of the road next to my back bumper.

Lucky as fuck he couldn't turn the wheel to stay in the lane. He probably would have taken that option versus risking a head on collision as we couldn't see around the turn. But instead of turning, that motherfucker kept plowing straight ahead. :)

I can't even tell you how many time I avoided accidents on 290, beltway 8, and 610. I have no idea why Houston does not have the highest insurance in America lol.

Houston insurance may not be the highest in the country, but it is high as fuck. 1/3 or more than what it was in Michigan.

Yeah, I actually took it very well, didn't yell at the kid or anything. Wasn't too worried about anything once I saw he had insurance, since I knew he was 100% at fault so everything would be taken care of with no out of pocket for me. I didn't even get too sad and depressed about my car being down.... until I got in the rental. Fuck that car. Now I want my baby back already. No real anger yet, accidents happen.

Of course I say all this now, before his insurance has tried to screw me over and given me the run around. We'll see how long I stay calm if they give me the run around.

The law in my state is that any car 30 months or newer, you can require the shop to use new OEM parts OR you can opt for aftermarket shit, but you have to declare this otherwise the shop will get the cheap stuff, and say they got OEM so they can pocket the rest of the money.

Insurance companies want to pay as little as possible
Body shops want to use as little of the money that insurance pays as possible
nobody is looking out for you except for you

Appraiser's estimate came through: $4674 just after visual inspection, with room for supplements based on them finding more during the teardown... Yeah he fucked the back of my car.

$450 to shop for new exhaust parts? Yes please! Now what to get....

And shop got it cleared and already ordered 100% brand new dealer parts, no aftermarket or used shit going on my car!

Magnaflow cbe ordered. Better not take 3 weeks and hold up the rest of the repair....
