The mustang is as fast or faster than an m3 around a road course. It doesn't offer the same level of confidence, but as far as numbers go it's pretty amazing. And do you know how fast a stock c6 z06 actually is? Like, really fast.

EDIT: I can't believe I'm raising this thread from the dead. I just think this guy is an idiot.

Yea man, this guy is a fucking IDIOT for sure !!!!

I test drove a 2012 mustang gt, very nice car but could not pull the trigger on it, picked the ms3 instead, I love turbo cars and could not pass on functionality of a hatch.
I also had trouble with the solid axle in the back... That's a huge issue, it may handle great on nice roads but wait until you hit a bump. If I had to pick a muscle car, I would get the Camaro SS with the track package (1LE) and call it a day.

Just to add something to this with regard to snow. Everyone cries "Oh it's RWD and it sucks in the snow" Well yeah if you DON'T put SNOW tires on it.

I had an E30 BMW and an E36 BMW M3 and put four snows on them. Drove just fine even in deeper snow.

In the end its the tires that are making contact and if you expect crappy all-season tires to save you then you are mistaken.

Every car I buy I make sure I get the smallest and narrowest black and round snow tire for it. Pointless to spend a fortune on them especially since the most expensive can't be studded. Always bought studdable too. Cause you never know when ice storms will pop up. Remember 1996.

Out of the box the MS3 is the handler of the group. But no amount of suspension tuning gets around the front weight bias.

I like the GT. But the brakes and suspension would have to go.

Anyone with basic suspension knowledge knows that GM has a pretty mean setup in the ZL1/CTS/ZR1. Puts the Boss 302/GT 500 to shame. More about the MR tech here:
