Made an axleback for me and a friend
 

I was tired of the stock sound of the axleback and wanted to also open up the flow. I made a 3" stainless axleback in my garage :-). I am extremely Happy with the results. What do you all think?

What happened to the tips on your car?

What tips are those on your friends?

What do you mean the tips on my car. I wanted the tips to looks like Porsche tips, where one goes into the other and also smaller than the 4-4.5" out in the market.

The ones on my buddys car are 4" tips he bought, not sure from where though.

bet that was way cheaper than any aftermarket, now make me a catback for my 6:smokin:

I am going to be making a local a catback for his speed 6 here in the next couple of weeks. Lets see how that turns out. Def cheaper than most but i cannot compete with speed daddy. I have no idea where they get piping so cheap to profit on making a $350 exhaust.

I am working on a single exit for a local and will have it done this weekend :-). I will post pics.

Nicely done! I still don't quite understand why the axleback's on the market cost what they do. I wish I was in florida so I could pick one up!

They charge so much because of R&D. Then they send the info to manufactoring and then they get a kit. Then either a person or a machine welds the kits together in a jig. All that has to be paid for. I will tell you that even doing it myself, with tips and all i am shy of $200 for materials. I had a guy wanting to buy the exhaust on my car. I daid give me $350 and it is yours. He looked at me like if i was asking for 5k. Lol

I still have a couple jobs before i get to the Speed 6, but it will happen soon.

I understand their process, but thats a hell of a markup even still. Producing things in bulk, and buying supplies in bulk will decrease costs substantially over what you're liking having to pay for your supplies. Exhaust shops are able to do axleback's in the $150-200 range and still make money. Granted their welds and the steel won't be as nice. I wouldn't have a hard time paying $350 for a axle back if the welds were nice and the steel was good quality, but getting close to $500 for an axleback is too much.

I def agree with you on that. Since i am not a company I am not able to get benefits of buying in bulk. Yeah the steel they use at muffler shops are horrible and the only way to weld it is with their wire feeder welders. I have tried to weld that type of piping with my Tig and it is extremely hard and the bond does not seem strong at all. Now when I weld stainless i have beat it with a sledge hammer and the pipe breaks before the welds :-). That is the main reason why I made mine. Then more and more people showed interest so here we are.

Is this straight pipe no cats or mufflers? I have only a resonator in my exhaust and I feel it isn't anywhere near as raspy sounding.

Just realized you are running bnrs3. Maybe thats the difference.

This is straight pipe, no resonator, only a high flow cat on the Cobb DP, which i dont think it`ll make any difference, That`s why we are making the mid pipe with this resonator:

I know I love it, but the neighbors don't, and also at my work I Park at a enclosed parking lot, everytime I leave work on a cold start I activate all alarms in a 10 car radius lol, I been parking in the roof just because of that. But now cold starts aren't bad and wot [emoji7] [emoji7]

I really need one of these, and I'm in Tampa too. Only thing is I'd want two resonators and a full catback.

I know they say the stock muffler and piping isn't very restrictive, but I'm pretty sure it's affecting my power output around 400.

Only with axle back i gained 8 to 10 hp on Vdyno, for what is worth....

His and mine when they were Being Built, he also got an old IC core and fabbed the end tanks along with the whole Piping kit, I will see if I can find pictures.

man y cant this be available for us on the reg especially the speed6's.... who even makes cheap catbacks for speed6s I never research them, but im considering with my BT build just not to have the stock one lol
