And why would you need the map light on if it was light out? Hense having it turn on when the lights are on.

I see you have the infinity kappas...how did you mount the ugly ass tweeter? I was considering getting a set but the tweeter is a deal killer.

I bought a pair of tweeter bezels from (a junk-yard) the first couple years of regular Mazda 3 that came without the tweeters there (9 bucks each). They lined up just perfect. I used the surface-mounts that came with the Kappa's and an X-acto knife to carve down the bottoms of the mounts so that they sat flush against the ever-so-slight curvature of the bezels.

I'd do it differently if I had to do over. Infinity is damn near infamous for having overly hissy tweeters in their entire line-up, even the home audio. The sound stage, brightness, clarity, and accuracy is astounding, but my ears cannot handle these things.

Further understanding acoustics in the human-audible range yields that a 6x8 woofer isn't the greatest for producing accurate mids either. If I could get a mulligan, I would've gotten a nicer pair of 5.5in components, bought the conversion rings from crutchfield and gone from there. Some lower-level JL's would be great in these cars. Plus their tweets are small and likely to be recess-mount possible. The receiver's built-in DSP is actually very kind on reducing bass with added volume so as to prolong the life of the speakers. A bit pricey, but your ears will thank you.

Couple mores things if you're considering doing this. Get a bag of those pop-screws from a ford OEM parts surplus store of some sort and do NOT pull the door from the pocket as I did. Use a tool and pull it from the gap the tool creates. Took lots of super-glue to fix that mistake. Also make sure to get some of those waterproof foam baffles from crutchfield (12-dollars each) to put behind the speaker. This eliminates water and vibration. Anymore questions, PM me.
