| Not Ranked : 0 score We got a middle of the line cx5 and had leather installed. Saved about 3,500. Otherwise all you are missing is the auto lock unlock and 19 inch rims. You talked about chains though so I imagine you are looking at awd. We got fwd. Be aware that awd on all seasons might no be better than fwd and chains or snow tires.

| Not Ranked : 0 score good luck paying $27000 for a fully loaded CX-5. A Grand touring w/ tech package AWD will run you around $31500. There is about a grand in markup and NO rebate money. I doubt any dealer will sell you that car for that big of a loss. Specially a top end model.

P.s. we take loser deals every day. sometimes only a couple hundred dollars, sometimes a grand or more. Dont say we make money all the time. You clearly have no idea what your talking about. P.P.S. mark up in tech package and leather shows in the total MSRP and invoice price. not its own price. trust me, how many car salesmen have you delt w/ in your life? cause I can promise you that I have delt w/ more customers then you have salesmen.

What does it matter how many salesman I had to deal anyway, I know how the business works and I usually end up buying my cars the manager anyway. I know the CX-5 is popular and I know that means a harder sale but I have no doubt in my mind I can get them to cut the price. The 27K I was suggesting was for the grand touring without tech, sorry if I was not more clear. Don't mean to be so defensive, sorry if I'm coming off as a dick. I'm really very nice, I drive a Mazdaspeed3 after all .I will probably end up getting the Touring and installing all that extra crap aftermarket. I don't know where to even start with the sunroof (panoramic would be sweet ).

Well hopefully you can understand why I get the way I do, considering everyone thinks car salesmen are assholes. And that we are out here to rob and rip people off. That being said, We make $75 dollars flat on cars. Meaning if we dont make any money on a deal, or we make a few bucks, we will get paid $75 per that unit. (not alot, I know). And with how aggressive financing is now adays, its hard to make money on that too. Our chance of making $$ is if you buy an extended warrenty/protection package. Do yourself a favor and buy the GT. Its only a couple grand more, and will get you all those options w/o having to have an aftermarket company do it for you.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I agree with buying the gt if the options included appeal to you. In our case the leather was the only item on the gt options list we wanted so it made more sense to get it aftermarket kinda tough for upholstery to not work and For the record the katskinz leather that was installed is nicer than the leather that comes in the gt.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Vehicles don't have markup like they used to. You can thank that on the internet and competition from other brands. As many of you know I sell Ford, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram & SRT vehicles. The smaller cars (Fiesta) typically have $400-$800 in markup. I can't help but laugh when people expect us to move a few grand on deals. Hell, even used cars are getting slim on deals due to increased value on the wholesale side and the internet and peoples willingness to travel for a deal driving down the cost on the retail side. At our dealership we make a flat pay on new vehicles most of the time because we charge a lot charge only. In other words, we charge enough to get it through service, fill it full of fuel and clean it up for delivery. My wife has spent the last 2-3 years as a finance manager and I can tell you, its tough to make money there as well. This used to be a great business to get into but the internet and lack of customer loyalty due to deal seeking is killing the smaller dealers. Money isn't made on the new cars, sometimes its not even made on the used. I'm working a deal currently that we're selling for less than we have into it for its just a number on the board for me. Not all sales guys are here to rip you off. One other thing, don't always believe or trust the guy with the best deal, especially at a large or chain dealer. A lot of them have other tricks that the smller dealer typically wont do. Ive had people tell me they can get the same vehicle for $3k less when really they're getting a better deal with me. Yup, because the dealer quoted you the most basic model, not the one that you wanted with the $3500+ in options. For some reason sales consultants will always be the bad guy. Remember, its your choice to take the car, its your choice on add ons, its your choice to trade and its your responsability to look over the vehicle before you buy. Not all of us are former techs or car guys like myself & even so it takes a lot to remember every single vehicles options and specs..

