How to tell which AP tune?(Car from dealer) Thinking of buying car from Mazda dealer with tune. I have no experienced with accessport and I was just wondering how easy it is to tell what type of tune it has and more importantly what octane fuel required? Thanks in advance for replies and sorry I'm still a noob. |
In before flaming! Does the car already have an accessport? As in being sold with one? If there's a tune on the car, and someone's skipped off with the AP, go look elsewhere. Tappin |
You can go on the AP when it is plugged into the car. Flip through the settings under tune and go to reflash and it will tell you which map is loaded. As far as octane goes, always run the highest octane available to you. If you are buying a car with an accessport installed from the dealer, make sure you get the accessport. It is locked to the car. Is this is a used car? Edit: I checked to make sure I was telling you the right shit, and under Tune there is a setting to just see which map is loaded. Once you click on that it will give you the option to reflash. |
Thanks, yes the car is used and still has the accessport with it. What if it is tuned for e85? I'm Canadian and we don't have it here. Car is US vehicle. Thanks again |
Sometimes the tunes have names. |
i'm assuming there are mods on the car? if so what are they? is there a HPFP installed? details, man. also, premium fuel is required even on stock tune. |
Has AEM intake, UR downpipe, full stainless steel exhaust. Upgraded HPFP(don't know what kind) and accessport tune. Definately premium fuel, just wonering how to tell is tuned for 94 or 93 etc. |
If it has an ap then you can flash to a staged map until you get a tune. |
unless the car is already running a map that says 91 or 93 in the name there's no way to tell. you can always drive very conservatively and monitor parameters. |
donate and post logs. you will be schooled. |
Given the option, just run 94. |
Thanks for replies, when I finally buy I will donate 100%. |
Tune that is on the car is hopefully the appropriate tune for the current parts installed. Just run the highest quality gas you can get and monitor very closely. Personally, I only buy cars that are stock and clearly have not been fucked with. But you never know. Good luck! |
Yeah I know it is a bit of gamble but as long as it is quality parts from a quality shop I'm hoping it will be good. Car only has 17000 miles and I am taking it to a mechanic for detailed inspection/compression test. There is another for sale I was considering with 41k with no mods that is only slightly cheaper. I was also considering that if the modded one falls through. |
Well it sounds like you're trying to being smart about it. This is a great place. Everything you need to know is somewhere on this site. Just read as much as you can. |
