Default How to get info about the work that was done on your car at the dealer

I was wondering if there is a way to find out what work has been done on your car at the dealer. I bought my gen 2 with 30k Miles. Just wanted to know if the previous owner had any work done at the dealer. I know it was a one owner and it was a female but that is all I know. Would like to know if she replaced clutch or anything big. Any info is greatly appreciated TIA.

You could ask the dealer. Dealers do keep records of work preformed on vehicles. Why do you ask anyway? I always buy new, that way you never have to worry about "previous owners" and how much they beat the shit out of their car that you now drive.

Dealers will only be able to access what has been done under warranty, nothing that the customer paid for. If you call a mazda dealer, give them the vin and they should be able to pull up all warranty repairs and what dealer did them. Best bet is to call the dealer that did the warranty repairs and see if there were any COD repairs also done to it, or if they can give you full history.

But that may not be the full extent of the history of the car. I know plenty of my customers who come in for warranty work that do not come in for COD work. And if its ever been repaired due to an accident, it was probably through an independent body shop, not a dealer. Sometimes that shit makes it on the books, a lot of times it doesn't. I always fully inspect cars for body work. Changes in gaps between body pieces, over spray in fender-wells or undercarriage, etc.. I don't trust carfax for shit.
