I was just coming to post this..lol

seaching FTW.

jonspeed3 07-02-2013 01:56 PM

Pretty fair review IMO.
The car is showings its age, especially engine wise. Hoping Mazda crushes the competition with a bad ass new "speed" car.

Plus lmao at one of the comments said "Buy a volvo C30 instead." Lulz.

@daafisch, that guy talkin about the LSD completely contradicted him self after your responded...

I know and I called him out on it.

Mr.Bison 07-02-2013 02:02 PM

first off I wish I could of bought a review car because the reviewers seem to never have a problem with third gear grind.

second, this guy in multiple instances says he likes something about the car and then rates it 7/10. How is liking something and saying it's good warrant a 7/10?

faggot

breakfstincluded 07-02-2013 02:04 PM

genpu exterior 7/10

Kyle Undefined 07-02-2013 02:04 PM

I blame it all on Yeezy.

I've heard people say that they like the torquesteer in their 3 because it makes the car feel alive while it's accelerating. Ok. Sure. But will you be alive when it veers right into a brick wall?
seriously, some of these reviewers have driven high powered super cars, and they are fucking scared of our hotted up hatch?

i am constantly seeing this complaint, and can they just not drive or do they just HAVE to find something wrong with all that power?

breakfstincluded 07-02-2013 02:12 PM

yeah the torque steer people are pussies for sure lol

by now it's really become a bed time scary story the awd people tell about fwd cars

Another Critics Perspective on the clutch in a review:

ASSOCIATE EDITOR JAKE LINGEMAN: The Mazdaspeed 3 is by almost any measure the hottest hatch around. It has the most power, nearly if not the best handling and the tightest clutch this side of a Ford Mustang Cobra.

Jalopnik tends to rate things a 7 when they really like them, though. Unless it's a Lambo or Aston something that they lust over, you're not going to see many 8s or 9s. I thought that they were pretty consistent in regards to their established rubric, though I'd have rated higher on value, ride, and acceleration.

plak424 07-02-2013 03:03 PM

Is the WRX really faster? I thought every comparison I've seen has the MS3 ahead of the WRX

doctavus 07-02-2013 03:34 PM

They are big time quick to 60 over the MS3 but not on the highway they are not.

Not stock at least.

Top Gear hates the new ST so maybe there is some justice after all.

Great little Mazda...I really like it!

I dragged a friend of mine with a stock wrx when my speed was stock (not that I'm faster now lol). He got me at 60 but once I hit third gear I passed him up. Then he got an ap and a tbe and that changed things...

This guy drives all types of cars from every spectrum. Unlike other editors, he's not inflating the scores based on price range or category.

I also thought it was a very fair review.

Seriously, we need the whole story here. Does that one guy have an industrial leaf blower or something? Is the guy dead or unconscious and just flapping in the wind?

Yeah my buddy has a 13' WRX that my car was definitely faster than when it was stock, but he's got TBE now too. I've just got to get my DP and TP installed and get some E85 due to the shitty gas around here and we'll have to run again.

trash boat 07-03-2013 04:25 PM

67/100 isn't a bad score.

Jalopnik's scores just seem harsh because they use the same scale for every single car, from Mazda 3's to Astons and McLarens and shit.

snOhio 07-03-2013 04:37 PM

i don't really get how reviewers have so much trouble with torque steer. i wonder if mazda is giving them, ahh, 'massaged' cars with some extra HP on board. either that or they have scrawny little t-rex arms.

outshined 07-03-2013 05:35 PM

Ultimately I think all the crybabies are experiencing the effects of the limited-slip on less-than-perfect road surfaces. When one wheel tries to "climb" an imperfection like road crown or depressions from heavy traffic during hard acceleration, that is really what pulls the car around.

This all really reminds me of the folks who bitch about guns that don't have manual safeties. If you can't be safe with the trigger, don't handle the fucking gun.

When I told a guy at Mazda that I was driving one of his Mazdaspeed 3s he said to be sure and say this in the review: “You'll miss the torque steer when it's gone"
Interesting tidbit of info. Points strongly at a next gen MS3, by implication.

spdandpwr 07-09-2013 11:56 AM

Having come from the Honda side of things, I have nothing but great things to say about this car. Seriously one of my favorite cars. I even had a 2.0T Wolfsburg (so I know VWs offerings too). The interior does not feel cheap -- hop into a WRX or 2012 civic si and then call this cheap. Some people just love to hate...I'm not even a Mazda fan boy. I approached this car with an open mind and loved it. Hell, the everyday driver guys are also really liking the MazdaSpeed 3 (one of the reviewers thinks its better than the ST).

Haltech 07-09-2013 12:40 PM

Most people who review cars say, for magazines, can't drive for shit. They have particular cars they will always praise no matter what... BMW 3 series for instance...

They nitpick the little shit too.

Most car reviewers of these magazines are paid off or enjoy special perks. For example, there was this comparison of a base Viper ($115k) vs an SLS AMG ($295k) by Jonny Lieberman. The AMG won, who would have known that a $300k~ car beats a car that costs a little over one third. He even goes on to say that you can buy 3 Vipers for the price of an AMG but then you'd end up with 3 cars that are not as fast as the AMG - well no shit, I can buy approximately 60,000 hot dogs for the price of the AMG, what's the point?

If you go to IKEA, you can get 600,000 hot dogs for the price of an SLS AMG. Maybe more, if you ask for a bulk discount. But why would you do that when the hot dogs are $.50 to begin with? That's a freaking good deal for a hot dog.

Crap. Now I want a hot dog and some inexpensive and moderately stylish mass produced Swedish furniture. I'll be back in an hour...

Elusivellama 07-10-2013 01:13 PM

*Swedish-named furniture made in China

Also, $5 a hotdog includes a bun, and some dressing. Hot dog vendors gotta eat too.
