Details:
JBR 3.5" Wide Path Full Intake System
The JBR 3.5" Wide Path Full Intake System is the only solution for those seeking unrestricted flow from filter to turbo. The one piece design eliminates the need for unnecessary couplers and the joining of multiple sections that increase turbulence, friction and loss of airflow. Increased efficiency means lower BAT’s, reduced back pressure and increased performance from your turbo. From end to end the 3.375”cross sectional inside diameter of the Wide Path Intake is capable of flowing over 300 g/s on the stock KO4 turbo consistently at WOT while maintaining stable AFR’s. 4-ply reinforced couplers, stainless steel T-bolt clamps, thick walled silicone hose and a K&N Dry-Flow air filter make for a complete stock or big turbo intake solution. Tuning is required to run this intake.

Includes:

3.5” Full Intake W/ Recirc
4" Black 4-Ply Reinforced Coupler
Silicone Valve Cover and Waste Gate Hose
Stainless T-Bolt Clamps 3.5” K&N Dry-Flow Filter (Washable No Oil)

Fitment:

Simple bolt on application. Uses stock mounting location for OEM Turbo. May not use OEM mounting location with all Big turbos. Fits with the OEM and all aftermarket top mount intercoolers. Fits with all front mount intercoolers with a passenger side discharge pipe. May not fit with all front mount intercoolers that discharge to the drivers’ side.
now did i read all that crap when i bought it no, (because black friday excitement) but that shits on me. ill figure it out, even if i have to fiddle with the coupler or something to make it work. If i come up with a solution that it somewhat elegant I will make a how to thread

but it will probably just be more duct tape, paper clips and zip ties

We made the 51R battery tray because the MS3 engine bay is a cluster fuck. Lol

That was a rhetorical question, ha ha. But yes, I agree the ms3 engine bay is a cluster fuck.

Since I had nothing better to do today, I took the time to get to the bottom of the fitment issues.

Not that anyone will care or read this but, at least I know handled the situation quickly and without pointing fingers at the installer.

This is what I found...

The factory mounting location where the intake attaches to is fairly flimsy. The 3 cars I checked today it was in a slightly different spot and it did not line up perfectly with the mounting bracket on our intake. After a little manipulation of the factory mounting point it lined up nicely.

Now on to battery box issue...

2 out of the 3 cars I checked today the intake cleared the battery box by a 1/16 or so, the 3rd no go. I could only get one of the battery box bolts in without pushing hard on the intake to get the remaining 2 bolts in.

I took the intake back out and over to the fixture it was welded up in, it fit perfect. I took an old intake I had and put it in the fixture and it fit the fixture too, so I ruled out the fixture as the issue.

After giving things some thought I started taking measurements. The motor in the 3rd car was over towards the drivers side a tad bit over 3/8 of an inch compared to the other 2 cars. I put 2 jacks under the motor, loosened the TMM and PMM and wiggled the motor motor over towards the passenger side and viola, the intake fits with a 1/6 of and inch clearance. There is close to 7/8 of an inch of side to side allowance in the mounting holes of both the PMM and TMM. This explains the why some fit and some don't.

Once everything was buttoned back up the intake fit perfect and cleared the the OEM BPV with only the included spacer by more than a 1/2"

I believe it's safe to assume that fatigue of the side mounts could also increase the chance of the intake coming in contact with the battery box.

I must agree with HTP, this is gonna be a tight fit for every MS3 and may not fit perfectly with every setup.

Happy Holidays.

im another canadian brother, running the jbr intake on my k04

relocated the ecu to the top of the fuse box.
1 bolt in the battery box, the intake still touches it. I put some adhesive foam rubber between the box and the intake so that it wouldnt rub the finish off

im running a forge bpv
with a short rectangular extension piece between the bracket on the engine, and the bracket on the intake, the filter still touches my bpv. Without it, the filter would not fit as the intake would be sitting higher. Im not sure it would fit with the stock bpv

i have washers and tube spacers sitting in my garage, ive just been a lazy ass.

I think im just going to remove all the bolts on the battery box, i dont think its going to go anywhere, so that it will be as far as possible to the side. Or i could even drill new holes, use longer bolts to fasten it down.

another thing, the screws were coated, as well as the mating surface where the maf sits on. There was a substantial leak around the maf, assuming because of the coating. I just used sensor safe caulk gasket on the mating surface.

nothing has really been straight forward, but the quality is there, and now that my itty bitty asian tuner is back from holidays, we will start to tune for the larger intake

Perhaps mine fit so well since I was literally still breaking in my pmm. Either way, your awesome for taking the time to address the issue so quickly during the holidays. Now stop working so much and enjoy your day.

I must agree with HTP, this is gonna be a tight fit for every MS3 and may not fit perfectly with every setup.

Happy Holidays.
In other words some cars are just too tense ...So we gotta loosen'er up and slap er' around until it's relaxed again? ... Got it

Thanks for looking into this...You didn't have to do it today of all days

Merry Christmas.

I'm sorry, I just couldn't read all of the posts for this discussion. Please understand that while I'm chipping in my .02

My JBR intake is in contact with my bpv. I don't know what that means. The side of the filter nearest the bpv is partially crushed. It makes more power than either my k&n SRI or my 3" cp-e CAI. It's probably not ideal but I haven't had the time to fix it recently. Again, airflow is much much better than the two intakes I've had on it recently so it doesn't matter so much to me.

I bought the air straightener separate from treadstone. Some coaxing and it fit. I have no idea what it would be like w/o the straightener as it has been installed for the entire time I've had the intake on.

I only have rough fuel trims dialed in. They fluctuate about +/- 3% of where they were after 50 miles of driving. They could be w/in 3% of 0 ltft, but they're w/in 5% and that's good enough for me not to care.

With the stock battery, there isn't a lot of room between the intake tract and the battery box. I don't know what this means, if anything. You might be able to fit a 3.5" intake in there without removing the ECU, but it seems like it would be a pretty tight fit.

Either way I'm not gonna sell the JBR 3.5" I've got. It works, and it's only $15 more than the corksport SRI+TIH, less when you add in shipping. More when you add in the double-sided tape for the ECU relocation.

Honestly, I don't think you'd go wrong with either one (HTP or JBR), given you had the ability to tune for it. IMO as long as it's one piece you're good. FWIW I do really like the wrinkle coating on my JBR.

Mine fits fine as long as you remove the ecu... i just have mine currently sitting on top of the fuse box with no tape or velcro because it doesnt move at all what so ever. The mounting tab is iffy, ive had it on and now its currently not attatched because where end of the intake curves where the coupler attatches its an odd shape and just does not go on very well as there isnt much material there to get the clamp on.

But its on there, and works havent had any major issues with it..

i used search and found this thread.

I'm planning on upgrade my Cpe TIP unit to a full "pipe" unit. I know this thread is all about the MS3 fitment. But will the HTP TIP (3" or 4") or JBR TIP fit on a MS6 with the stock battery in the stock location?
