I''m shooiting for 300+ HP....the best mods to arrive there???

All,

As the title states. I'd like to get my Genpu to around/above 300HP, not necessarily 300whp (even though I know that's possible) but at least 300HP at the crank and then have the corresponding drop off at the wheels.

I have read various threads about mods and know all the basic upgrades and am working on adding each respective piece on the list in progression.

What I'm asking is based on your experiences so far on the Gen2 platform, is there a point where I can stop adding parts and just tune for reliability to acheive this goal?

You can see the current mods in the sig. Here are the ones still in the queue in order of next to be purchased.

- FP Internals
- Test/Race pipe
- Short Shifter and Bushings
- Catted Downpipe
- Colder step Plugs
- Catback Exhaust (possibly)

If I stop here, will this do it? I'd like to focus additional funds on

- Springs/Struts
- Swaybar
- Upgraded BPV

I apologize if this is in the wrong section. I wasn't sure where to put it. I just want to make sure I'm on the right track.:notworthy:

Thanks,
J

Don't get the BPV unless you start leaking if you're staying on stock Turbo. May want to consider a TMIC or FMIC too.

Broxer 10-13-2011 11:02 AM

AP
FP internals
Meth
TBE
Intake & Inlet
Perm Tune

That should get the power you're looking for.

Roddiy 10-13-2011 11:06 AM

Ive read a couple(this literally means 2) of people had problems with their meth controllers, which flooded their engines, one actually bent his rods because of it during a BT build.

Id say either go big on meth, get the best controller possible, or stay away.

That said, go FMIC, or 3.5" TMIC, for added reliability

and the rest is dead on, with all that and a Stage 2 tune, you could probably get 310ish whp, which is far more than that at the crank.

just my .02

Intake, E85, tune

atvfreek 10-13-2011 11:52 AM

Cheapest and easiest way. Downpipe, testpipe, intake, fp internals and a tune. Don't need meth or catback to get close to 300 at the wheels.

Plus CDFP internals.

300 hp easy with a couple gallons of e85, intake, fuel pump and good tune. Don't even need TMIC or FMIC. If you can't get e85 then your gonna need an e-mazing aggressive tune...prob won't need meth.

silvapain 10-13-2011 02:46 PM

Hell, I hit 300+ WHp on VD with a stock CDFP and TMIC at ~18 PSI. not that hard.

Genpu =/= genwon

Speaking in fuel logic terms

Big turbo :headbang:

I've been told the GenPu can hold around 18 PSI of boost before the CDFP begins to lose pressure as well.

Maybe if your only upping the boost without touching anything else on the car.. add an SRI and you'll loose Fuel Pressure.

@atvfreek knows that you can hit 300 whp / 300 wtq on a mustang dyno with the mods he listed,

because he tuned his own car to do so. (on 93 octane pump gas and slightly higher wtq numbers iirc)

I think he is just too modest to say so.

Although it is car dependent, the gen2 can approach 18 psi regardless of flow mods on the stock pump.

I wouldn't play with that fire, but it has been done.

----Here is a gen1 car hitting #'s that you are looking for without meth also:

f-castrillo 10-13-2011 09:47 PM

OP: See the mods in my signature. You don't even need the DevilsOwn meth kit to make near 300whp, I'm just using it as a safeguard (for now). I'm making 295whp on my own AccessPORT calibration and on 91 octane. And California's 91 octane is terrible ;)

forcedinduktion 10-13-2011 09:59 PM

I think you can hit really close to 300 with a good tune

mrFanel 10-13-2011 11:47 PM

I hit 285 WHP with the mods in my sig. With an upgraded IC and Downpipe - I'll be doing 300 :)

J_Logik 10-14-2011 10:00 AM

@f-castrillo
@forcedinduktion
@mrFanel

Thanks for the information. I didn't think I necessarily needed Meth to get there. I was hoping to avoid it if possible. It looks like a better IC is really the only thing I'm missing on my list and if that combined with the AP Stage 2 to start (and a more precise tune) can get me to 295WHP and +330WTQ, I'll be more IRIE than these guys => :danems6::439:

I still wouldn't mind some more feedback, but based on the synergy between the sigs of the guys above and my list. I think I'm good.

@rfinkle2
@atvfreek

Thanks for the link to the other thread. Nice to know others are at this power level or beyond this with a little dilligence.

I'm going to post some logs this weekend and looking forward to the advice from the forum.....

Cheers

forcedinduktion 10-14-2011 10:22 AM

OR you can try some 85......

JLee1469 10-14-2011 10:27 AM

Just remember those "calipers in red" won't help at all

I humbly disagree, they make 90% of the people I blow by (including other Speed owners) break their necks either because

a) they know regular 3's don't have painted calipers - so what was that model?

b) For Speed owners they want to find out if there are OEM parts they don't know about (the calipers, have the Mazdaspeed logo on them as well).

Tasteful appearance mods FTW!!:biglaugh:

Mazdaspeed stickers on red calipers add 5 whp.

Brembo ones bump you up by 10...

Actually.......Brembo stickers only give 2.5 WHP, now fake Brembo caliper covers off eBay over top of your stock calipers that hit the innerside of your rim, that's where the true power is...after all they lighten you wheels progressively as they grind away!!:mischievous:
