How is the OBX cat back exhaust?

I've seen the obx cbe on ebay from $485 shipped and I am wondering if it's a good quality product or just another ebay gimmick.

Buy an AP and fuel pump internals first, catback is hardly any gains

caesura 01-23-2012 07:38 PM

just bought an ap last night and getting internals in about 2 weeks!

You are making a lot of useless threads that could simply be found by searching.

There are 2 exhaust threads that discuss Gen2 cbe in detail. Most recently a lot of people have been buying the OBX cbe and besides some clanking, it's pretty good.

But as bbode0 said, skip the cbe and get some real power mods.

It's sexy but as stated above search button really helps!!!

Sorry I am new to this forum, i have read those other threads but they haven't really had any updates on them so I was seeing if anyone had any updates on them. What are some better power mods?

Boost Addict 01-23-2012 07:47 PM

Dude, search. Theres thousands of threads on here about power mods, you're not just going to get spoon fed information

Looks like you got your basics covered with intake/tip. Get a rear motor mount to put that power down better as well as improve shifting. AP and internals would be next (internals are a must if you want to turn up the boost).

Get a test pipe, which will remove the secondary cat and free up some hp and give you a bit more growl. If you want more growl, remove teh resonator and keep the stock cbe.

At this point it really depends what your power goals are. You could get an e-tune from one of the guys on this site which will probably net you some very good hp and make your car run safer since the map they will customize for you will be better than the OTS maps that Cobb provides.

If you want more you can look into a top mount intercooler (especially if you are staying with the stock turbo) or a front mount intercooler (recommended if you are going Big Turbo at some point).

Downpipe would be next and would give you arguably the most gains besides the AP/tune. The stock downpipe is the single most restrictive component in the exhaust system so that will really let your car breath.

Downpipe wise you can go long dp or a shorty. A full length dp will replace the first cat with a high flow cat (or no cat) and replace the second cat as well. If you removed your resonator, this will really open up the exhaust without upgrading the cbe.

At this point, to complete the package, you could go for a cbe if you want even more sound. It's not worth it cost wise but some guys just want more sound. I didn't think I would upgrade but got a really good deal on a used exhaust.

I am sure you can find better posts on here but this should give you a good idea of what most people start out with.

If it's not updated don't make another thread about it just post in that thread which will revive it, goddamn noobie.

The thread @dizzydtrain mentioned above called "exhaust" talks all about the obx cbe. Not sure how much more info you could possibley want.....

It's a pretty good product, but from your picture your muffler looks a little out of date (LOL) but if you get 20+ horse power then the exhaust will empty into the cooler and you should be fine (:

I wouldn't consider yourself "new" to a forum where you've been posting here for over a year with 150+ posts. No excuse for laziness, just search.

Way to bring back a pointless old thread.

I would consider myself new to the forum on 1/23/2012 because I just joined 6 days prior.... No excuse for not reading the post date before calling someone else out.

FWIW - most OBX products are just Chinese knockoffs of products designed by reputable companies. The OBX copies are usually pretty decent, but not quite as good as the originals.
