Looking to buy soon but ?s 1st. Wuddap fellas! Getting pretty close to purchasing 2012 Speed3 but I have some questions (some may be beaten to death) about pricing. First off Scherer Mazda in Peoria, IL has seemed to be pretty cool since i've started my relationship with them. They let me drive some of their miatas in parades a few times since I am a local news personality (benefits of the media) and a Mazda enthusiast. On that note they let me take the speed3 out for a day on my own to drive it around and get the feel of it. So they have been good to me so far and say they want me to drive their miatas in more parades when they come up. Heres what I got from the dealer a month ago on pricing. Keep in mind the 2012 Speed 3 is tech PKG. Base = $24,000 + freight (795). Scherer Mazda discount = $751 so back down to $24,044. I would assume when they gave me the quote; it was for the only one they have on the lot but pretty sure 24K is for the base w/o tech. But I know 24K is a sweet deal for a 2012 w/ tech. My question for you guys is, does this sound right? I know they'll come off the final price a bit because I can haggle because they want me to keep driving for them in more parades. Do you guys think also since I plan on purchasing in November that they will want to come off more because of end of year stuff? I've seen some people say OTD of 24K for 2012 w/tech. Does OTD include EVERYTHING (tags, title, tax all other stuff)? Any insight, hazing or shit talking is appreciated! Thanks :You_Rock_Emoticon: And I will donate once I get the car! Clear that up before all that starts lol! |
Cool someone one kinda close to me. I bought my gen one from BMW of peoria i think i got an ok deal on it. wasnt abused to bad. Not sure on the pricing, i would say buy a gen one instead of PU. Go VIP and hit up the local NATOR chapter. most guys in IL are up in chicago but there are a few scattered around the midwest. i am in macomb. Oh and another though if you are gona mod the thing, a gen one might be better, 2012 owner have been depressing lately, that and buying used you wont have to worry about voiding your warrenty so much. but thats up to you man. There are some nice gen ones in the for sale section ATM |
It wont actually be 24k out the door as you will have to pay interest unless you're the luckiest motherfucker on the planet and you somehow land 0% APR. Myself and several others on this forum may have misled people unintentionally with some of our posts. I personally purchased my MS3 for 21058 STICKER price and erroneously said that is what i paid out the door. Not so, i still have to pay 3.5% interest on my loan so the total cost of the car is indeed more than just the sticker price. In your case, you can always ask for more money off if you're feeling punchy. BUT, i would say that 24k on a tech package really isnt bad. What interest rate did they quote you? |
True question is....do you want the car?..:yes(1):..then buy it. |
@Magsz I believe it was around 2.1%. I can't remember the exact number. It's at home on paper. I'm actually in between morning shows right now. Been at work since 2am this morning. On their website they have it listed as 27K... @Deldran Macomb nice! I've been there once or twice to do some news stories! Funny I forecast for your county! Rainy start to today! I test drove a 2011 up at BMW and they just gave me the run around. Never called me back. I didn't appreciate them very much! |

Yea it was raining this morning, wish we would have got all this rain like 4 months ago the crops could have used it. What station do you work for. All my local news comes out of quincy |
Great interest rate. It is up to you then to determine whether or not you want to try and get a couple more bucks off of the deal. Make your decision and go for the damned thing and then post pics and nudes of your co-workers. |
Ah word! My friend Lindsey works there! I'm at WMBD 31 the CBS affiliate right here in Peoria! Yea I can't count on my hands how many stories i've done on farmers and drought this year! Kinda sad. @Magsz Haha No matter what I'll get one in November!! and I wish I could but the ethical side of me wants to keep my job! |

Got mine Gen2 last summer 2010 with tech package and 6500 miles on the OD for 24,000, after TTL, extended warranty, and BDP I wrote a check for 28,500. I've had no problems with my car at all, mechanically or at the dealership, which installed most of my mods. The Gen1 has better interior but after that I think the Gen2 kicks its ass, well that's my 0.02 but in the end it's up to you. Good luck and the drought down here in Texas sucked also until just recently. |

Morning shows? What do you do? Just curious. :) |
I got my 12 genpu with 123 miles on the odo for 22,495 non tech |
@zmarko I'm the meteorologist for one of the news stations here in town! And did you get a tech for $22k? I just got an email today from Scherer Mazda that went out to their emailing list. It said they had a record sales in august (I believe, we did a news story on car sales here in town last month) and September has been unbelievable slow so they're going to make deals on all makes and models. I texted the owner and said I'de be in tomorrow to see what kind of deal they would make me. |
I just purchased a non-tech for $22147.xx plus TTT in FL. I would check around and see if any dealers in your state have a better deal. If so you could use it as a barganing tool to bring to your local dealership to see if they would match it. |

@Weathermane: You need to learn how to say 'NO' & it never hurts to get up and leave the negotiation table to magnify your feelings....they will break (how much is up to you). |

