Default hks ssqv no sound?

I installed my ssqv today in full recirc, but hear nothing. I have stock intake right now and cant hear the bov.
There are no cel's. The recirc hose is a tad crimped. Cant figure it out. Constructive thoughts please.

Since you donated, I won't groan you. Consider this a get out of jail free card.

You need an aftermarket intake in order for the BPV to be audible.

Stock airbox is too restrictive.

if you just want sound then unhook and block off the recirc hose and enjoy your car running like shit.

Aftermarket TIP and Intake will make it a tad bit louder but it's not going to sound like it does on the youtube videos. Because small turbo.

The stock intake muffles the sound. Maybe if you disconnect the plastic piece that feeds the air going into the box you might hear it idk.

If you are using the stock recirc hose, it will crimp because the hks angle is different from stock bpv.

Why I'm being so nice idk. But did you really have to ask if you are on stock intake?

What he ^ said. But don't be disappointed even after an intake. The hks is not loud at all, maybe a little more then the stock bpv. My new forge on the other hand is as loud as a trumpet.

When I had hks (on cpe sri) it sounded like a compressed air tank at blow off, lol. But I sold mine because stock bpv is good enough for my needs.

Altering his factory intake still isn't going to make it audible. It's just too restrictive. Unless he wanted to drill swiss cheese holes all over his airbox, he needs an aftermarket intake.

We don't really think about that because that's usually our first mod.

Back in 08' the only SRI was the cobb and they were on national back order for over a year. Some of us had no choice but to tear up the factory intake. I don't recommend it at all. The gains are negligible and it's ghetto as shit.

without trying to get too bashy, why did you feel you needed to change it in the first place? Unless you're running more than 18psi it literally will only sound different, thus making it a ricer mod. Since you don't even have an intake yet, I'm assuming this is the case.

Now that all constructive comments are in, can we have some fun?

The hks is pretty damn loud with a metal inlet and short ram. It even got a big louder affter my front mount install.

Way louder than a buddies with a mazdaspeed cai, metal inlet and a turbosmart. his was almost inaudible

I was concerned that something was wrong, not that it would be super loud. If I wanted loud then I would have gotten a turboxs bov kit. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something I was missing. Also, I did search youtube and forums for info. Youtube has a stock airbox setup that was decently loud, but also vta. I ordered a cs tip sri, they just didnt have it in stock so i had to wait three weeks. Should be here next week. Pretty excited. The forge seemed cool, but the ping would make me nuts. Also, i have had similar set ups on card i have turboed and it was still pretty audible. I am still learning about this platform so thanks for no groans.

. I have an ap. Internals, tip, and sri in mail. Cooler sparks are waiting for internals install to be put in.

I don't know, man. I understand the logic behind this, but in my experience there has been a slight noticeable difference with aftermarket BPV's over stock.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it yields any more power, but there is definitely a small difference in drivability.

My forge V2 went from slightly louder than stock to really loud when i went BT. Another possible solution.

OP - if you still get crimping with the cs intake, find a supplier that sells reinforced silicone hoses or worst case, order the cpe hose. You could also try and flip the ends of the oem hose around and see if that works.

OP - is this what you were expecting? Maybe open your hood and do the same as this guy

But driving with it is different with hood closed and road noise.

OK so I have everything on and it is functioning properly. It is a really exciting experience driving my car now and I am quite happy with how much better the responsiveness is in the vehicle. A lot of people say that the original bpv is the same, but I have noticed at 19 lbs there is a pretty biggy difference in how quickly the SSQV closes.

So suck it groaners.

P.S. Sounds fucking awesome.

EDIT: I found some more information on why the SSQV closes more quickly. It is because it is a pull valve instead of a push valve. Which means boost pressure actually helps it close much faster.

On a side note, why does SSQV get so much hate? Because it makes sound? First off it is an awesome design and function; secondly it makes a nice healthy sound.

Yep. Got anything good for us?? I noticed that a lot of people don't use BoV's in this forum. They just use aftermarket BPV's or stockers. Anyone have an experience like mine, where you actually had a better response out of your vehicle?

With a replica, I don't know how that would effect performance. I do know 2 things are needed. A vac filter and a gasket. If you don't have either of those things and not in recirc, then you might have issues.

Well this forum is geared toward performance, not looks or sounds. The less hp something will net, the farther down the mod list it is, unless it's crucial.

I was a bit on the ricer tip too at one point lol

I have noticed this, which is fine. I don't like spinners, altezzas, and huge spoilers either. The BoV is actually pretty important in terms of holding boost. A leaking BPV/BoV will cause bad things to happen. No one talks about this stuff and maybe there are some people that do, but afraid to. I got groaned for it, oh well.