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I respect sale guys we never end on bad terms no matter how bad it gets. I understand this is how they make a living and I'm never a dick to them I'm just pushy. I kind of feel bad about the loyalty thing. When I was buying my speed I drove 250 miles because the dealer agreed to the lowest price of anyone in a 500 miles radius. When I buy my CX-5 I'm going to try and get it at the dealer who does my warranty work. The guy I deal with is super nice and I already spoke to him about a CX-5. The GT seems to be the way to go. Damn why does the tech package cost so much. That would put the car over 30K. I really want the keyless system, the one on my speed is so damn useful. I may have to pick up one of these used in a year or so. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score The best thing to do, if you want to be loyal but still want the lowest price possible.- Get a bid on the same exact vehicle from everyone around you and take the lowest price to the dealer you wish to work with. Typically they'll match the price or be within the ballpark. Typically to me, if dealer "A" is within a few hundred of dealer "B" but dealer "A" treats me better, I'll pay the extra. And not just because I'm a Ford sales person, but the Escape is very competitive to the CX-5, might be worth a look. Ford always has decent rebates as well (even the ST has a rebate right now).

The only Ford I will buy (no offense) is a 5.0 mustang or a Raptor. My next next car will most likely be a Mustang GT 5.0. I had an 83 GT with 351 dropped in and I miss it so much.

| Not Ranked : 0 score The reason I recomended it is due to the fact that the 4cyl Ecoboost engines are very similar to the 2.3 in our cars. They're actually very nice interior wise aswell and you do get a good amount of tech for the money. No offense taken.

| Not Ranked : 0 score My brother was a car dealer. Had him go with me when I was buying my wife a vehicle. I started out looking at a 2009 Cx9 for $20k...not a bad deal I thought after testdriving it and such. Then...I was told I wasnt approved for it and that it would be better to try getting something brand new. So I ended up with a brand new Kia Sorento. Now...I know not all Dealers are out to make money...but me getting declined on a loan for a used car was complete BS (Credit isnt bad and income is plenty). I say this because...I turned around 2 weeks later and bought myself a used 2010 Evo X for $28k before ttl. Im not sure how much money the dealer made but I declined everything extra except the Protective paint stuff.

The 2013's are starting to dry up and we should see the 2014's in the next month or two since were already ordering them.

I had a guy not to long ago who we couldnt get approved for a used vehicle and we even tried a new lease (typically the easiest to get approved with poor credit) and it was a no go. He called me a day later gloating that he got a BMW 1 series on a 72mo buy. I can also say that I've had a guy try and buy a vehicle with 92k miles for 12k and get declined while getting approved on another car with 89k miles for 15k. A lot of it is based on the value the bank sets on the deal and what they choose to buy as a better risk. The Evo may have been through another bank or percieved as a better risk. We have over 20 different banks that we send deals to. The finance department makes money by shopping the rates and bumping it up a small amount and thats their cut. The real profit for them is add ons and warranties. Though anymore, as long as you dont modify, its stupid not to buy the warranty on a used vehicle do purely to parts costs.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I read somewhere there might be Turbo diesel CX-5 as either a 15 or 16 year model. But it could also be the diesel gets introduced in the 6. Apparently it's a bad ass 4 banger T-diesel. Low compression ratio and aluminum block but about 300 lbs of torque. I would wait for that. On the car mark up side Mazda has always been fairly reasonable on the margins they make. If you buy a beemer or a Porsche you are paying for the name. Not on a Mazda. One of the reasons I got into Mazdas in the first place. They are good value overall and the company as a whole is very innovative. Although the Miatas and the rotaries are really the wunder kind of Mazdas their standard line up is still very appealing.

On that note if there is a gen tree I heard it will be a twin turbo diesel. That would be epic.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Damn I was reading some specs for the test 2.2 skyactiv diesel motor. 176HP with 310 ftlbs of torque at 2000rpm and a 5200rpm redline. Fuck me. I'm waiting for that shit. I think the cx-5 diesel will also get upwards of 40 mpg. I saw an article that said the 6 will get 43 at least but they are saying those numbers are low balls and you should expect 45+. I'm expecting the price tag to be a bit higher but that's cool with me. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I seriously doubt the cx5 will be rated at or above 40mpg, it will likely end up in the mid 30's. But then again, we'll have to see how it performs and how the transmission reacts.
