Head Bangin' HELP ME CHOOSE
 

Im going to the Austin area in about 2 weeks.
Im trading or selling my 2009 Civic Si to get a 2011 MazdaSpeed3.
Im debating what color i should get.
i have 3 options to choose from all in the same price area with about the same number of miles and all have the tech package.
i have the option between Velocity Red Mica, Liquid Silver Metallic, and Black Mica.
Please tell me what you think, and id also like to know more about this vehicle because i just dont know much about it.

If I could do it again, I'd probably go with silver. Red looks nice but is a cop magnet. Black shows swirls over time from cleaning. And white, as I'm finding out first hand, is a motherfucker and a 1/2 to keep clean. Don't get me wrong, CWP is fucking sexy. I just wish I had a garage.

Black or white FTW, both hard as shit to keep looking good.

The best colors for this car, IMHO, are
1. Chrystal White Pearl (oh so sexy and clean)
2. Liquid Silver Metallic (a close second)
3. Black Mica (best for disguising damn soot from exhaust)
4. Velocity Red Mica (never really been into red cars, these things are boy-racer enough without a screaming red paint job)

It was silver for me, and I don't regret it at all, just get a little green when I see those damn clean CWPs with tinted windows looking all sexy and clean.

No matter what color you choose though, welcome. Search, donate, zoom-zoom.

Tinted windows are coming next paycheck. I'll be sure to send you a pic of the CWP seXXXiness.

I have mica black and dirt and chips in the paint are super visible. If I had it to do all over again I think I would go silver.

That said, get the clear door edge guards and park in the last spot.

i dont think they made a white on the 2011+ if they did that would be my first choice! i would go with silver but i just found out theres one in the city i live in -.-

luckily i have a garage and get my vehicles washed every 2 weeks.... so i dont think black will be a problem if i keep up with it and get it waxed once a month.

i do like white!!! lol my SI is red but i wanted a white but couldnt find them in the states, therefore if i could get a MS3 white 2011+ i would but havent come across one on Autotrader.

I am a little jelly of the genjuan cwp. I like the body of yours better, but I prefer my 2012 interior. Not feeling the orange.

i agree! in the correct sunlight these things sparkle.. my favorite however is at night when your parked under a street light :) hahaha.. and yeah i agree on the genpu interior being a bit nicer. plus you have all those extra steering wheel buttons that i have no idea the function of! haha i only have a volume,track seek and basic cruise control

where are you looking to get one? I'm bored at work so maybe ill search around in hope you missed a spot? and possibly the $$$$$ range/ mile range you want if you don't mind me asking. if so its no problem hahah i understand

Shit, I don't even know what half the buttons on my steering wheel do. Some are for the MFI, bluetooth, track seek, etc. Cruise isn't even on the steering wheel. My stereo pulses when you change the volume and track. Also says zoom zoom when you turn it on, and goodbye when you turn it off. The dual climate control arrows blink when you change the temp and what not. Its all fun. :D Factory boost gauge ftw.

OP, have you considered buying new? Interest rates are higher on used cars, mazdas hold their value and you don't know how the other owner treated the car. All reasons for buying new.

The buttons are RACECAWWW, doncha know? NAWS from the factory yo. But seriously they just allow you to distract yourself flipping pages and looking at stuff on the MID while driving down the road, ha. "Well, I'm doing 85 on the highway right now, what's my current gas mileage. Oh, and how many miles left before I have to change my oil and rotate my tires? OOoo I can change how loud the blinker noise is inside the cabin? This thing is tits, how did I ever drive before without being able to play with settings on the road, texting is so last year!"

$23000? Can you afford $2-3k more? If so you should be able to walk out with a brand new car at that price to be honest if you shop around and haggle a bit. It's not an unheard of price to get a '12 or late model '11 out the door for $25k with the bells and whistles.

If you get a place willing to work with you and negotiate well it's not out of the question. With you looking to pay cash (assuming since you said no debt), I really don't think it's too far of a stretch. Should be even easier if you can find a dealer that still has a leftover late '11 still sitting on their lot that they want to move. Based on your price range I would pursue the new car route pretty aggressively before going with used.

No. The only thing from tech that I wanted was the HID headlights and LED tail lights. And maybe heated seats. But I also wanted to keep my payment down, so I choose non-tech. Some days I wish I had bought the tech, but at the same time, its just more shit to break. Instead of a $200 headlight bulb mine is 25. And I can get HID kits for anywhere 35-75 dollars, so even then, its cheaper to buy a whole new kit than it is to buy 1 bulb from a dealer. Nav that size is a little goofy, and half the time I don't use nav - it just pisses me off.

The only thing I wanted out of the teck package really was the headlights as well, though not the part that is easy to get aftermarket. The auto-leveling and adaptive front lighting was what was leading me towards tech package. In the end though I opted not to get it since my financier required an extended warranty as part of the loan so that ate those costs.

Yeah, that's a nice feature, but I was looking at cost long term, benefit, and monthly payment. Or simply put, was it worth a high payment for the extra gadgets?

heck yes its worth the extra cash! even if you need to go used. getting those extra features sets the car apart. even the rear lights look much better once you add those packages.

+1 on silver ftw! It was the only color dealer had (only one at all, actually), and I was glad. Like others have said, black shows up alotta shit (have had plenty of black cars), red will get you pulled over, and blue just looks funky IMO...and oh yeah, FYHN!....

The GPS is shit (and tiny) They key is nice as are the lights, but that's it. Stereo really not that much better in tech than non. I opted to just get the base. I also think the stereo is the same in all 2012s now, tech or no tech.
