a little help with rmm install please. lol

so I was getting prepared to install my rmm today and quickly found out that there is no damn way im getting my jack under there lol. Not a big deal, my last car was the same. So I went to canadian tire and bought some ramps. they looked low enough but of course they are not lol. So I came on here and did some research and it seems some ppl have had some errors when trying to jack this bad boy up. My question is if I had an extra jack and a friend, could we both jack up the car on each side at the same time to get the jack stands in place safely? I was reading it wasn't safe to jack up one side at a time, but I don't see why this would not work...so if I am wrong please let me know so I don't die or wreck my car lol. Screw a couple 2x4's together in a waterfall effect, done. Had to do this for a long time cuz I couldn't afford a low-profile jack for my firebird.

If u had to change a tire would you jack up the whole car or just the 1 side with the 1 jack that is supplied? Just use what u have. Lift up one side place the stand under the carthen go to the other side and repeat.

Canadian Tire sells a ramp extender that goes on the standard metal ramps. I have those and it's good enough. They're red in color.

I used a scissors jack from my truck since it has the long extensions for the crank handle. I slid the jack under the brace next to the oem side jack points and cranked the handle from the front if the car. Then i put the jack stands at the oem side jack points.

I also have low profile Race Ramps which are 67" long and in two pieces on each side.

the way I do it is... use the OEM scissor jack on one side... once it's up, from up front use a floor jack... take scissor jack out and replace with stand... then go to the other side, which is high enough now to skip the scissor jack part. Thats what works for me.

I just use a couple of pieces of 2x4 that have been angled on one end in front of my ramps to get onto them... This even works with my coilovers.

I love my low profile jack, gets the job done. Jack stands cost little, but for oil changes ramps are the best. Just make sure they don't slide away on you. Always good to have a spoter,my wife helps me a lot when it comes to working on the cars.

if your doing rmm just jack the driver side up with the supplied jack and you can get to it. what i did and it didnt take to long.

I didn't feel like paying for a low profile jack...so I built some ramps out of some 2 x 12's so I could get to the front jack point with my regular jack. Cheaper than other solutions I've found. I've never felt comfortable jacking up a car from the side...I dunno why...just never liked doing it.

Until you rock the car trying to loosen a bolt and the car rocks enough to tip the jack. If you are working under a car the only safe way is ramps or jackstands

I got a low profile jack from harbor freight 1.5 Ton Lightweight Aluminum Racing Jack with Rapid Pump® . This one has a higher lift than the one mentioned above. I cut a small square of 2x4 to put on top of it (to prevent bending the metal) and use the factory jack location. Jack one side high enough to put a piece of 2x6 under each fron wheel. At this point you can put the jack under the center cross member under the X stamped in the cross member. I also painted the X with some orange fingernail polish to find it later. You can raise the front up high enough to put a jack stand under each side at the factory jack location. I am reluctant to use ramps on this car with the stick and low stance. You have bigger balls than me crawling under a 3200 pound gut smasher with a rinkydink scissors jack.

Fair enough. I suppose I was also envisioning the few times that I've had to get under cars on the side of the road, where I of course had a wheel/tire removed and placed strategically under the edge of the vehicle as a failsafe...

News to me. Been doing it for years on cars too low for clearance.

Do it. It's fun, you get to see how rigid the car is.

MS3's are cool. The chassis is so solid, the whole side of the car lifts up.
