Glad this hasn't happened to me with the MS3, and hopefully never will because I moved out of state from my family! Had this happen three times with two different cars... My dad backed into my car twice pulling out of the driveway and never said anything until I said something, because he happened to hit the same spot both times which just so happened to be where I already had some damage. I questioned it when I noticed it seemed to be getting worse. Grandma also backed into my last car and she had back up sensors and a back up camera! :smh: Luckily those were beaters, so I wasn't too upset; would be a totally different story with the MS3 though, I'd need new family.

TL;DR My family can't back out of driveways safely, and you need to get this taken care of through his insurance not yours. Fast.

my "at the time good friend" was driving his bike drunk back to my house, he low sided it into my lifted truck, fucked the wheel, bed and bottom jam of the truck, (didnt have my step sides on at the time). Well long story short he kept saying he told his insurance company and there was a claim, i waited two weeks and no one contacted me, i called his insurance company to find he never filed it. Got my truck fixed, no more friend. Hopefully the in laws are better people then that.

if he refuses to take care of it, all you should have to do is call his insurance company and tell them he hit you while you were parked. I don't think there's much he can do once they're notified.

Yeah, it's a dick move, but he should have taken care of it himself (if push comes to shove). Like others have said. nobody to blame but himself.

So we talked about it and he refused to give me his insurance info even the insurance name. He said that his insurance told him that it was my fault and i was to fix his truck... I called my insurance and they advised me to call the police to file a report. they told me that since it was after the fact they wouldnt do anything and since it was partialy in his driveway it was considered privte property. I called state farm back and they can file a claim under my insurance but untill we figure out who his insurance is i have to pay my deductible and the funny thing is i just got a new 6 month contract and i decided to get the $1000 deductible and i no longer have rental car access FML

Jinxed nothing. I got experience in these matters and anyone who doesn't give up the insurance info right away is not always keen in taking care of something they feel was either not their fault or should cost a lot less than they thought it would. Getting a lawyer to deal with insurance might be cheaper that paying $1k deductible. Many will hit up the other side to cover some of their fees.

why can't he still do this? does that have to be done immediately?

Also, i know that in the state of MA, it's illegal to hit a parked car, even if that car is parked illegally (say double parked in the middle of the road). Not sure what state you're in, but i would imagine most states are like that.

I'd stay away from your insurance. I'm not an expert in the field, but would think that once you're paying deductibles and having them pay for stuff, that your rates would go up. maybe someone else can chime in on that.

Well, since insurance companies are always trying to find a way not to pay, you can be sure they will go after the other guys insurance to pay for this.

My insurance said that the clqims depot is gonna give me a call sometime today there gonna listen to the story take pictures and to figure out his insurance info.....my state farm agent said if i wanted it to get fixed ASAP i would pay the deductible... If this ever happens again im calling the cops right then and then...
