How hard do you drive your speed? Hey guys, Ive caught myself pondering on how hard everyone on here drives their speeds. as in how many times a day/week you go full WOT, or at least heavy part throttle, hit redline, etc... Personally, I probably got WOT usually either in second or third gears every other time I drive (I drive every day) and once a week or every 2 weeks Ill take her to ~135 (on a nice closed road by where I live) Wondering if I should let off the gas pedal a bit, or if she'll take the beating. Right now she's got 26,3xx miles, and Id like to have 'er for a while! How do you normally drive, MSF? |
i go wot multiple times a day to 80-90. a couple times a week ill run someone to 120 |
I go WOT almost everytime Im driving, at least a couple times. If I wanted to just cruise around would have gotten a prius or civic. |
^+1 and I have 107K on mine |

I thought going wot was the only way to drive the ms3? |
Never owned a turbo car before this, and after getting the intake I have to hear the sounds of the turbo at least every time I drive it. |
nice...i was wondering about this while thinkin of which car to purchase. thanks for the responses. thanks op for startin this thread hahaha |
My drive to work is pretty short so my car doesnts even get to operating temps. I will usually rip it a couple times a week when I go somewhere other than work, but I dont ever go too fast. I dont think I have even been 100mph in my speed.... Just highway speeds 70-85mph... When I had my s2000 and had a 30 min commute to school I used to see 100mph daily lol! But there was a bad ass on ramp to the interstate and I would rip 1st-3rd with a little of 4th every time. Maybe I am just getting old... |
I mash that shit on the daily. Lots of light cruising but I gotta step on it to the top of third atleast once a day, if not 6 or 7 times haha |
hahaha, thats what I figured, @AZSPEED3 said it perfectly, Im always trying to find the balance in treating it well and having fun, after all, why buy racecar if not to have fun in it? |
I think the best measure of how hard I drive is how quickly I go through tires. I've gone through Proxes 4's, Eagle GT's, and Conti DWS's in under 50,000 miles TOTAL and I ran the GT's and proxes 4's until there was no tread left at all. Ever since 30k miles I've been driving as hard as possible - hoping to blow my engine or cause a serious problem so I could have an excuse to drop in my built engine. I'm at about 90,000 miles now and I've pushed my oil changes to about 8k intervals... and my clutch and engine are still working like new. Other than a smoking turbo and broken diff mounts I haven't had any real problems. Compression is good in all cylinders and I put down 260/300 @17psi on a k04 with just intake dp and tune - now I have my ETS TMIC back and I'm running 19psi. ...GT3076R and treadstone TR10 coming soon! |
I drive it like i stole it!! WOT is almost a daily thing if there are no passengers in my car. |
I'm not a know-it-all, but my car has 79k on it, compression test was done weeks ago and it had 175psi all around. As with any engine, the harder u drive it the more pron engine parts are to wearing out quicker. These engines are designed to take a beating! As long your not constantly up in the redline all the time, it should be ok. I get on it usually once a day. I dont shread my tires, but i get it upto about 5,500 grand. I also do it on the highway so, it cools the engine back down quickly. I wouldnt suggest constantly stomping it in stop and go traffic thou, especially on a hot day lol That's just my .02 cents thou! |
I don't know how to drive stick, so I just put it in 1st gear and drive around like that. |
I go WOT just about everytime I drive. The max I've had it at was about 130ish when I was passing a row of like 6 cars on a 2 lane highway. |
150 on a "closed" highway isn't too bad either |
I'm wot right now |
I drive my car like I stole it unless my daughter is in the car. If my wife (soon to be ex) is in the car, I drive even harder because it scares her shitless. :) |
about 30 passes at the track, going WOT every day (second gear is my fav just cuz losing traction looks B.A :-p). i only FFS when im racing or at the track. so far 7500 miles. still truckin, hopefully ill make it to 10k :-D |
I drive WOT to the speed limit from first gear to second while on the streets. On the freeway I go WOT to 4th gear & spool the turbo in 6th to mad dog other cars to see if they wanna run. They never do... |
Let me put it this way: I'm thinking of replacing the pedals with a switch. Up would be labeled "WOT", and down labeled "Brakes". Tapadatass |

OK... 2-cents... WOT = FT (full throttle). Every time I see the acronym "WOT" I think of the word "what". They sound alike. FT > WOT... I go FT only when I need to. *No street racing. *No drags. *No uber-speedy freeway behavior unless I need to get out of harm's way. This is my DD. Other folks on the road intimate by their lack of vigilance & (-) driving skills that they're oblivious to anything out of the ordinary. Just a proponent of safety on the road. Enough morons out there. Don't need to add one. My apology if this ruffles any (WOT) feathers. :unitedstates: |
I'm WOT all day erv day... |
What's part throttle ? I'm wot at idle. |
im starting to use WOT to condition the gf not to mess with the radio...she puts on a gay song and its 100mph here we come |
WAIT A SEC....whats WOT again? Also, whats KR? my car usually gets bet 5.0-7.0KR @ idle and even higher at WOT. That's a goo thing right?:wiggle: |
nigga when I go WOT, my dick moves up from rest in sync with da speed o meter shiiiiiiaaaaaat EDIT: bad times when I come to a stop light yo... |
I just don't feel right if i don't run through the gears with the pedal pegged at least twice a day. I also barely use my brakes. I heel toe every downshift like I'm on a road course and whip that fucking chariot around corners every chance i get. I thought that's why Mazda made this car. |
Reading all of this is awesome and I have to honestly say as it has been said before. If I wanted to cruise I would have bought a prius or civic, but I didnt. The couple of guys I know that baby these cars and pussy foot them around town are the guys I see having all the problems. The car knows what its meant to do so let it do it and enjoy it. Your not going to take a triple crown race horse attach a buggy to it and have it give tours so dont disrespect the car like that either |
WOT all day every day. |
I go WOT at least once a day. When co-workers that call it an economy car get in it is every time I take off. Nothing better then seeing that scared look on thier face as they grab the oh shit handles. One of them said he thought we were gonna roll it. We were no where close. Fucking SUV drivers! |
As far as the peddle will go |
I really don't get on my car all that often. Too many stop signs and red lights in my area to really go WOT. When I drive to my gf's house I drive a bit more "spirited" since I'm on the highway. |

hahahah I love this! I'll start doing that from now on, and if she asks why... because racecar. |
Honestly I don't go WOT very often. Maybe a couple times a week tops. I do however drive very "spirited" all the time. Then again I have a cavalier I drive daily to work so when I do drive my Mazda" it feel like racecar ". |
When I want to get off. |
I'm at 40k and have always went WOT multiple times a day. I have probably WOTed and gone over 100mph 1000 times... I probably have the datalogs to back that up. But since getting my little big turbo dialed in, I can't WOT below 4th, or I just spin, even w new summer tires... Though sometimes it is fun to just spin through 3rd up to 80mph :) |
You ever see a guy floor it through traffic, cut everyone off and slam his brakes cause the light turned red? You still end up behind him after all that and you think what a douche. Yeah, I don't want to be that guy. |
