Default Gas mileage :-)

Hey everyone I ve run about 7 tanks of fuel since purchasing my 2010 MS3 a few months ago.

Up to this point I am averaging almost 28 mpg (27.6).

While 70% of my driving is highway, i still like to have some fun, and was surprised how well it's doing.

Matt

Cool story bro!

If good gas mileage makes you happy buy a Prius or Volt or whatever piece of shit the tree huggers come out with.

Descent gas mileage makes me happy because it saves me a little cash.

I don't think I would have bought A MS3 if i was a tree hugger...

Don't pay attention to those guys. There's an entire thread on here about tuning for fuel economy. It's called, "MPG TOONING," and is full of some pretty impressive results. Mind you, once you have a Cobb AP, you can tune for both fuel economy and performance, and YOU CAN HAVE BOTH IN THE SAME TUNE!

At the moment, my MS6 is getting ~32-33mpg highway and low 20's in the city (plenty of hills).

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the AP is a worthwhile investment, particularly if you do long-distance driving. Mine paid for itself in gas savings in about 6 months.

^^ This. If it's the dash readout, it will invariably be inaccurate, as it's an estimation based on the driving during the previous and current tank. You're always best-off calculating by hand.

If this is the dash readout, Id bet its actually getting something like 20-22MPG.

I'd suggest that one of the first things you should do is to donate to the site so you can gain access to the VIP area.

In there, you'll find something called, "Abilor's Tuning Guide" and another guide by "Bucker". Read those until you understand what they're telling you, then jump over to the MPG TOONING thread and...well...PROFIT!

Since we're apparently talking about this...Usually getting a calculated low 24.x mpg around town. Most tanks are 85% city driving and 15% rural back roads. I try to keep it out of boost when going to and from work or have the dog in the back. Though I rarely have a choice on the way to work anyway.

On the highway going to central jersey from MD I calculated about 27.5. I made the turnpike my bitch.

This isn't on my dash, it's calculated.

Not that it matters, but ya it cost me $55 To fill up this morning.

And? It cost me ~$50 the last fill up too, then I went and burned basically that whole tank off that afternoon just for fun.

I don't look at cost when filling up. It is what it is, I can't change it, and you gotta pay to play.

You want to talk mpg, I got 12 (it's like golf right, lower the number the better it is?) in my truck that was my daily driver before the MS3. I'm happy with the 18.5 to 20 I get now with all the stop signs, lights and traffic I have to deal with.

25.5 Overall here and that is driving like a absolute fucking masshole on my 32 mile commute on some of the worst highways in the country. Seriously who the fuck needs a Prius find me another car with the mix of fuel economy and power other than the MS3.

At 4000 miles I'm at 25.3mpg calculated. That includes 5 or 6 autocrosses.
I can't complain.

I can't drive this car without boost, I have tried. Just don't have the patience to take off slow. I don't figure mileage but get about 280 miles before I get to 1 or 2 bars on the gauge. I figure anything above the 10 to 12 my truck gets is wonderful.

Based on the manufacturer sticker, the average is less than 25! I also average above 27mpg with a heavy foot and mixture of city/hwy. Ignore the first couple of ms3 douches. Typical for this forum.

It's nice to hear others are getting good gas mileage as well. I average 29 calculated. I don't floor it everywhere and most of my driving is back roads, some highway, a few lights here and there. And I want to point out that one of the best things I love about this car is the highway MPG. I get a real 29-30 MPG when driving a normal speed 75-80 MPH. I don't have to slow down to 65-70 to get that kind of MPG. It's one of the best cars for MPG for highway driving I have ever owned. Compare that to 17-18 MPG I got in my 2010 WRX, exact same driving style!

Agreed. Although my car appreciated doing 65-70 much more than 75-80.

Luckily most highways in NY are 55-65 speed limits.....

I don't know what I get because who gives a fuck. if you wanted great gas milage you should trade it in for the new 3 sedan that gets 40 mpg's. I have done what I have to the speed because it is an amazing car, not because it gets great gas milage.... With that said good for you

Averaging about 17-18mpg overall on my full tanks. Car just has a short ram and turbo inlet pipe. I got the car to have fun with so, i have fun with it and still get 18mpg as the cars rated at.
