Perhaps the 2014 Mazdaspeed 3 will simply be a carryover and the 2014 regular 3 will be the 3rd gen. I guess it doesn't matter for me anyway...I plan to get a 2013 MS3 ASAP :D

ASmith 03-05-2013 09:56 PM

New Mazdaspeed 6 could be interesting!

Mr.Bison 03-07-2013 12:45 PM

Too much brown in here.

I hear that if you lock your gen1 with your gen2 in a garage at night, when you wake up the next morning there will be a gen3 speed with 500whp awd but it cant move without hpfp upgrade

Don't take my word for it though, I heard this from the district japenese mazda planner dealership of mazdaspeed so obviously it holds SOME water

You need a dictionary far more than the MS3 needs a HPFP upgrade. I'm a nice guy so I'll help you out a bit...

There, I took the extra 5 seconds to type your post in a way that separates you from a 5 year old. Was it that hard? No.

You're clearly one of the "bros" on this forum. Let me know how many high fives you get for that google link. Clearly, you are cool around here. :bow2:

Keep in mind, it wasn't just "brownies" that put their 2 cents in this thread. It's called a conversation, and anyone can join with their opinions and thoughts on the matter.

Here ya go, sport.

Nice try for you; I'm not the person that started this thread. Hence the reason I am here to speculate...

This chassis does have AWD versions, look at the I models in japan are awd also the shared chassi with volvo if I'm not mistaken came in awd. Justsayin

When I throw the dog a bone, I don't care if it tastes good or not.

ASmith 03-12-2013 07:21 PM

So far it's not looking good for the 2014 MS3...it would be sweet if there was a new Speed6 though. AWD and a 2.5 liter turbo with Skyactiv would be awesome!

Renn 03-17-2013 11:43 AM

Speculation aside, some things we're mostly sure of:

1)The 2014 6 "is claimed to weigh as little as 2954 pounds" (quoted from Automobile, from a Mazda source), and "the Euro-spec sedan with a 2.5-liter gasoline engine, automatic transmission and i-ELOOP brake energy regeneration system weighs 2,992 pounds"
(linky), which is incredible if true. The chassis of the 2014 6 has the skyactiv treatment like the CX-5.
2) The CX-5 and new 6 share architecture, so the CX-5's awd could end up on an MS6.
3) awd adds about 150 pounds to the CX-5.
4) Mazda has to meet strict average mpg minimums, and a 2.0 with twin scroll turbo would get much better mileage than a 2.5/single scroll (think 328i), with comparable performance.

So, use that to build a pretend 2015 MS6 in your head :D

The chances of a 2.5l turbo from Mazda are pretty much nil. I really hope I'm wrong.

ASmith 03-18-2013 06:23 PM

Thanks for the info, a 2.0 liter with dual scroll turbo would be interesting. I'm kinda thinking that it's most likely we will be seeing the return of the MS6.

I am hearing a lot of talk of the new speed being a MS6 again...until your post I didn't realize that BMW had gone to a 2 liter 4 in the 328i. I have actually been looking at that car too now...I love Mazda but it's pretty nice. Of course it has a nice price tag also...

Illusion 03-29-2013 01:50 AM

I hope i dont get crucified for saying this....

perhaps a Speed RX-9?

Darth_Nuruodo 03-29-2013 09:40 AM

You would get crucified for saying that by rotards, for not knowing the proper numbering mazda uses. You don't want an rx-9, that would be the equivalent of a your door family sedan. Want a new rx-7. 2 door coupe ftw.

Tapa who tapa wha??

jambisgone696 03-29-2013 10:13 AM

I heard that MS3 doesn't exist anymore...it's supposed to come back with a 2 doors version of the mazda6 with 2.5l turbo and AWD

and no more mazdaspeed3 or 6.....just Mazdaspeed!
(i'm working in a dealer and it's the latest news)

GODO 04-03-2013 09:54 PM

Dealer told me a week ago there will not be a gen 3 coming out. Per dealer, Mazda is working on new RX-9. Don't really know what to believe anymore.

Sweetsandman 04-04-2013 05:29 AM

Perhaps y'all will finally come to grips with the fact that dealerships don't know shit about what is and is not coming out especially when it comes to performance vehicles. When I worked at a Chevy dealership...do you know how many times I heard "the new Cruze SS is coming out at the end of this year." Yeah...that was in 2011...then again in 2012.

And in 09 when I was shopping for a Speed3...the dealer told me to wait for the 2010 because it was going to be a 2.5 turbo with 300hp...yeah...they sure have the inside scoop.

I Tapped that

shadow102 04-04-2013 07:07 AM

Lol the internet knows things WAAAAYYY before the dealer ever does. My dad calls me up asking about a recall on his rav4 before its even in my computer system at work because he saw it on the internet.

ms3rick 04-04-2013 07:09 AM

I want a speed 6 :)

ASmith 04-04-2013 10:52 PM

After reading this thread and doing research I am only certain of one thing. There isn't going to be a 2014 Mazdaspeed 3. Other than that I'd say I'm starting to get pretty confident that we will see a 2014 Mazdaspeed 6...

dubtastic 04-05-2013 05:19 AM

Given the importance and popularity of the 3 it seems only reasonable that we will see another version of the speed3.

Another abstract reason for this would be due to the Focus ST. I can't see Mazda backing away from its hot hatch competition especially when they share quite a bit in platform. I would venture to say we may even get a bit more ST in our next speed3, meaning we may lose the LSD and go to a trick revo knuckle or brake control system. Awd will certainly be out of the pic for the 3/speed3.

Why does anyone doubt we won't see another speed3?

Because no spy shots at the infamous Ring in Germany as of yet.

Agreed, but I think still a bit early for that. The new 3 is barely breaking ground so at very least 6 months to a year before we see a new speed 3 starting to peek out.

GrFa 04-05-2013 09:21 PM

I don't think we are seeing a 2014 Mazdaspeed product at all. Why do I think this? Because I work at a dealership. We haven't even heard anything about the 2014 or 2015 3 let alone future Mazdaspeed product.

I'm still hoping for an NC with the 2.3 DISI, like how the NB got the Protege Speed engine.

This was never the case and the protege speed engine was a boosted fs that blew frequently. The miata had the boosted bp motor

Mizzle 04-05-2013 10:36 PM

2.0 SkyactivD twin-turbo @ 300 hp & 400 tq mated to a 6-speed manual attached to an AWD drivetrain pinned beneath a sedan or wagon.

p.s.
That rear hatch, while I'm sure it works wonders for mileage, will be shit for putting anything in the hatch unless you don't like having a rear window.

dubtastic 04-06-2013 06:26 PM

I'm pretty sure we can write off awd in a 3 due to cost. However with the trick setup in fwd guise on the ST you can rest assure the fwd will be back on the 3.

For the next speed 3 we can expect around the same or less HP. To save money we will be probably lose the LSD but gain a bit more fuel efficiency on par or better than the ST.

I'm excited to see what the market place will offer!

ASmith 04-06-2013 10:29 PM

Looks like it's back to wait until the Fall for an official announcement. The more info I get the more I realize that it's nearly impossible to make even an educated guess at this point...

ASmith 04-29-2013 10:27 PM

Anyone hear anything new?

Bromodo Dragon 04-30-2013 04:35 AM

I investigate daily on the matter of the next gen mazdaspeed3. Unfortunately as of now nothing new released.

Okay, I haven't heard anything either.

ASmith 06-12-2013 09:09 PM

Still no new news here...I have however been looking at the Impreza WRX/STI again...

Tizbitz 06-13-2013 06:12 AM

Old thread is old..

Just get a Kia Rondo and be done with it.
