Has anyone stained their exhaust tips? I recently did a full detail on my car and noticed that the soot isn't coming off my tips anymore. Usually I would just grab a old T shirt and shine up the exhaust tips. I can see the back lower portion silver but everything else is a very dark chrome look. Either someone spray painted my tips while I wasn't looking or my stainless steel tips have become hopeless. I also tried scrapping them to see if they would flake or not also. |
steel wool /thread |
I gave up on trying to clean my tips. That shit is blacker than Wesley Snipes. |
When did you guys notice your tips become stained? Would steel wool just leave it scratched and shitty looking? |

Metal polish and a rag, repeat. The polish has a blue lid, you can shine the bottom of a soda can to a mirror finish with that shit. |
My girl got her monthly gift today....I now have a stained tip  |

Turbo spit. Cause racecar |
I use diluted purple power. Works great. Freekn tappin |
use BRASSO and use your man muscles to polish it...costs about $3 at walmart. Gave my exhaust tips a mirror shine after 30K miles of never cleaning them. |
Never Dull works for me. Keeps it clean for the first 5 minutes the next drive, then it is black again. |
there are different grades of steel wool man. 000 or 0000 won't leave marks. i just leave 'em all sooty and tell people it's black powdercoat. |

turbo delete should also work |
100% e85 = exhaust you can eat out of. LOL. Never dull wadding polish or a good, strong all purpose cleaner (even Eagle one a2z wheel cleaner) should do the job, as Raider and atvfreek mentioned. Voltron cracked me up on this one. |
my white bumper is stained and needs to be repainted. fml |
I drive 60 miles a day and mine still look new. As said in here, just use some Eagle 1 Never Dull and you are golden. |
I use Ajax (powder) and warm soapy water along with steel wool 0000 here is a pic of the tips cleaned on my grand prix. hope this helps http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...Mzc2LmpwZw.jpg |

I apologize if I'm coming off douchey, if that is a word, but exhaust soot can be removed with either clay or compound. Mother's clay is an excellent otc clay, and Meguiars Ultimate compound on a microfiber rag will get rid of the stain. |
i dont even bother washing my tips anymore |
Just use some metal polish and some of those man muscles... |

keeping them bitches clean is a part time job. Wear that shit like a badge of honor like a dent on a pickup truck. In B4 the Canadian soot fanatic has a duct tape can of foam remedy. |
My Wesley Snipes exhaust tips scares Hondas. And Scions. |
Any metal polish +elbow grease should get the job done. I usually just wipe it down every couple days, it stays unstained |
A 2 second cleaning during the weekly car wash= no stainage |
I stained mine with black sut from running rich |
