Jacking up the car

This is probably a stupid question, but I would rather be safe than sorry. Where are you guys putting the jack at to jack the car up and where are you putting the jack stands? Pictures would be very helpful thanks. BTW I have a 2011 MS3.

andrewpiro 08-28-2011 12:49 PM

If you don't know where to jack up a car from, I'd be seriously worried that you're doing any work on it at all. Maybe it's best you just take it to a shop.

emag remrofni 08-28-2011 12:51 PM

The best place is the painted part of the bumper and the exhaust tip.

Cwpcasey 08-28-2011 12:53 PM

WOW thank you for the jackass remarks.

Pedal-Force 08-28-2011 12:53 PM

This has been answered quite a few times.

But I'll answer anyway, since I'm just that nice. Donate and get access to the shop manual. It'll give you the side points and the front/back points. Front point is centered, you need to drive up on some blocks first to get your jack under there with enough room to jack.

This is the main reason I dont donate to this forums. :fuckyou:

Monotonous ONE 08-28-2011 01:00 PM

I use the spare tire jack on the left front first. On the beam there are two vertical marks. The jack gets placed between those two points (per the manual). I jack it up enough to gain clearance for the big dog floor jack and also to see where im going. On the cross beam directly behind the rmm the X marks the spot.

For the rear i would use ramps. I havent had to jack up the rear for anything so i couldnt tell you how thats done. Theres probably an X somewhere.

Oh and for the jack stands i use those same spot with the notches wherw the scissor jack goes. Drop it back down on them nice and slow and triple check that they are locked in place.

zpele 08-28-2011 01:06 PM

Fuck. Is this the new member section? No? Cool.

Fuck off.

You don't donate because you don't know the jacking points on the car? It's even in the fucking manual that comes with the car.

jonspeed3 08-28-2011 01:18 PM

FUCK YOU AND YOUR GENPU.

Dash08 08-28-2011 01:27 PM

Listen asshole, we're not gonna hold your fucking hand and show you around town.

You're just gonna have to do some searching like the rest of us did. Like others have said, open your fucking owners manual. That's a start.

Don't get pissed at us because you failed to do your own research.

If you had half a brain and some relatively thick skin, you'd stick it out here because this is the best technical site for Mazdaspeeds.

learn from my fail:

http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/foru...k-genpu-85299/

when i jacked it yesterday i put the stands under the part of the control arm that mounts to the subframe. seemed to work fine.

snOhio 08-28-2011 02:29 PM

1 Attachment(s)
also, i built these to facilitate getting the jack underneath. 2x12s, the bottom one is 2.5ft and the top one is 1.5 ft. 45 degree bevel on the edge, and a piece of the scrap used as a stop. hole drilled in the middle to put a landscape tie through to keep it in place (i'm on dirt).

I_Heart_Haters 08-28-2011 02:54 PM

@I_Heart_Haters.......this is what you used to do, but you stopped.

I think that question could have answered in near seconds if you typed it in google.

RTFM. You don't need a shop manual or anything, open the glove box like I did and VOILA!

zpele 08-28-2011 08:56 PM

Put it in a place that doesnt bend when you put the weight of the car on it.

If it makes a hole- prolly not the right place.

If it makes shit bend- prolly not the right place.

It your car sets on fire- prolly not the right place.

If you shit yourself- prolly not the right place.

If you turn gay- o wait you already are.

This post- Fucking priceless mutherfucker.

Well, that all depends on your perspective. Wait, no, no, it doesn't really. I do have to say though, that all cars clearly have a spot for jack to sit and they are pretty obvious....even if you don't rtfm.

forcedinduktion 08-30-2011 08:33 PM

lol comedy central roast?

Scoobs 08-30-2011 08:47 PM

Wait a minute, Sellers got Banned?
Roast...uhmmmm, I think this one is well done.
I've learn to searched before asking on this forum....and not making a new SRI thread. Not every one like this forum, me I find it fun as hell and never boring.

bgianoni 09-02-2011 07:08 PM

To all the assholes who tried to rip on this person for asking a simple question, fuck off, just because your parents don't love you and you get bullied in school so you feel you have to make fun of others to make yourself feel better. It's people like you guys that piss me off, you go onto other people's forums and look for people that need help so you can make fun of them and say how dumb they are. Go "try" to get laid instead of sitting at your computers all day getting fat and making fun of people assfaces.

P.S. I was looking for information about certain intakes and I stumbled upon this. You people need to grow the fuck up :chairshot:

Mac21 09-02-2011 07:18 PM

@bgianoni... You're an idiot. If you wanna get on your soapbox about helping lazy fucks, do it at the democratic convention. Until then, politely fuck yourself.

Lolers. Your gay. Nuff said.

There is a big black dildo being passed around. You want it?

Cwpcasey 09-03-2011 08:47 AM

Never thought this thread would off like it did. Im not lazy and the reason I was asking was because I wanted to make sure that the places I was jacking the car up and putting the jack stands at where proper places. I didnt want to mess something up. I had changed my oil a couple times now on this car and just wanted to make sure. Thank you to all the people who understood and stood up to the people on here who have lives and want to be a key board tough guy...

jimmy 09-03-2011 12:41 PM

LOL. I thought this thread was about turning the MS3 into a donk.

For a question as simple as whether or not you were jacking up your car correctly you could have politely consulted your owner's manual. You get it with the car for a reason and it should be used as more than just a reference book. It will tell you the specific jack points your car has, and you should be able to spot them without the manuals help. Modern cars have notches cut out of the pinch welds along the frame indicating where the side jack points are, for starters. If not, than there is most likely an arrow or decal indicating a jack point.

No one here is really out of line for calling you out for this post. It's a generally known piece of information, and you don't need to consult the community to make sure you're doing it right, the manual would suffice.

This isn't a vendor-run forum. Our donations fund the site and it's bandwith usage bills. WE run the site as a community, so when bandwith and space is wasted with a question like this, no one takes it lightly.

I tried to make that as respectful as I could, and if you take offense at any of that than you can politely fuck off and go learn how to read your manual before asking stupid questions.

Cwpcasey 09-03-2011 01:28 PM

@ Mazdaspdmike. I understand and I did search/ look in my owners manual. Guess I didnt look hard enough. My point about donating was I get hassled into donating and I dont feel thats the right way to do it. Plus when people acting like they did why would that make me ( someone who hasnt donated yet ) want to? I knew that I was going to get some shit for the question but I wanted to make sure where I was using the jack was a solid spot thats all. As you can tell cause I didnt respond much I didnt really care what people where saying just wanted some info. Sorry if you guys felt the question was a waste of bandwith, but that wasnt my intentions.

Bucker 09-03-2011 01:37 PM

I use my transmission as the jack point for the front and the fuel tank for the rear

Fuck is this shit. All I see is blahblahblahblah.

If you don't like it here gtfo.

Let me explain something to you. If your cool you can hang. If you ask stupid fucking questions we will beat you until you leave.

And we won't give a fuck.
