Mazdaspeed3. prototype car. 2014 or 2015 |
2014 is definitely a no go and most likely 2015 is in the same boat. With Mazda reintroducing the RX-7 and working diligently on their new turbo diesel, I don't see them forking out a new Speed platform for a couple years. Plus, it's been rumored a mazdaspeed 6 will be the next biggun to run again. But what do I know... |
^ yeah don't think it's going to happen for a while. I hope they do make a speed6 it would look amazing with the new styling. |
The more pictures i see of the new Speed the more i'm starting to like the silly green on my gen2. |
Need a CP-E turbo kit for the 2.5 Skyactiv and the sexy 2800lb curb weight of the '14. No need to wait for Mazda. Not sure what you'd do to hide that hideous bubble butt, though. |
Speed6 with the new styling would be so sexy. I'm okay waiting a few years for the next speed though |
I dunno...i thought us gen poo's had lots of overhang but i saw a new 3 today and holy overhang. I don't know if its the shape because i doubt its substantially more than ours but the overhang just sticks out in this new model. A speed variant won't help with the looks... http://photo.netcarshow.com/Mazda-3_2014_photo_32.jpg |
The new hatch is 1.6" wider than the pu, .6" lower, 1.8" shorter, with a 2.4" longer wheelbase. So, 4.2" less overhang. How much front and back, idk. But yeah don't count on a new speed any time soon. If/when it happens, I believe the 6 will be first. Also don't count on a super light speed3 - the base 2.0 gen3 may be 2800 lbs, but the base 2.0 pu is only 100 lbs heavier. I think they might manage 3000-3100 lbs with a 2.0 turbo. If it's twin-scroll, still a better setup than the pu. |
This is the first ive ever heard someone mention mazda working on a new rx7. If they are that would be sweet as long as they do it right. I would expect mazda to have the current mazda3 model out for 2 maybe 3 years before a performance model drops. Any longer than that and they would already have a new refreshed model about to debut. Id expect a speed3 by 2015 if they are going to make one with this current model and we will will definitely hear about it atleast in 2014 |
I'll keep my Pu. DAAAAANKS |
really? they just took this http://news4cars.files.wordpress.com...otype-2013.jpg and combined it with this http://www.thetorquereport.com/2009_...tback_new3.jpg tweeked it a bit and made an awful rendering fake and gay |

New RX-7? Really? hmmmmmm lol |
The Mustang looks too Ford Fusion-Y. I don't believe that RX-7 rumor for a minute though |

New Rx7 posts have been popping up for years. I will believe it when I see a real car. -Derrick |

I've never been one to trade cars in on a whim, the Speed3 was the first one I ever financed, but a twin turbo diesel speed6 with RWD or AWD, I'd be at the dealer in a heartbeat. |

You would seriously trade in a new 2013 MS3 if Mazda releases a Gen III car? I can't wrap my head around this mindset. I hate this 'cult of the new' shit that people do with cars. With the amount of money and time that it takes to pay a car off - usually the most expensive thing any of us own next to a house - it makes no sense. Build and enjoy the car you already have. It's already the meanest hot hatch ever released in the US, and whatever comes next is likely to be more tame, since Mazda cannot survive on niche cars anymore now that Ford is no longer a partner. |
I hope a speed6 comes out. But with a gas powered DISI engine that's either just updated or the same as we have now. Not a fan of the deisel. I would stock out/trade in for that because AWD and because mid-size sedan. My car is almost paid off now too. |

I think Mazda will survive without ford. Every review I have seen the new 6 is in the top if not the top in the mid size sedan segment. The new 3 is also getting very good reviews as is the CX5. Mazda just needs to get people away from the better established brands like toyota and ford. If I was a car sales guy and someone was looking at cars in the same segments as Mazda I would try and talk them into test driving the Mazda. That alone should sell then over the competitors Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk |

I'll get our engineers to talk to their engineers and see if he can get anything out of them. Ill post up finding when or if I find out more. |
Some more info via google. There is also a clubsport6 Mazda 3 and 6 concepts at the 2013 SEMA show - Autoweek http://wot.motortrend.com/1311_mazda...g_fashion.html The Club Sport 3 concept starts with the Mazda 3 hatchback and adds an aerodynamic package that's actually fairly restrained -- probably because it's sourced from Mazda itself. The kit, which features front, rear and side diffusers and a slightly bolder rear spoiler, will be available worldwide. Mazda hasn't yet released pricing information. The Club Sport 3 enjoys more powertrain modifications than the other three concepts, with its 2.5-liter gasoline engine (the larger of the two available powerplants) mated to a six-speed manual transmission derived from the gearbox in the CX-5. A shorter 4.7:1 final drive ratio, a Wavetrac helical limited-slip differential, a CUSCO coilover kit and a Racing Beat performance exhaust round out the package. Like all of Mazda's 2013 SEMA show concepts, the Club Sport 3 gets Brembo brakes with drilled brake rotors. Like the Club Sport 3, the Club Sport 6 gets a Mazda-sourced aerodynamic kit and a paint job set off by Club Sport graphics. Rays 57 Motorsport 20-inch black wheels and Yokohama tires complete the exterior package. Unlike the Club Sport 3, the 6 gets the Skyactiv-D 2.2-liter diesel powerplant; Mazda does note that it is the Eurospec version of the engine, not the one destined for eventual US release. Why this matters from the perspective of the SEMA show floor, we're not exactly sure -- attendees are probably more likely to be gawking at the Mazda Design aero kit than they are to be peeking under the hood. |

I actually had a long conversation with someone in planning at Mazda about the 2.5 engines. It is an if at this point which sucks. It means if I want a 2.5 MT I will have to make one from a Mazda 6. -Derrick |

Maybe a few hundred of us should get together with cash in hand and storm their US headquarters demanding the car be built. If it could be willed into existence, it would exist based on my intent to buy one alone :-) |
