I'll be purchasing a 2012 MS3 tomorrow
 

Hey everybody, I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Tyler I live in FL and will be purchasing a 2012 speed3 tomorrow. I Got it with tech package for 25.5k my payments will be 360 a month for 66 months.

I currently have a R32 and my soon to be wife has a 2002 celica GT-S. I am trading in the Celica which they are giving me 3k for. It has 152k on the clock.

I wanted something "Raw" that is fast and affordable. I was seriously looking at used STI's and a used e46 m3. I was worried with the piston issues the STI's are having and didn't feel comfortable with how much the m3 is to maintain. I also like all the goodies the MS3 comes with.

The R32 is a great car but I really miss manual and boost! (I had a stage 2 gli before the R) Plus it is a ton of money to mod. A proper turbo kit is 12k easy. That is almost half the price I paid for the car.

After reading through the forums I think my first mod will be engine mounts then an intake with a tune. What are your thoughts on this? I've heard of some people having rod issues with their MS3.... Is this a common problem or something I don't have to worry about much?

intake, rear motor mount, and cobb ap are good first 3 mods.

as far as the rod issue, get a COBB AP and watch for KR and you're golden. 3 things to remember in MSF which i think you've already done step 1 is

1. Search
2. Search more...
3. Search even more..

Thanks bro, I've been posting on vwvortex for some time which helped me learn the ropes. Some of the members there can be pretty brutal. I've definitely learned the hard way...LOL!

You'll enjoy it. I had my car for like 2 days and I had an VW R32 pull up on me on the highway and we did a pull and I got infront of him. We got off the highway and he game me a thumbs up. I love the exhuast note those cars produce.

don't get a ms3 man, they are a waste of money, they handle nice for fwd car and that's about it, fwd is so boring you mine as well go out and get a civic

Congrats on the future ms3. What year .:r? I had a blue 08 that had a sweet exhaust and nice awd. Id trade it in a heartbeat for an 04. Ended up selling that a year later cuz I couldn't deal with the first gen dsg and lack of mod potential.

fwd doesn't do so well in any type of motorsports, ms3 is a waste of money, ms6 is a much better choice if you can find one

To answer a few questions. I got a red 2012 MS3. I still have the R and it is an 08 candy white. As stated it is a great car but the tuning potential sucks and the dsg is just boring. My fiance loves it so now it's hers.

VW guys really do love K04's!!! It's awesome having one stock and not having to pay 36k for the 2012 golf R.

I really don't mind fwd. Most of the roads in FL are straight and it is great for roll races.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but it seems Cobb would be the same as say APR or GIAC for the vw crowd, but Cobb let's me do my own programming/maps?