What you gotta do is use the dealers against each other. Get your quote from one dealer, and take it to the other to have them beat that deal. Then do that back and forth until you get what you think is the best price. :) |
^^ Word I figured that was probably the best method. I'm meeting with the owner today after work to discuss a OTD price. So if it's not good enough then I'll wait and keep saving like my originally plan which was to buy in Nov. to save more for a down payment. And it is a cool job....I get paid to be fucking wrong lol! SCORE! But shhhh gotta keep the everybody believes what the weather guy says act going..:privateeye: |
You get paid to fuck around with probability... I dont think anyone else has as huge of a margin of error as you fucksticks do. :P Good luck with the car purchase. Let us know how it goes. |
Man the TECH is gonna be more expensive plain and simple. If you could get $24000 OTD then I would say you didnt do to bad. I got my 2010 w/tech used Jan 2011 with 13k miles for $21k sticker. Non-tech guys dont know about the fancies so they are unrefined and bottom eaters (jk fegs) Dont get a gendone. Its a fucking fail trap waiting to happen....turbo, vvt, motor, etc |

Wait a little while 2013 are coming out soon, I just bought one two months ago and then I was on the dealer site and they have 2 '13s in transit....... I'm an idiot lol |
Well I went in there today and checked in. They came off a 1k on the tech and said they would apply to a non-tech if I wanted. The GPS I would never use. I have an Iphone for that and I'm a guy, my brain is practically a GPS. I could get around the keyless & push-start. The car is so small I wouldn't think there would be to many blind spots if you adjust the mirrors the right way so fuck the blind-side bullshit. I'm thinking non-tech is more for me. So far for non-tech they have me down to $23,044. I'm determined to get lower than that... |

Good luck getting a 13 down to the price of a 12. The 13 is cool and all but i would rather have the extra money in my pocket for a year and a half worth of gas or a mountain of coke...either one... :P |

23,044 besides the 23 part when they gave me an odd number like that I said what's up with the 44 dollars salesman replied its only $44 to which I responded then it should be no problem for a big dealership to bring that down right? Haha I dime is a dime I keep in my pocket screw the dealer tapafuck |

I got my 2012 w tech for 24,3xx and ext. warranty+ ttl otd was like 27,035. I'd imagine a 13 would have been closer to 30k otd. This does however give you an upper hand when the 13's hit the lot for a bit more negotiation on the 2012, you could probably get one closer to 22 |
@Spec Thats what I was thinking! I know most of the time people have bad relationships with dealerships but these guys are cool, I mean they let me put miles on their other cars for show lol. I want to give them my business but I'm going to call nearby dealerships and use the 23k and see if they will give me a better deal...then take it back to the other guys and say hey..just down the road they'll give it to me for this....probably make some wiggle room in there somewhere. O yea when is the projected release date for the 13's? |
Quote:
yea i needed a new car too, my wife's tribute was about to take a huge dump, so we traded it and let it dump on the dealer |
Get Internet quotes from dealers within a few hundred miles. Take that with you when negotiating. Don't let them mind fuck you with " this is free and that's free" business. Determine price of vehicle, of the other stuff is free then there is no point for them I bring it up. |
^^ Thats what I did this morning..got a quote for a non-tech 20 miles away for 22,497 and got an E-price from Indiana for 21,402 non-tech. I made sure they both emailed me quotes so I have a hard copy to take into the dealership next time I go. |
I'd get tek, unless your going to be a pro racer. All the extras are fun ad the advance key is bad ass as well. Make your mind up first so you don't regret it later. |
Aight fools...Went in today and they came down from 23,044 to 22,497. KBB on my cx-7 is 11,1xx now and they're going to give me 12k for it. Prob going in tomorrow and putting my deposit down and it'll be in next week sometime...talk about fucking stressed! Never bought a new car before...so its like stress = 49% and 51% fucking stoked.. |
Ask for invoice. That's what I got Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2 |
I tried! I just don't know how much more I can haggle lol. There already giving me ~1k over what the KBB is on my trade-in...any advice on what to do to get the price lower? |

If you can wait till the end of the year you'll definitely get a better deal as they try to reduce inventory for the new year models. If you can't now is good also, end of month salesman trying to make bonus and sell that last car, even at a loss to get the high number of cars sold..,bonus. My father worked at a dealership and told me salesman would lose a1,000 bucks on a deal but sell over a certain number of cars and get a 3,000 dollar bonus. So keep plugging away you got nothing to lose. |
If you really want a speed3 that bad then just get it. These fegs are going to keep dropping the price goal you should shoot for and next thing you know your gonna try to get sub 20k for a brand new speed3. Dealer will only go so much before they will not try to work with you any more. How do I know? I have friends and family who are sales managers/car dealers so you can only haggle to much before they say take it or leave it. Good luck |
^^Thanks guys for all the info! I put my deposit down yesterday to reserve the car. It should be here Wed. Ended up at 22,497 +ttl. I don't think it;s the best deal I could have gotten but the experience was good and I will continue to drive their miatas in parades in future so it's worth it to me...Good news is I worked out a 20% tint on them before I drive away so woot! |
