Welcome potential owner. Thank you for showing interest in the Mazdaspeed 3. Before you purchase, automatically budget an additional $1000 for:
Compression Check (Before purchase)
Autotech High Pressure Fuel Pump (aka HPFP)$350 new
Cobb Access Port (aka AP) Tuner v2 or v3 (Used go for ~500).

If the engine is still in good health at this point, and you want the car, buy and install the HPFP, and flash the ECU with the AP to Stage 0, bare minimum.

The members in this forum do not take kindly to prospective noobs like yourself not doing research and/or making someone else feed you information that has been discussed 1000 times.

These cars are not Hondas, and require a bit more maintenance. I would suggest reading the forms for a few hours so you can scratch the surface of what you may get yourself into.

Read the fucking welcome PM....you have made a few useless threads already. Off to a rough start brownie.

They last as long as they have an intelligent owner.

So in your case, probably not that long.

96,001 miles is the expected lifespan.

Just 20 more miles and I hit 100K; at which time the factory installed self destruct device blows the hood off and the engine disintegrates into a cloud of rainbow sparkles shooting up into the sky like the 4th of July.

A word to the wise (or at least the superstitious), don't tempt fate!

I couldn't agree more. However, I am not superstitious. If my car shoots rainbow sparkles out of the hood I would be stoked. Forged build time!

Totally kidding.

If you don't have intelligence, how would you get the required knowledge to do said maintenance?

There's a reason Forrest Gump ran across the country instead of drove.
