Default GREETINGS!!!
What's up everyone? My name is Nick and I just broke down and put a deposit 2010 speed3 in celestial blue mica with only 17000 miles on the odometer. Got it for 19k after negotiating them down about 1000 I am 27 and have owned 2 previous Mazda's. A gen 1 3s touring in phantom blue that I bought new and traded in this past April for a 07 v6 MTX mazda6.

Unfortunately this car was totaled 2 weeks ago when I pulled over to assist someone in a car accident and a 19 year old girl in her daddy's f250 decided it would be a good idea to park it in the back of my 6. Car was totaled and I am still unable to sleep comfortably with my neck but I degress....

The reason I am brought to this forum is to rejoice with you all about finally getting the car I've lusted after for 8 years now that I will be picking up next Saturday once I get my check from the insurance

Any suggestions for necessary mods to improve drivability, power, efficiency, look for a new guy here?

As far as power goes, before you get any other bolt-on parts, you should start with the COBB AccessPort and fuel pump internals. These are considered the starting point for all builds. You should also look at replacing the rear motor mount to better handle the increased power.

Congrats on the car, and sorry for the loss of your 6. As previously mentioned...if you are thinking about posting a thread asking a question...DON'T. Search first. A LOT. If you're lazy and ask to be spoon-fed, your rectum is going to get pummeled.

You'll find that this site is heavily focused on performance, and there are some very well-researched mod paths to take. If you are looking for teh lowz or other ricey stuff, be prepared for the ridicule. Thick skin is needed.

That being said, this site is one of the closest knit, brother-got-yer-back site I've ever seen. Your first car mod should be VIP status here. This is my first forced induction vehicle and I knew squat about the car when I joined. In 6 months, I've learned an immense amount of information just from reading the guides here. VIP will get you access to a VOLUMES of data about your new car. Subscribe first, then READ. Post pics too. :-)

thanks, i'm not looking to build it yet ( still haven't picked it up I just threw a 1k deposit down on Saturday, waiting on the insurance check for the rest of the down payment) but I am just trying to find out as much as I can about maintnence needed/ care/ etc....

My first turbo as well and I apologize for breaking the rules already

The more I look at it the more I like it. It is just sooo in your face that it's a bit off putting at first. Side note did I get a solid deal on the car? 2010 w/17k mikes for 19150?

I got my 2010 w/tech pack, at the end of 2011 - it had just under 5k miles on it and paid 21k for it

Eh. Maybe maybe not. The gen two has plateaued a bit right around 17-19 since they don't make them. And the used car market in general is much different than three years ago. I think you did fine and as long as you're happy you're good.
