Modified Car Group Test

7 Attachment(s)
I recently got a call from my tuner asking if he could borrow my car for modified car group test that a national weekly car magazine, Autocar, were doing. I was only too happy to lend my car as i got some free suspension out of the deal, but it wasn't fitted at the time of the test.
Thought you guys might be interested to read what they have to say so have attached some screen shots as you won't be able to buy the mag in the USA. Though you can buy a digital copy at Autocar | First for car news and car reviews.

What hurt my in-gear times was my large core FMIC, it is a bit laggy when you put your foot down, though that can be overcome on the road by just going WOT a fraction early, so it's either a TMIC or big turbo to sort the car out. The tester said that the other cars would shoot off, then mine would quickly catch them up, but by then the test was over.

Nice one mate, congrats on getting it published. Talk to me about the BBR tune , is it similar to what they do here in the states via bolt ons and maps ? I saw their stage one with just a map was yielding good figures.

He uses Ecutek, the tuner bought a car and ran it with various mods for 6 months to test how everything works then sold packages of different mods with a custom map to suit. He's done a fair few forged engines and big turbos too so knows his stuff.
The gains are pretty similar to what i've seen on here, just we have metric BHP and you have imperial WHP. Stage 1 (just a map) is +15% over stock, Stage 2 (Map, intake, DP) is +25% and stage 3 (add hybrid turbo and FMIC) is +37% over stock.
I'm sure much more is possible but he keeps it in the 'safe zone' so to speak as blown engines can damage a tuners reputation, i'm also not that fussed about ringing the car neck to coax another 20bhp out of it as it's a daily driver.
Mine has done nearly 40k miles since he tuned it.
He also gets a bit of business doing personal cars from the guys next door.
