Leaky BOV? Cork Sport Full Intake...
 

Installed the corksport full length intake back to the turbocharger (Thanks JDHiatt, fit went well from your MS3). Under part throttle acceleration, the damn thing sounds like the stock BOV is blowing off a bunch of air. When the car gets in to boost, the noise quickly goes away, indicative of the boost sealing the thing shut somewhat...

Is this a leaky stock BOV? I ordered a forge V1 from Cork last week, so I hope this noise goes away. It is annoying as hell.

That's what the turbo sounds like with an aluminum TIP.

Or you installed it wrong and have an air leak from that.

Your bpv won't leak this early in the game.

Unless it idles kind of funny, and you can hear that whistle at idle, you are fine.

Zero driveability issues. Idle is perfect. Just really noisy under part throttle, not a spooling sound either.
Well see what the v1 forge bpv does.

Does a cold air version or sure make things quieter?

It's the turbo spooling.

This is my third turbocharged vehicle, and I have never heard this. Not in my 1 G DSM, or 7.3 powerstroke.

In more detail, it sounds like air leaking under part throttle acceleration, and the sound diminishes as boost increases. Definitely NOT a spooling sound. The car sounds great under full boost :)

The Ko4 is quite loud even at light throttle

I have a CS Stage II and under part throttle it does do a pretty consistent hiss/whoosh what have you as air is drawn in, its pretty loud. I'm on the stock BPV as well.

Video would help but sounds like it is just the sound of the CS intake

This doesnt sound uncommon to me at all. Its usually what people buy intakes and tips for

i also had the CS SRI/TIP on my genpu and i think that sound at part throttle is the EBCS venting back to the intake, but that is just what i thought it was.

I got the JBR TIP and SRI (extra tube to make it a full CAI to be installed soon) and that shit makes the K04 spool noise and stock BPV hiss noticeable louder. I can hear it even at highway speeds. My GF even commented on it saying it was scary, lol. I personally love it! Can't wait to add some more mods to my car.

If you're not having any driving issue and it idles perfectly, I'm sure you're fine OP.

Based on the way you describe the noise it sounds normal from our SRI. The aluminum TIP does make it a little louder than a silicone TIP would.

Its letting you know that its sucking in air properly. Hissing or loud sqweal around the intake, clamp not tight
