It read -33 earlier, and this is without windchill. Was About -40 C with windchill.

Sometimes I think I'm driving the wrong car for this city. Summer won't arrive till may/June, which most likely will consist of rain. And be over by August/September. FML ?

Ya it cranks. Slowly, But surely it does. (And this is after being out for 8 hrs unplugged, hasant failed me yet) then BOOM it fires up, idling at 2k, intake sucking in the crisp -30 cold air making the car sound like a jet engine, and above all else the UR exhaust roars to life, and keep roaring till idle comes down. everything is stiff as hell, I can barely push down the shifter to get into reverse, the clutch takes its time to bounce back.

And then there's the suspension. Wow idk what it is but everytime I go over bumps there is hard crunching sounds from front/back.

Yup that's my driving experience in winter here. Maybe I'll snap a video today after work when I fire her up.

Ah, you guys will get a Chinook pretty soon. I spent 16years in Calgary and yes it drops pretty low sometimes but the air is dry. Even one x-mas we droped the top on the MX-5, the Chinook winds brought the temp up to +13celcius.

So be brave, and dont crack your engine block.

I just had mine out in the snow for the first time today. I was expecting the worst because of the stock Dunlop SP Sport "summer tires." It did better than I expected. There was only an inch of precip but it was a pretty slippery mix of snow and ice. It isn't great but it still does a little better than most of the RWD cars I've had. My $.02

Tune: My own (based on the v210 and v231 Cobb OTS maps but ramped way up)

Street creds:
- Fastest known K04/93 MS3/driver with only an AP, CDFP upgrade, intake, and tune | 13.37@106.83mph on stock Dunlops (2.04 sec 60' time, full curb weight, 75*F ambient temp)
- Has gone an indicated 146mph on three occasions now.

Yes I will help you tune your K04/pump gas car; I have much less experience than the major players but I also charge you $0 and can turn you around quickly. 4 satisfied customers and counting...

Yep, I understood that. It was as cold in CGY, my friends complained all week how fucking cold it was in Alberta. I rather have that cold weather than this freezing rain we are getting in Montreal. I miss the dry air of Alberta.

Drove mine through the first snow storm on the 401-402 highway in Ontario a few weeks ago.

Last year with all seasons I got stranded on the 402 when a ridiculous blizzard hit.

This year learned my lesson. Dedicated snow tires and avoid the 402 at all costs. Made it through just fine.

Want to pull the trigger on some winters. I am going with either the Firestone ($12 cheaper) or the Generals from TireRack on 16" steelies. I realize they are both most likely the same as far as performance and have read a majority of the info on this thread.

Does anyone have any valuable opinion on either tire? If I don't get the TPMS installed all that will happen is the light will be on in the dash? When I put the stocks back on the light should go out? Sorry this is my first vehicle with TPMS. I am looking for winter driving conditions mostly. I am in an area where we experience few snow storms and get far more ice/slush than snow. Please let me know as I am going to order today.

I have the Firestones on my MS3. Not nearly as good as the Blizzaks I have on my GTP, but even a crappy snow tire is better than just about any A/S tire in the snow.

Bot having TPMS sensors in the wheels wont hurt a thing (I don't have them in my snow setup). The light will go back off on its own when you put the stock wheels back on.

Thanks this is what I was looking for. I know you get what you pay for but I think if I can save $60 a corner that will get me some extra tires next season, if necessary.
