I now own a 3000 lb golf ball.

Had a huge hail storm last night. I have no garage. NO tree or cover of any kind. I don't know if you can make it out in the pics or not, but the whole car is dimpled from front to back. Adjuster is coming out in a day or to to assess the damage.

Can't fucking have anything nice. Barely had the car 8 months and it's dimpled like a goddamn golf ball.

Funny thing is, same damn thing happened to my BLACK Protege 5 a couple years ago...yet it has NEVER happened on any other car I've ever owned. Sucks.

:wtf:

EDIT: Can't really see them, but they're there.

Dahouse702 08-01-2011 06:06 PM

You just gained an extra 20 hp!!

m4tic 08-01-2011 06:07 PM

why you complaining, speed dimples are sweet

SIXual Panda 08-01-2011 06:08 PM

you cant really see the dimples AT ALL from the pics.. but hey, golf balls are dimpled for a reason.. it makes it more aerodynamic.
---use that same theory. your genpu is ultra fast now because it cuts through the wind like no other genpu.

WorstEpEver 08-01-2011 06:08 PM

That sucks... although I can't see shit in the pictures.

Would a heavy duty car cover enough to protect the car in a hail storm?

yeah, but others just call it a garage instead of a heavy duty car cover.. lol.

08.5MS3 08-01-2011 06:12 PM

I have damage from hail while I was at work one day. Dimples all over the roof of the car. Can only see it at the right angle. Swear it's faster from them.

Bucker 08-01-2011 06:13 PM

Yeah dude your coefficient of drag just got cut in half.

kpacker51 08-01-2011 06:15 PM

I know it's hard to see in the pics, but believe me, they're there. Even on the hood. Let's put it this way...if I went to sell it today, whomever was interested in buying it would say "What the fuck, there are dimples all over this thing..."

SLOWHATCH 08-01-2011 06:15 PM

Maybe now you can get your insurance company to pay for CF parts. Then there will be two threads about a black gen2 with CF. SWEET.

Seriously, kinda sucks man, hope you can get it fixed. I'd be pissed.

I know. But that's the best I can do. I will try to take pics in better daylight tomorrow.

That's actually pretty nice, although it probably looks good on anything but black, because it would get lost in all the, er...black.

zatara 08-01-2011 08:10 PM

seriously, all cars should be dimpled...

supraman 08-01-2011 08:31 PM

sucks man, but all the more reason to get some CF goodies with the ins money..

... and then hooks itself into the trees.... or at least my dimpled genpu would ;)

Tokay444 08-01-2011 08:37 PM

Lexus dimples the underside of one(or more) of their models to aid in fuel economy.

ClutchEngaged 08-01-2011 08:41 PM

Aerodynamics FTW

Broxer 08-03-2011 01:42 PM

Few months ago storm came through and busted 3 cars windshields at my apartments. Unlike normal, I had parked under a tree so I got away unscathed. Minus tree sap and leaves all over my car.

zatara 08-03-2011 01:42 PM

I've come to accept the fact that unless this is a show car, shit happens. So long as the paint stays on and nothing is completely screwed up, I'll leave with it. Scratches and chips from daily usage will be expected, and if the car gets old enough, can be redone, but otherwise...it shows you use the car. Hoon it like you stole it!

I Love Brownies 08-03-2011 02:10 PM

they will pry total it. but hey thats win for you since it will be paid off

stp 08-03-2011 02:21 PM

Man, that sucks. Part out time?

kpacker51 08-03-2011 03:11 PM

I fucking hate Geico, now. The guy noted 50-100 dents, and only shelled out 1600 bucks to do PDR. Fuck.

rghispanic88 08-03-2011 03:23 PM

damn that sucks bro

And what body shop will only charge you that much? :banghead:

JT.Tuckerman 08-03-2011 03:36 PM

A real good PDR guy might be able to get them out.

robry 08-03-2011 04:12 PM

just went through this in March when we got a nasty storm and a tornado nearby even.

wife's mazda3 got 2100$ damage thus far, still waiting to get it in the body shop. Schedule august 14th, it sucks too, hopefully the body shop will give you more loot to get it fixed.
