Made a camcorder mount... 2 Attachment(s) Decided I wanted something like a go pro but better. The suction cups are rated at 100 lb's each so its extremely strong. Got a canon HD camcorder and their polycarbonate water proof housing, so in my mind its as durable as the go pro but with significantly better video quality. Hope to get some of the race's here in Austin with it at our meets. Will get a video up when I have time, just wanted to share this in case anyone else is in the same predicament I was. |
Wow looks good dude nice bbs by the ways |
What's wrong with the HD Go Pro quality? This looks slightly less aerodynamic, but good work nonetheless. |

Not a bad deal. I've been wanted the go pro 720p model just to get shots for awhile, not too concerned about hd. |

You could also use that thing to pull some dents out of your car if you get them. |
would you speak more on the suction cup assembly? was that an already built part, or did you assemble that yourself? |

So, when is the on car vid test coming? By the way you cam mount looks pretty good, almost movie production good. For the TV show Viper, they filmed at my dads work and he took me on the set to see the cars and other stuff. You set-up look a lot like what I've seen that day beside the Viper. |
Nice handy work, what kind of adjustability do you got? |
Yeah, cameras are a dime-a-dozen, I can newegg reviews for them, I'm interested in more details about that mount. That thing looks serious. Doesn't look like you'd be losing that at high speeds! Build notes, or link to the product if it was purchased. |
haha he built that thing. i forgot where he got all the materials but i know the suction cups are linked pairs. then he connected them with 2 cross bars i believe aluminum. then between the bars he mounted a fully adjustable swivel from a tripod. it looks awesome in person really. |
Really interested in this not so much for my slow car, but being in Houston with the big things that go on here each year, I don't know how many lost GoPro discussions I saw around the net after TX2K12 a couple months ago, all the supercars and bikes just killing it on the streets all night haha. Step 1, build this; step 2, use it to barter rides in 180+ MPH cars; step 3, glorious high speed profit..... |

Delkin Devices Fat Gecko Dual-Suction Camera DDMOUNT-SUCTION B&H I didn't feel confident enough in that mount to trust the camcorder and housing. The camcorder housing weighs more than the camcorder itself, but I have no doubt it will protect against rocks and shit. I didn't want to pay $70 for something I could make better! The suction handles are these right here: Amazon.com: FastCap HOD-DOUBLE Handle On Demand: Home Improvement The head that is currently on there was only good until about 60 mph, then it would tip back so I ordered this and it will be here later today: Amazon.com: Redged RP-2 Professional Ball Head Pro-series: Camera & Photo @TiGraySpeed6 |
Definitely extreme. Hows the sound quality since the casing is meant to be used underwater? |

Shitty, been thinking about running a cheap sony mp3 recorded taped to the rear bumper and putting that sound over the video. I've actually encountered a bit of the problem with the mount. The new head is 10X stronger however it allows for a lot more vibration as it's metal on metal. The camcorder has great image stabilization but is a different design than the go pro's and while it has superior imaging qualities right now the vibrations are ruining the videos. Need to figure something out, a few rubber washers helped but nothing too amazing. |
