hks ssqv4 question

Sorry if this is a pointless post. I have been reading and reading. search but nothing.

My friend is going to give me a HKS SSQV4 for my birthday:fest30:, but my question is will I need a Cobb AP if I install. I don't want to damage my car, make it run rich or lean. Thanks in advance.

Sounds to me like you need to read more and post less. But I'll be nice. Are you planning on buying the recirc kit for the HKS?

It's just the way we work. You need to recirc that shit so you will have to buy the kit and the adapter plate so it fits a Mazda flange. At that price range you are better off selling it and buying a turbosmart BPV or better yet not getting a BPV at all since your stock one holds up to 25psi and BEYOND!!!!

Still a little to in debt to start modding for exhaust and other stuff

If you're going to get a bov you have to get a tune for it. Fuck everyone else that tells you it's rice. Do shit your own way. HSK comes bov purchased. Don't get a recirc tube if you want that sound.

No, it's fucking rice. He doesn't have an AP, he doesn't have a guardian angel, he needs to recirculate that shit so he doesn't run rich as fuck post shift and fuck his cats and in return fuck his car. Also recirculating helps the turbo not lag as bad. And for your information fuck nugget, it HKS not HSK. And learn how to use proper grammar because you sound fucking retarded.

Haha, I'm married and I have a son on the way in two months. Rice is rice. There are plenty of people running with a bov. Gotta love it or hate it. Just tune for it.

That's the thing. He has no AP or any sort of tuning or safeguards. So he can't tune for it. That is why I told him at THIS stage in his modding it is rice to go VTA and not recirc. From the sounds of it, I don't trust the OP to get this BOV and have enough self control to not install it and wait until he either has an AP or recirc kit. Lets be honest he is going to install it right away and tell everyone how fast his car is cause it backfires and pops. That means he haz teh fasts!

You guys are funny.

Half this forum has been running in full VTA for years with no special tuning. I'm one of them.

Very little afterfire and fuel trims sit at 1.5 all day.

This usually only works with an HKS valve, though.

NCZ13 10-27-2012 02:46 PM

I've run vta and recirced with my hks. I never noticed any significant difference in ltft. Currently running recirced with a nano and inlet. My previous setup was about a year with a front mount and recirced, and a couple months vta before I had to stock out for the state ref.

No rich conditions at all post shift or right after throttle close? Have you monitored this? I know SOME people can do it with no after fire but that doesn't meant you aren't still running rich

this valve is designed to run VTA in my experience my car runs better with this valve VTA than recirc'ed. No special tuning needed. guardian angels won't work with this valve.

I've done logs with it and don't see any overly rich condition post-shift with this valve either. I know the common rules for MSF regarding running VTA but this valve doesn't need to play by those rules. The only after fires I ever get are when I shift after very light throttle application. No idea why. WOT has never once caused an after fire.

Or just buy something that actually adds power or helps it corner better. It is such an unessesary mod. I rocked a 1g DSM BPV on my speed for ages (its on the WRX now holding 23 psi) and it cost me $20. VTA usually sounds like shit anyway. Fucking car sneezes or queefs. If you are hard up for some noise open up your exhaust or get an intake.

Monitored daily via dashhawk. I see nothing that is cause for concern.

She's a tad rich, but that's FI.

Afterfire isn't totally non-existent. There's still a few pops in between shifts once in awhile, but nothing that is going to destroy my cat.

Car pulls like a freight train.

And, to satisfy my inner ricer, has a nice blow off with a little whipple sound to it.

Nano91 10-28-2012 12:17 AM

i can wait for the recir. kit. I mean I don't want any damge done. I just bought my car. Not like Im rich an not give a shit! So wait it out see what my friend gets me. So I shouldn't vent into atmosphere (vta) correct? Intake will come soon. and then AP
