There's no warranty to protect and cover paint chips made by rocks. If your salesman said this specifically when explaining the rest of your warranty, then I'd make an appointment with your sales man and his floor supervisor voicing or filing a complaint. At least just to let him know you think he's a goddamn liar.

To date I know of no warranty protecting paint unless its a manufacturer's defect, not driver use.

Salesman are just like customers I deal with...if they're talking....they're lying. If you can't read it, its not true.

I will never buy a warranty from a dealership again.. in 2006 I purchased a chevy cobalt w extended warranty, signed papers and everything warranty finanaced with car etc.. 2 years later the front lower control arm bushing were going bad I took it into a dealership with my warranty paperwork and they could not find any info on it. I spent weeks on the phone with GM warranty company arguing and faxing and copying shit to them.. final resolution dealership was pocketing the cash for a full year before they closed down.. they never filed the warranty paperwork to the warranty company and general motors gave me a one time 50% of repairs covered bullshit.. of course dealer fix price was outrageous and cheaper for me to just buy the parts and figure it out myself.


So in the end I got screwed even though I still have paperwork stating I purchased the warranty but because dealership went out of business and never filed thier paperwork I dont get to see any of it. This was a GM dealership too not some hole in the wall.. GM wouldnt even stand behind it.


moral of the story never ever ever buy a warranty from a dealership.


Of course mazda tried to push warranty on my '10' cx-7 and I said no thank you! fed them my i got screwed story and they stopped pushing it on me.

I got a 10 yr/100K extended warr thru the stealership...milked those motherfuckers for about 11 grand worth. The warr. company was like are you fucking kidding me? But had to cover. Love it when the Mazda tech working on your car is your homeboy. Put a new clutch in my car too at his house in 1 day for $300. You got bent over like one of my bitches though...sorry to hear.

I had a dealership sell me a base model 350z as an Enthusiast Model 350z. Ever since then I've made sure what I sign is read thoroughly and that I know more about the car than they do. Just take it as a hard lesson and move on. When I went to buy my MS3, I was probably the most annoying customer ever. I walked out of the dealership at least 4 times and I was anal about reading paperwork and them itemizing everything they were charging me for in writing.

It sucks but hey, you learned a valuable lesson today.

OP; If you paid 5 grand the warranty is through a separate company. I think theres some communication barriers here. You should have gotten paperwork with the warranty, and it should have a third party company like Zurich or something.

Karma is a bitch, if a dealer pushes a warrenty walk away from the vehicle. I found out the hardway. Dealers push warranties on used cars because they have a failure and the dealer doesn't want to pay to fix. 3 Months after i bought my MS6, I canceled my warranty. I thought the car drove fine... 2 weeks later the engine on the car blew and it's been sitting since Jan to be fixed.

My warranty through Zurich had all those options. Mods, Potholes, Paint Chips, etc etc etc. The extended warranty would literally cover a shit load. Was a peach, call up they give you a service department and you're off. Even covered rentals and shit. I only canceled it because I was thinking about selling and wanted to bring the car back from being upside down. WORST. MISTAKE. EVER.

So, tl;dr. You prob do have a good warranty that covers that shit. But its not through Mazda and the dealerhsip has no clue. The Zurich warranty paid for the costs with a company credit card over the phone to the dealership. So if you have Zurich, its likely the dealership has no clue.

On a 350z the base model doesn't come with a limited slip differential where as the enthusiast model does. Then the track model came with upgraded brakes and some other shit. It was an actual package. But I didn't know what to look for and didn't think anything about its lack of traction control buttons or anything like that. Which is why I came here before I bought my speed. I didn't want to get burned again.

I will admit that when I bought the z I was stupid and just wanted a fast/ flashy car. I'm sure we have all made similar mistakes in our lives though and we were all noons at one point.

The only thing you can do is learn from it and move on.

Good grief, $5000 is another $100 roughly per month you could be saving on your payment. Usually every $1000 is $18-20 more per month. You got bent over BUT, life is a learning experience.

Rock chips and things like that are typical wear and tear. If your car is outdoors at all, It's prone to anything happening to it.

sorry to hear that OP, i went through the same situation when i bought my first car a mazda6 got ripped hard, but i learned from that mistake and read researched before buying the speed3 without getting ripped off etc.
