Lost to a STi tonight

Well as it turns out my only real run was a loss. I had a good run tonight against a 2008 STi. From around a 30 roll he got a good jump on me and for the most part barley held a car length on me. i pull in to the gas station ahead and so does he. I told him I didnt think I could hold with a STi but I gave it a shot. He then asked me what I had done to it, I said nothing more than a used Injen CAI. He looked pretty surprised especially since he told me he had a full exhaust, DP, intake and Cobb top mount intercooler. Not too shabby I must say! One day STi, oh one day......

SRI+ race pipe + e85 + tune = murder STI

Thats what I like to hear. e85 is hard to come by around here though.

well even without it, just the race pipe intake and tune you should beat him.

If you're not already tuned, then spend a few extra bucks, get yourself a turbo inlet pipe, race pipe, and a tune from someone on here and you will be set.

Yeah I am new around here but I am a Master tech. AP and FP internals are for sure my next move. Question to you guys about the AP. Like I said I am a tech for MINI and we have several people that come by and are too afraid to install their AP tunes. All the maps
I have seen are just pre set mats for whatever bolt on combo you have. I see a lot of guys doing custom tunes here especially Hypnotics. Is this all done through AP?

The tl;dr version: the AP is for flashing maps, datalogging, and monitoring. COBB makes tuning software called ATR (Accesstuner race) that can me used to modify and save the maps, which are then uploaded via the AP.

That's a quick and dirty summary, you'll have to do your own research to fill in the blanks.

Good places to start:

MazdaSpeed 3/6 - ECU Computer Tuning - Mazdaspeed Forums

E-Tuners / Custom Hardparts - Mazdaspeed Forums

A good place to start. A little out of date, but the basics are covered.

no fly bys be either of us. we were trying to talk with the windows down and that wasnt happening so he saw me pulling into the station and so did he. Actually a pretty cool guy. I figured him to be some cocky young guy that mommy and daddy help him with modding his car but no, good guy.
