Just installed Corksport sri/tip

Just got my cs sri/tip today and installed it at my job. This is my first engine mod on my ms3 and happy with it! Nice sound, fitment, and didn't throw a cell. I think my next mod is an AP or ssp.

Yep. Dito.

rmm is key man, i did the cs sri/tip than did the rmm, and said to myself. damn should have done the rrm first!

+1 to the RMM
With the AP you need a fuel pump upgrade

adrager622 10-08-2011 11:07 PM

You don't necessarily need the FP upgrade with the AP, you just won't get the most out of the AP without them. I would definitely get an RMM next then do the AP and FP internals install next.

While it is a good idea to upgrade your HPFP its not a given just based on mods. When you get your AP, monitor your fuel pressure. If its not holding a steady 1600+ or its dropping down to like 1k or less then you know.

I ran stock FP internals for like 6 months after I got my AP and with a pretty aggressive tune and had no problems. They never failed but i'm glad I got internals, they make the car more responsive and smooth.

Rmm it is then haha. After that definitely gonna get an AP!

How difficult was it?

I have absolutely no experience with working on cars, but I want to start upgrading and doing things myself.

Is this a good mod to start with no prior experience?

adrager622 10-09-2011 09:10 PM

Seriously, an intake is the easiest mod that can be installled. It's very straight forward and should take no longer then 45 mins tops. Just take your time and pay attention to what you're doing.

Ya its really easy, just take your time and try not to rush if its your first time. Pay attention to male sure everything is clamped down correctly and don't be yanking on things.

Its a pretty easy install. I don't know about 45 minutes though. I have never done anything like that before so it took me a bit longer and I was scared of hurting other stuff. The instructions are awesome so just follow them and be patient. The battery box will fight you so just work with it. The ECU cover has a stout little "clip" on it so just be careful cause I snapped on side of mine. (Still works though) Watch the video on how to make the paper clip removal tool. I used a 12 inch extender on my ratchet which made things easier. Removing the intercooler may help but isn't necessary. Oh and tighten the clamps but dont break them. I did. When the clamp started getting tough to turn go one turn and them STOP. Watch where the screw end of the clamp sticks as well. Mine stabbed through the ECU cables. You don't see them when they are moved so I had to turn the clamp which was easy. It is an easy mod and I can now do it in 45 minutes but for as a total noob be ready for some stress. JUST BE PATIENT. Your efforts are well rewarded with an awesome sound. Have fun!

That sounds like a whole lotta fail from just a basic intake install. Just sayin....

Agreed. Brownie has lost all modding privileges.

Paul 10-10-2011 07:20 AM

lol :( I installed my CS SRI/TIP/Airbox AT internals JBR SSP and did not have issues the the ECU thing, I did 90% of it w/o looking @ instructions... and I've never fucked around with a car like this either.

The main thing I remember is not to fuck up the Vac/boost tube L-shaped plastic thing that people posted about breaking.

(over torqued a screw but that was remedied with another screw)

robry 10-10-2011 07:38 AM

lol wow seriously? you say it was easy to install then you say you had all these troubles.

you should have found someone who has done it before to help you through it if you weren't confident. considering how easy the intake/tip is, please don't attempt a FP install yourself without help. noone wants to see you making a thread asking where to buy a new fuel pump
