Jbarone SSP I just installed a JBarone SSP that i bought off a member...had some trouble since i have the stock airbox, gonna have to go back and fix it soon, or get a SRI....other than that, I LOVE how short the throw is now! its so amazing! Thanks for a great product Jamie! |
repost |
lol reposting of one's own experience? |
Lol I'm pretty sure I haven't reported a post about me installing a ssp....but yeah I love it, anybody thinking of buying one, go for it, although it is a bit clunky downshifting, I was expecting that. |
repost means "repost of jamie's ssp being awesome" |
This is true, I just wanted to express how Much I love it! |
Ah, a good repost then (: repost usually has bad connotations. |
Try the counterweight/heavy knob with it as well. Makes it even butter |

James Barone offers the plate, weight, knob, and bushings, which I can all vouch for having noticeable improvement for your shifting. But the plate and weight gave me the biggest boost away from noob w/ stick status. The counterweight and plate comes in a combo which you probably have. It's colored and not awkward crescent shaped like the OEM one, but a simple block. |
IMO, on a scale of 1-10 - 1 being work truck and 10 being S2k/RX8 shifter... 5 - Stock 5.5 - Rear Motor Mount 6.5 - above +Short Shifter & bushings 7.5 - above + SSP +counterweight + heavy knob 7.75 - above + synthetic fluid 8 - above + tweaking shifter cable |
daaayyuuumm, I'd like to see how the S2K and RX-8 aftermarket shifter goodies do if they're really up there in stock shifting prowess. or ours just suck? I better get around to MT-90 and motor mounts once JBR has a full set... |
Every little bit helps with the feel, but don't expect major changes. IMO the ~$500 I spent is worth it to not grind 3rd anymore or get locked out of 1st at a light. |
