With regards to the OP, do you really want to be 'that guy with the obnoxious exhaust' in your neighborhood? Granted there always has to be one. If the position just opened up in your hood. Go for it.

Thank you -- I didn't feel the need to have to expound any further as far as that is concerned. You're mostly right -- the straight pipe setup are my only mods, aside from a K&N panel filter but I don't really count that as part of the mod list. Heh, funny that someone could come to this conclusion yet it seemed to be quite hard to determine for some of the more smart-mouthed posters.



I'm sure this doesn't have to be said, but I'll go ahead and waste these extra few seconds of my life to say that it is my car and all that matters is whether or not I like it. By the way, most people break their necks staring whenever I drive by. My MS3 is matte black too -- painted it myself using the kit from DipYourCar.com.



Obviously I'm here to piece information together. Is that not the point of a forum of this kind? Shit man, the time you guys waste talking down on others with your unwelcoming attitudes literally makes me not want to post actively... God FORBID I ever get a piece of information wrong. Anyway, to answer your question, under any type of throttle, the boost is spooling up probably around a second or so after it's applied (the colder weather could also contribute to this). The free-flowing nature of the exhaust allows the car to pull much better throughout all RPM ranges. At higher MPH, the pull doesn't drop off around 80-100 -- it keeps pulling. Feels as if there's an SRI installed. Only thing negative that I'd noticed from removing the cat is that wafting smell of unburnt fuel and gasses occasionally floating into the cabin but that goes without explanation.






Anyway, thanks to those who didn't feel the need to slander me. Highly appreciated. I'll check back on this post later today or tomorrow.
Still haven't seen a mod list.

If a panel filter and a straight pipe are you only mods. Are you prepared for a vented block mod. I really hope you have an AP or zzb is in your future

How dense can you be? You claim you've read - you're a liar: you wouldn't be "looking into" the AP.

If you had even one iota of knowledge, you'd have upgraded internals and an AccessPort at a minimum with the exhaust mod you're running.

The advice here is being given to you repeatedly for a reason - it's the best advice. We have stickies and how-to threads galore, all to guide fresh, un-lubricated noobs like yourself to the promise land of safe tuning and maximum performance. Read the advice, read it again, ask questions if you're not 100% certain, and then apply it after reading some more.

OP, post the video u said u could supply. This is how u do it, turn ur car on from a cold start, make sure its about 40 degrees or so outside, and just rev the fuck out of it numerous times so we can hear the ferociousness of ur "straight pipe"

Also, all that flow in the exhaust needs to be supplied by air going in. That can't happen unless you have a polished internals and manifold on the intake side. I found this helpful thread on audi forums of all places. You will wanna do this to help the turbo supply enough air to the straightpipe

FYI, I made 415whp with the stock CBE and my logs showed that upgrading to a free flowing CBE was worth about 20 HP at the ~440whp level. The stock CBE is actually very free flowing.

You can reasonably expect to get about 20 extra decibels of noise and less than 5 hp extra from deleting all the mufflers/resonators on the CBE on a stockish setup.

Personally, I cannot recommend any changes to the stock CBE for power until you are BT as the gains (except for noise) will be very minimal.

Yesterday marked one week since I've done the cat delete, and still no CEL as of yet. Guess you guys don't know everything, huh? Needless to say, it's been several key cycles.

I've been speaking to someone who is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to the Genpu MS3 platform (running meth and E85) and he'd told me that since the only mods I currently have are the straight pipes from the turbo back, a catless exhaust couldn't possibly fluctuate the ATF ratio enough to put me anywhere near risk of ZZB nor could that alone put enough wear on my stock HPFP to cause any real issues. Judging by the fact that I didn't even get a CEL, I'd say he's right. Our engines are DISI and even though more mods/air = less fuel to compensate, this alone could not throw off the 'balance' enough. He also went on to tell me he ran an exhaust, catless test pipe, intake, BOV and a turbo inlet before doing internals and had zero issues. He'd explained to me that the increase in pickup isn't coming from more boost being put through to the engine -- the removal of the cat wouldn't increase boost. The extra pickup is coming from the removal of the restriction from the cat itself -- long story short, take the cat out of the way and the car will pick up quicker due to there being absolutely no restrictions in the exhaust. The car runs noticeably richer, yes, due to the unburnt fuel and whatnot not being monitored, but overall there hasn't been much change.

Of course he went on to advise me that if I was planning on adding mods on top of what I have done now, then it'd be time to do internals and get that AP but as of now, I'm fine.
