and I'm sure those back seats are "spacious" for a midget. my 6'3 ass isn't getting anywhere near that back seat, and I guarandamntee you that I wouldn't call it spacious.

almost had one for a rental but it would have been $$ more dollers plus tax per day for 2 weeks and my work trip is 30miles a day

If you like the fake hood vents and bypass valve that look like a cheap crushed aluminum can.. Be my guest. Youl be crying later when you pay more attention to it many other things you'll notice. Test drove that thing and in my eyes failed to please just as the first gen

Edit: not to mention a rear that isn't even fit for a midget. In for law suit when someone floors it and passenger in rear cracks rear window.

If the 2.0T they are putting in it is the same one as in the new Sonata Turbo then those hp numbers are very overrated. I believe Motor Trend last tested a Sonata Turbo and it couldn't even break into the 14s in the 1/4 mile. Based on the weight of that car, the engine is about 30hp - 40hp overrated. The V6 model is much more powerful but I say the car overall competes more in the class with Mustang and Camaro; the Genesis Coupe doesn't compete with our car in any way shape or form; cars that give you RWD at the expense of many other important characteristics (ingress/egress, comfort, size, convenience, stealth, foul weather performance, etc.)

Price point and styling are certainly Hyundai's two latest trump cards.

Oh did I tell you guys I had my car up to an indicated 140mph today? Rock solid and still pulling HARD. Try that in the $24,000 version of the Hyundai. Thanks again @Bucker

Also, In B4 first car introduced with 10 speed automatic. When will it end?

Mods (in order of significance): Cobb AccessPort, Autotech CDFP upgrade (thanks Captain KR for your assisstance), Cobb SF SRI Intake, Ultimate Racing cat and resonator-less test pipe, Cobb Turbo Inlet Hose, Cobb Knob, Cobb 300g shifter weight

Tune: My own (based on the v210 and v231 Cobb OTS maps but ramped way up)

Street creds:
- Fastest known K04/93 MS3/driver with only an AP, CDFP upgrade, intake, and tune | 13.37@106.83mph on stock Dunlops (2.04 sec 60' time, full curb weight, 75*F ambient temp)
- Has gone an indicated 146mph on three occasions now.

Yes I will help you tune your K04/pump gas car; I have much less experience than the major players but I also charge you $0 and can turn you around quickly. 4 satisfied customers and counting...

The V6 is a pretty cool car, if its what you want than its what you want and what we say doesnt matter. However, for the price bracket it falls in it is quite underpowered and actually the 5.0 gets the same gas mileage so you're just down 70 hp said and done :/. However now that the 2.0T engine is actually worth a damn that car may end up being more of a contender, seeing as how well the 2.0T cobalts respond to mods with their twin scroll K04. No telling what kind of after market support that car will have, and no telling how far you plan on modding but all in all it just depends on what you want at the end of the day. I'm a drummer, name 1 other car that i can fit my full drum kit in and trash damn near anything on the road for 24k + 3k in mods?? There isn't one, but if you just want a car you think looks cool and has some oopmh i'd go for it.

This pretty much sums it up. Yes, Hyundai has come a long way in the last decade but their prices have as well. I saw a 60k+ "Hyundai" at the auto-show this year. They are getting a bit big for their britches.

30k is much MUCH better spent on a 5.0 Mustang.

Yep their pricing keeps going up. In 2009 I recall a local dealer selling the base 2.0Ts for $17,995. Now they're like $23K+ for the same freaking car. A loaded v6 was mid 20s. and now they're over $30K. Hyundai as a value brand is a thing of the past. Plus this next gen IMHO looks worse than the current one.

Agreed, it's underpowered at the price compared to any Mustang of the same year. Compare the V6 to the 5.0 and lose, and honestly compare the 2.0T to the V6 Mustang. Same price bracket and WAY more HP, the 2012 Mustang was rated at 305 and that thing moved out very nicely for a V6 for the same price as our car. I will say I do like the styling of the gencoupes, even though they're considered ugly, same thing said about our cars. Also, I wouldn't put the BRZ / FR-S in that list, it's not meant to go up against the Mustang or gencoupe, I'd actually class it against cars like the Miata or more specifically the RX-8 with it's format, size, and price. I'm predicting it's going to tear up the autox scene if it gets some solid aftermarket support behind it, it's right wheel drive, small, slight, and has amazing balance and center of gravity, and decent enough power.

yeah I agree. for some reason I thought someone mentioned a BRZ so i oisted it but I think I'm just crazy. Haha

Speaking of the RX-8, a 2011 dynoed the same day I did, put down 185/150 corrected on a dyno jet. Sounds like the BRZ could be better deal since it starts $2765 less than the RX-8.

THIS! I had an 11 Sonata turbo and sold it for the PU! The numbers are extremely exaggerated! I wouldn't doubt those numbers are not turned down after initial testing. They do have a forged bottom end and a twin scroll turbo (allegedly) but it's already maxed out at 17psi. They detuned it so that you can run 87 octane and as far as I know NO tuner has cracked their software yet probably because they are already on the ragged edge. The car was suprisingly peppy but not quick and definitley not fast!

The styling is still what is selling cars for them and the warranty! What people dont know is that the powertrain is the only thing that's covered to 100K! Everything else is 60K for the most part.

Build materials are still subpar but are getting better. I did have to replace my trans (A6) after I blew it up in 5k miles. I will say that i got retail value for it when I got rid of it which says something about Its current resale value. My wife has an 11' Limited Elantra lease and its a nothing special at all. I like the leather and heated seats yada yada but it's an underpowerd terd. We do average 32mpg in though.

Our Hyundai experiment is done.

The RX-8 is discontinued, all that's left are leftover 2011's. Between the leftover markdown and huge markup that's going to happen on the FRS/BRZ due to all of the buildup, it's pretty much a wash, if not cheaper to go with the RX-8.

However.....I was watching this over the weekend. It looks to me like a whole lot of WRX/STI parts are going to bolt straight on to the FRS/BRZ. Check out the Cosworth longblock....

This is unrelated to the car's actual performance, but one thing about the interior turns me off and makes me think it's more show than actual go - the three gauges on the centre stack are from left to right:

1) MPG
2) Torque or PSI boost
3) Oil temps


Aside from the fact that the gauges look like the shit off of a Walmart bike, who places critical info like turbo boost pressure and oil temps to the lower right of the driver's field of view?

Conclusion: the gauges are for the benefit of the car's passengers. It also wastes valuable centre stack real estate.

Could have been because it was low mileage. Rotaries get stronger with some miles on em. I think I recall the insideline car gaining a 1/2 sec in the quarter after them putting 30K miles on the motor. I think it has to due with carbon build up raising the compression, but that's just my theory.

Hyundai has no pedigree in sporty cars. They steer vaguely and with zero or horrible feedback.
Mazda on the other hand has a rich pedigree in racing and in sport cars.
I gave the turbo Sonata and the Veloster a drive and I got out just feeling like I might as well drive a Camry and chop my dick off.
