People need to realize dealerships don't have a fucking clue about the product they have on their lots, let alone something that may or may not come out in the future. Seriously, go up to any salesperson and ask them some random question about their current product. 3/4 of the time they don't have a clue.

Remember people, INTERNET KNOWS ALL

Totally agree!

I was holding out last summer for a '13 and in August they really started to push a '12 on me saying that it will be exactly the same. I asked for it in writing and they said no. I ended up going elsewhere for the car in November.

I wonder if I had any influence on this.. I tweeted Mazda a couple of designs of a next gen Speed3 (but 2-door variation) that I designed in photoshop a few months ago. This was my last iteration. I am quite proud of it...considering this is what it might actually look like based on the drawing on page 1.

I spoke with my DSM as well and he said the same a week or two ago. No speeds for a while if they even come back. Hopefully that means my 13 will maintain its value pretty well for the next couple years (which is exactly what I was hoping for when I bought it).

duappleganger 06-13-2013 10:58 PM

In similar news.... rumor has it the RX-7 might be coming back in 2017.

No fucking way. You don't need all that shit when you got an all motor Vtec in it. :yeah:

coasttime 06-16-2013 11:31 PM

I hope they go for the 2.5 DISI. The look is sexy, I wish they would of used this for the 2013 it would have sold like crazy.

Last year I visited the main Mazda R&D building in Irvine, CA. Spoke to a friend who works at one of the most top secret areas and he told me that there "might" be a new Mazdaspeed vehicle (did not specify which one), with a skyactiv based engine. That's all I have. This is directly from a guy who works inside Mazda. By that time they already had a clay based model.

My service manager had a manager's training class in Orlando the last two days.
He said they "put the rumors to rest... no more mazdaspeed, and no plans to bring it back in the foreseeable future."

This thread should be locked already. I feel dirty for even posting in it again.

At least it wasn't as worthless as yours. Service Mgrs are in the know on the Mazdaspeed Program apparently.

Whatever...
He was told that at the class. Doesn't matter to me. Interesting that you were so moved by my post that you felt the need to respond to it.

I suppose I'll edit this out. I see how people are handled around here..

Even though the forum always talks about having thick skin or GTFO.

I see. It seems you want me to react.

Forget it, let's move on. I don't see how arguing could benefit anything.

We just confirmed with Mazda, the Proto Tuning Tool Holder will fit the new 3rd gen MS3 with little to no modification necessary to the part or the car.

Great information and addition to the thread Ganque. It seems very likely that the Speed would return in the 3 guise given its popularity and the position it currently holds in the marketplace. Ford has the ST with a rumored RS on its way and rumor has it that Honda may be turbocharging the SI. I cant see Mazda applying the Mazdaspeed treatment to anything but the 3.

And your service manager is wrong. The DSM came by today, and we talked a little. The picture of the 3 that is up above is a early shot, he said there are a few changes to it. He also said they are going to tweek the looks of the 6 some.

Mazda is not giving up on the mazdaspeed brand at all. Right now there focus is volume, they want more then 2% of the us market, and the only way right now is to focus on the cars that will sell volume.

He said we will see another mazdaspeed3 and even a possible mazdaspeed6.

I also got this little bit info to share to.

Yesterday one of the service managers at my dealership told me in his best know-it-all voice, "you know that's the wrong weight oil for this car." (5W-40 Rotella T6)

I'm sure he would have recommended I go 5k miles with Mobile 1 in there if I hadn't been laughing.

Even the board of directors at Mazda may not be sure yet if they'll be coming out with an MS3 or 6, but you can bet they're at least messing around with turboing the 2.0.
