Hypertech- good deal??
 

Took the plunge and just picked up a Hypertech for $379...all inclusive. Is this a good deal?
If its too hight..id rather cancel and buy later.
Appreciate thoughts on this...(hoping its worth the investment for some gains)

Not too sure, I got mine used for 240 shipped, but that is for a genwun, urs is a genpu

Thats extremely expensive, even on Amazon you can get it for $300.

Plus its not even worth it, the AP is worlds ahead.

I dont know much about the hypertech. but it seems from researching that you would be much better off adding in another 175/200 bucks, and get a accessport.. jp at eaglemotorsports will give you a good deal on one.

if you drop $25 and donate, these come on sale fairly often from folks who wised up and moved to an AP. i just bought mine off the forsale boards for $225.

you overpaid. cancel immediately. buy used.

Or keep saving money and buy an AP.

OP, donate $25 for VIP access and you will see the HT's going for not more than $275 in near -new condition in the For Sale Section here. $475 will get you an AP, with more tuning possibilities.

Ok! called ion and cancelled my order. Appreciate the feedback from you guys..Guess i will make the donation and hunt around for a good deal..I'm in no hurry..I guess my buy was impulsive...as I couldnt find a better deal...also..I couldnt find the FOR SALE section on the forums..assuming...thats enabled after I donate.

Like other said, cancel order, donate, then buy used here for cheap if you want a HT.

I think you will be better off donating and buying a used AP, or new, whatever..... I had the HT and upgraded to the AP. AP>HT by a mile and a half.

As mentioned 10 times in this thread get an AP. There are many really good tuners on this forum that can help you get a tune dialed in. Or you could even go with the Perm krew for a custom map for a small fee$$.

HT doesn't work, mine had serious fueling issues where in 3rd gear it dropped to 800psi and lost nearly all power. On occasions 4th gear would drop to 1200psi for short periods but even when the fuel pressure held it still felt like i'd lost 50lb/ft. IMO, avoid.

Sold it for £250 to a 6 owner.

Yep! I have been reading a lot about which one makes sense...but just don't want to get slammed for bringing up an old topic of which makes sense....my reasoning is that I don't intend to really go overboard with the mods...I basically have a JB SSP, CS SRI with Turbo Inlet. I am inclined for the AP ..just don't want to blow my engine..also of course I still might pick one up for the right price

I wouldn't worry about blowing your engine with an AP. Would be more worried about the hypertech because you can't monitor what's going on with the engine, unless you have something else to monitor with. Also the OTS maps cobb makes are on the safe side. I haven't heard of anyone blowing their engine with a cobb ots map recently.

If hes not going to mod hardcore and doesn't want to go BT/ mess with AFRs then the HT works for him. To be honest the HT so far for me has been treating me well, I like it a lot, but if I want to get more power I'll switch to AP, maybe in a little.

Advice taken....returned the Hypertech and picked up an AP..never used one for $465. Hope it's worth the extra bucks...

Your saying that I can get an AP for $300? Ive looked in the For Sale/Sold threads..and most of them are in the $475 range..unless you are referring to the Hypertech

I think he was referring to the HT and just did not read the whole thread.

this thread was started asking about the HT, and it went off topic to talk about the AP. but my post was directed to what this thread was started over- which is an over priced HT

Gotcha!..sorry...thought it was directed to my buying of the AP..thanks anyway....took advice from folks like you and did the sensible thing
