Got a CEL :( Alright so I went to pick up some pizza which was less then 3 blocks away, and it driving there was all under 4000rpm and on the way back im at a redlight and a CEL pops up. So I read it with my AccessPort and i got the code P0171 which is for system too lean. Now ive had autotech internals for 300kms no prob, but recently I did put my HKS SSQV IV ( prob knockoff since I got it off ebay). Now what would that be? Could it be because of the HKS SSQV? Switching out would take 2 mins. |
Check all intake and intercooler etc connections, including you bypass hose off the hks.Lean codes are usually a leak some where. |
I will do that once I get off work. I have a feeling its the HKS doing all the trouble I was getting backfires running Recirc mode... |
actually sounds a whole lot like a loose/leaking bypass hose. Could be the valve itself tho, especially if its a knock off. |
Ill switch it back to OEM bypass and see what happends after work. Now I was realizing that my boost gauge has been way off since hks bov has been put in. If thats the problem its a simple fix. Well just by openning the hood I found the problem. The pastik piece for the filter split in half, not broken but whatever glue or w-e was holding it did not hold. |
Yeah so I kinda reclipped it, its holding hopefully long enough for me to get home. I will be needing a new filter. What would be the consequences of running no filter ? |
I would honestly have to say it's probley not your filter. When i bought my greddy Type S and put it on (venting to atmosphere) i would get this code. INFACT, i still do lol. However bucker tuned the car for this and it's just the way i want to run it. I periodically get this cel maybe once or twice a month. I would say if your car is not holding boost 6k or wherever you shift, it's time to buy another. |
Which filter are you talkin about? The little filter on the vacuum hose going to the bpv? If that is broke open then yeah it should be your code. Just use one of those little hose joiner thingys to connect the hoses on either side for now if you have to,but they are cheap enough that I would replace it when you get around to it. |

Switch back to stock bypass and all my problems are fixed! I thought my boost gauge was no longer acurate, but on the contrary I was leaking around 5psi of boost! Ill be putting that piece of shit in the garbage. but I do have the flange and recirc fitting that I got from Streetunit. |
eBay BOV thing actually says "HKS" on it? Would be funny if it was spelled backwards or something |
