I love when UPS leaves stuff on the porch 1 Attachment(s) Just got my CorkSport CAB today! Looking forward to installing it tomorrow. I would do it tonight but I want to address a few other things while I have the opportunity. First impressions are pretty good. It is on the heavy side and probably adds all the weight back that was removed with the stock air filter box, but that doesn't bother me one bit. I would rather have something that is built well.. |
very nice, i really like the stock look that box gives and the bit of filter protection |

I noticed that I can get water under the hood when driving in the rain, or even just washing my car. You just can help it. I have seen some of that water beaded up in the folds of the filter. If the CAB works the way I hope it will, it should help in both areas. |

Even still, I wanted to get the box, but I ended up getting a Cobb intake for a better price. heard that it will not fit with this intake, actually been thinking about making an intake box myself out of aluminum. I also wanted to try the intake sock that you can get from sure, or CPE, and outerwearsracing.com anyone have input on the socks? do they fuck up air flow? |

As far as an intake sock, they seem functional. I just don’t like the idea of adding any intake restriction, no matter how small, after spending money to lessen it. |
UPS left my Cobb AP on the porch yesterday. Fortunately I was home earlier than normal. Just because my neighborhood is gated doesn't mean people don't steal things. :ugh2: |
Can't you have UPS hold it at one of their locations until you come pick it up? |
at least they left it on YOUR porch. Had a friend get a downpipe on monday and UPS left it on a neighbor's porch a few houses down. He was home all day, package marked as delivered, and he had never gotten it. Luckily he was able to find it. Did you get it to fit yet? |
I have used the socks before and i didn't notice a flow difference. They don't really work as well as advertised though. I had one on the CAI on my 3 and was driving home thru a rain storm, long story short, the anti-vib mount broke so the filter was resting on the splash shield, got a CEL, came home, MAF was driping wet and the filter and sock were soaked...I will stick with a SRI but would still consider getting another one, just don't expect it to make your car into a submarine...or just get the CAB. I plan on getting one eventually. |
Unfortunately I had to remove it. Some customization will be required on my part to make it reliable. Like others on this forum, I found the design to be lacking. They either need to go back and rethink the design of the CAB, or provide a different silicon coupler. After 20 miles the maf t-bracket started eating into the side of the box. I really don't see how to avoid this other then enlarging the hole. There was not a single part of it that fit together well. All this I could ignore if it were not for the eating itself up. I don't want to give up on it though. It really does knock down your IATs. |

Here is what it did within 5 minutes of driving. Doesn't look like much, so you need to imagine 1000s of miles later. Attachment 78001 |
What is this thing, like an air filter "shield" or something?, to keep hot engine air from entering the intake? Why wouldn't it just be made out of plastic or something it seems. There's alot of freaking room in the engine bay once the stock air box is gone. Good idea though, I like it. My IATs are ALWAYS above ambient, at least 10*F just cruising, much more when driving or hustling or heat soaking. So I am interested in how this turns out for you. Has everyone noticed that the new Cobb OTS maps usually have .90 in the WGDC - IAT Comp. table at 32*F (0*C) ?? That's a noticeable enough change from .95 in the v200 and v210 maps. I can't imagine getting IATs right to ambient (they will always be a few degrees over) But just take note that, in English, Cobb and their new v231 OTS maps target around 10% less WGDC at freezing compared to anything 68*F (20*C ??) and up. This is more aggressive than the prior map's only 5% less at freezing than at 68*F. But we all know WGDC is very loosely coupled to total power on these cars. So many other variables. Hey 5% less boost (if WGDC equaled boost which we know it doesn't) on 20psi is a full psi less on the newer maps which could equate to more than a few lost ponies. |

I can confirm that it does work. Like you my IATs are at least 10 over ambient, and that is conservative. To maintain that small a difference I need to be driving over 50 mph consistently. Come to a stop even for 40 seconds and it rockets up. I can't address your other comments. |
I love it when UPS leaves stuff on my porch ..... HOWEVER, I just had them leave my internals on someone elses porch. I called after UPS alerts told me it had been delivered and said... "Um, delievered to who and where? I've been home..." Luckily, the idiot driver did annotate where he left it... it was down the street. I was able to retrieve it on my own and lo and behold! The address on the label was 100% correct, driver can't read or was drunk or something. I'm a bit pissed and worried I'll get the same damned driver - have parts coming in all week. |

UPS left a package for me according to the website, but it was never here when I got home. I never got a refund either. Fucking bullshit. Luckily it was only worth $20 |
