(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Found a few stock dyno sheets but none with just an AP.I really don't think I'm going to go crazy with my speed3 but I thought about going to Cobb in Plano this weekend and picking up an AP. I am curious roughly how much hp I should get, the site does tell you, but I wanted to see from the people that have them or been around them. This would be using the Stage 1 map. The main thing I want fixed is: I hate the lack of boost in 1-3 gears, does the AP get rid of that? |

Second- I'm not sure if the AP gets rid of the lack of boost in 1-3. It is there because of your fail wheel drive. Third- Do more research. You aren't even close to knowing what's going on and there is still plenty to learn.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I have a tread in the dyno results section where I did a stock run, a run with the AP and a run tweaking the Cobb map. I bought my AP from the Plano location as well.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I've been running my AP on stage 0 since I haven't had money to set aside for parts. The car does gain more, nothing like it would with an intake and OTS map, but its still a little more, plus its the foundation for every other mod for these cars. That and upgraded fuel delivery. Like other said, it would benefit you greatly to research this platform. When I first got this car at the end of 09 I had gotten a dp and then an AP by 2010. In 2011 my turbo blew its seals after a couple thousand miles. Luckily I was still under warranty and stocked out... Anyways, grab that AP and pick up a Sri intake while you're there, only 175 more bones and will deliver the gains you probably want.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Thanks Phoenix, I saw it now. Yeah I read everything and know the path but just wanted to see what just an AP does, doesn't look like much, so guess I will get an intake too. So it doesn't fix the limited boost in 1-3? |

| Not Ranked : 0 score A proper tune for this car will get you more bang for the buck than any other bolt on modification at any current level of modification and the same applies to otherwise stock cars.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Stage 0 with stock intake keeps the boost/throttle limiters. Even in third gear, although it is slight. See pics. Stage 1, even with stock intake, has the boost/throttle limiters completely removed (all values in the pics for that map are 1.0)

| Not Ranked : 0 score My suggestion (take if for what it's worth): I would start with an intake and a RMM. If you still have the MOD bug, then consider an HPFP and buy an AP at the same time.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Currently I'm running Stage1 93 with an Aeros intake. Feels much stronger than stock. Waiting for the HPFP internals to come out of back-order from StreetUnit to install my Cobb Downpipe I've had sitting here for a few weeks! Curious to see what it feels like with Stage2.
Very sage advice. The two practically "must-haves" for the MS3 platform are an intake and RMM. While the Cobb AP is integral in getting the most out of your mods, and down the line going further- it's far from the biggest bang for the buck mod. Another excellent mod (while not for power) would be a short-shifter plate, anchors, and a weighted shift-knob. Obviously does nothing towards making the car faster but sure does make it a lot more fun to drive.

AP and custom tune. Maybe rmm upgrade and fuel pump internals if needed. I'm seeing the benefit of a custom tune with my de-mod back to stock air box.

The AP is absolutely the biggest bang for your buck. Every other power mod is inefficient or dangerous (e.g. DP, TP, etc.) until you have an AP. The stock tune is so conservative that even getting a OTS map is a wonderful change. Add in the fact that you can tune for specific parts and get yourself a custom e-tune, and it's absolutely the best mod. just look at what @Bucker was able to get out of a stock car with just an AP. on top of that, you can monitor what is going on with your car. that alone makes it worth it. knowing your FP and KR is so important. IMO, internals, an AP, intake and RMM are must haves. But an AP and internals are the most important.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I used to go back and forth between stage1+SRI (daily) and stage0+stock intake (autox stock class) and the difference was dramatic. A couple of times I got lazy and left the stock intake on the car and just flashed the stage1 tune. I love how quick and stealthy the car is with just a tune. @Bucker was able to get 40+ whp out of just a tune on an otherwise stock car. Tune>intake no question. Best bang for the buck mods: AP, RMM, RSB. Completely transforms the car for under $1k.

| Not Ranked : 0 score When I was stationed at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center we could buy gas on base for $0.74/gallon while people off base were paying over $2.00/gallon.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Why are we even discussing this useless shit? Brownies with no experience are trying to tell us that gearheads and knowledgeable people dont know what they are talking about? AP is the single largest gain over any mod...

| Not Ranked : 0 score Mostly intellectual curiousity and seeing what can be done with a custom tune since by FAR, the AP is the biggest bang for the buck. Bucker got some nice results with tuning the stock setup and Rob told me he ran the stock air box for a long time. So far we've gotten good results so its been fun.
