These cars can be made very very fast. They are great fun and personally, I like the way they look. I appreciate the sleeper... However, they are obviously a different car than the Z and although they seem to be made to excel at roll racing and such - they are still not RWD sports cars and for the most part people on MSF recognize this and recognize that the Z also has its relational strong points. I recognize what my car can and can't do and I guess the reason I trolled your forums for a bit was that it's one of my peeves when I encounter other car enthusiasts that don't seem to know shit about what they drive or what others are capable of... and believe me - we have had more than our fair share pop up here on MSF even during my fairly short membership... and they, for the most part, aren't treated very well either - no matter if they happen drive a MS3 or not. It was just a bit annoying to see so many over there in Z land jumping on the ignorance band wagon and it allowed to go unchecked. :wink: |

speed 3's make an easy 300-320whp/350lb ft of torque with ~1.5k in mods (ap, big intake, fuel pump internals, downpipe, motor mounts) and are a similar weight to z's. They handle very well for a fwd platform and have room to haul shit. It's not that fucking complicated @MS3Me; |

Well you still here, I have to give you that... If you are serious there is only one way to tell and that is time, I really hope and suggest that you UPGRADE your Z to a MS3, its a AWESOME and practical car, not to mention that is a totally sleeper and with little money invested it will smoke most of the cars that you come across |

Wow this fuckery is crazy but I'll try to add some useful notes. First if the OP has not been in the general info threads and build threads to see the upgrade paths and all the info about the ms platforms go there spend a day reading. You don't even have to search for build diaries or setups. There are stickies for parts that include reviews, prices, and vendor links. Ill even give you the links http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/forum/f588/ The start hear thread is where you should start. It will give you everything you need to know from how a disi engine works to what you should not post in a thread. Now for my 2 cents on the Z vs ms3. Obviously no one with a z wants to consider thinking that a 24k wagon can compete with a purpose built sports car but the sad reality of it is the Z is the last thing on my mind when it comes to competition. Sure there are some built ones and I have a few friends with turboed z's. hell the shop I hang with has a crew of z/g purpose built race cars. Soho Motorsports and momentum. They make the most popular z/g turbo kits out but back to the point. No smut buckets at the beach probably don't flock to the ms3 riding down the strip like they do a z, the ms3 will be cheaper to mod and you will get more power per mod and more power per dollar invested on every mod on the ms3. Other things people don't talk about are the features. I have a genwon GT with self leveling HIDs, speed sensing windshield wipers, Bose 6disk in dash with sub(really not that special but better than a lot of stuff) the seats are decent, I love em. Auto AC is cool, and a few other little things in the car that make it just more fun to drive and not mess with stuff. Performance wise i still can't see the argument. The only z to beat me was a modded nismo with just about every bolt on. He beat me by a few feet from 40-120. Not even a gap between the cars and I was running intake and dp no tune. On a road corse I think the z may run a little faster than a stock ms3 on those shitty stock tires but smaller autox courses I haven't seen a z out run a ms3. Fun to drive factor. Nothing like hitting the gas and the turbo throwing you back. Yeah n/a and instant tq is cool but the way this power is applied and how aggressive you tune will make you like the car or love it. There's no hate either way. |
