got my AP!
 
went out and bought myself a used AP today for $300. SF intake by Cobb came in the mail as well...loaded up stage 1 + map and fuel preassure is above 1600 at WOT even though i dont have HPFP upgraded. Guess every speed is in fact differant

Listen to @Raider. Just because you are above 1600 now doesn't mean you will be in a couple days or a week or a month. That shit can go out at any time and most likely will. Don't you dare even think about picking up an AP especially for $300 and then turning into a cheap fuck and think you can not spend the extra money on a set of internals. If I read one of your thread at a later date "my car is knocking" or "I have a hole in my block" and you didn't buy internals, I'm going to stalk you and laugh you off the face of the earth. Home, work, emails, letters, phone calls, telegraphs, you name it I'll get ahold of you. I'm watching you...

at the risk of being chastized, if I had no plans to go further than an intake on the MS3, is the AT internals still needed...or is it pretty much just the first mod you MUST do?

I realize I am a noob. Sorry...

From what I can find(search function), issues with the fuel pump come when we start modding, which usually entails increasing boost, directly or indirectly...

Is increased boost the cause?

If the OP ran a stage 1 tune and modified it to stay at or below say 16 psi, will issues still arise?

Only need to let the ECU adapt after a MAF cal. If you are just flashing maps, you can go WOT after flashing. But for the purposes of the OP, yeah you might want to ease into it and keep an eye on fuel pressure.

1. RTFM (reviewed ALL pertinent documentation from Cobb, whom we all trust)
2. Called Cobb directly, just in case the above docs were out of date
3. Spoke to the reseller he purchased the AP from

The internals upgrade is NOT required for his mod level.

Please don’t flame me on this one, I am just a messenger. As a matter of fact, I agree with others that it wise to upgrade the HPFP now before you forget about and do something stupid later on.

In fact I am aiming for the same mod level as him, but I did order the Autotechs at the same time as my AP and intake, but that’s just me. I always lean towards overkill.

I guess my point is what f'ing good is all the extensive testing done by Cobb and the time they took to make these documents available to us, if we are just going to devalue them?

You're not smart. Stop giving shitty advice. Cobb has recognized and said that the gen 2's may have a problem with fuel pressure, and MANY people have reported failing fuel pumps with just intake on a Gen 2. So yes I will flame you because you are a shitty messenger. If Cobb had fuel pump internals you can bet your ass they would be saying "yes the gen 2's MUST get a HPFP before they can run stage 1 safely"
Stage 1 has nothing to do with how much HP you have. It's more of a part list. I am technically stage 1 because I have no exhaust mods. But I am targeting 20psi with advanced timing on an e85 mix so does that mean since I am stage 1 I don't need fuel pump internals either?

All I want is an intake/TIP and a cat back on my car...I have 50% of threads saying just get an AP, run a stage 1 map and I'll be fine...the othe 50% say is a brownie fucktard and need internals NOW (and need to donate).
