HID lights on genpu ok i am about to order the DMM kit. just have 3 questions and have searched but not found anythig. mabey im searching for the wrong thing but here goes. 1. what bulb is it for the low beams on a 2012? 2. 35 or 55 watt? is it a huge difference on these cars? i know i like the 35w 6000k color what is the 55w k rating for the same color if it is worth it. don't want to melt anything with 55w so is it safe at that wattage the resource guide list doesn't list the headlamp bulbs |
55 watts is overkill. H11 for low beam and fogs. |
I'm not sure of the bulb type myself, but I usually stick to 35w lows or fogs. With 55w sets you usually need to also wire in a battery harness for the HIDs. I've compared 55w and 35w side by side before and the difference seems to be pretty minimal. It's all about personal preference. |
i went from a 35w ddm 5000k to a dabears2k 55w 5000k and the difference, for me, was substantial. i also switched to the kensun bulbs that are available on amazon. the dabears2k kit also came with the wiring harness/relay to power the ballasts directly off the battery. keep in mind that a 55w ballast will 'wash out' some of the color that a 35w ballast would give you on the same bulb. my 55w 5000ks are crystal white. i used the 35w kit to run 3000k bulbs in my fogs. also, if you open up this nifty thing called the owners manual, it will tell you what type of bulb the low beams are. the setup i have now is by far the brightest ive ever had, in terms of visibility from within the car. |
owners manual is nifty but my 6 year old spilled hawaian punch on it and tried to hide the fact by throwing it away. dealer is supposed to give me a new one. thanks guys for being so nice on this one. i just ordered the 35w H11 6000k kit. got the harness just in case but will try it without it first. if not needed then i have spent 15 bucks for the ability to go 55w later. |
Lol not gonna lie....I really was tempted to flame you, but, didn't have anything funny to say hehe. |
Might want to order the H11 male connectors as well. Seems to be a crap shoot but sometimes the kits don't come with them just the wire leads. They are like $5 on ebay. |
The DDM kits will not come with the connectors but I just pushed the wire in there. Also the 35w 6000K bulbs are going to be super blue. I would have gone 5000K at most. That is what I did and they are still a tad blue for me but not too much that I can't handle it. You won't need that relay either. |
Just got my ddm 35w 5000k kit in today and it had the connectors. Their site does state that they might come with or without so it seems to be a gamble. i suggest you pick up spare connectors in case as they are cheap enough. |
Hehe so much hassle for hids. I went to some vato shop in Houston, paid 50 bucks per set, came with everything to complete my riceboy setup. Been in the car since day 1, 18k later, still going strong. I suggest putting them in your fogs, and aiming them up. Shit is so bright, I see the future. I am however swapping the 8k out for 3k's, so if anyone wants to trade me, lemme know :) |
Been rocking 55w 4300k God's for a while now. No issues whatsoever and definitely NOT overkill. Why pay for hid's if they're not going to be much brighter than stock. Just different color. Imo blue hid's are rice. |
Not for nothing but the 6k is much brighter than stock. And yes blue is rice. But I'm Asian and I love rice. In trace amounts of course. |
OP I bought DDM 55w w/ 6k bulbs and it gave a nice color output. Comparing 35w vs. 55w is like comparing lows vs. highs very bright. I ran them on my old 6 for about 3 years with no issues what so ever. Listen me out on this: DDM's game has stepped down a lot. They're site looks legit don't get me wrong, but it's a hit or a miss when getting the ballasts. Some of my friends who ordered a set usually one of the ballasts gave out. Twy do offer a lifetime warranty, but shipping takes forever... |

i also get the kensun bulbs off amazon. i don't know what experiences others have had, but i haven't had a problem with a set yet. plus, if you are a prime member, you get free two-day shipping, and overnight is only $3.99. Quote:
google is your friend :) |
+1 on the kensuns. I bought their H11 kit off amazon, around $50 bucks i think. All connectors were pre-made, no splicing or cutting. Very simple plug and play. |
