Moved to EVO GSR; mint MS3 traded (TX) For anyone interested - I moved on to an EVO GSR on Monday and my '11 Titanium Speed 3 is at Don Herring in Plano TX. It has 2,163 miles total - non-tech - and is about as mint as you'll ever find a used one. No affiliation with said dealer & nothing in it for me. Contributor(paying) to this forum and will continue following the MS3 over the next few years. Edit: non-smoker; garaged 100% of the time; NEVER saw a drop of rain; NO MODS; and oil changed 3 times in 2100 miles. |
Lol hate the 3 that much? Why so soon? |
Still a pu though....lol Grats on the new car...post some pics. |
Just the opposite Helmut - and thx Predapio. Love the Speed3 - but it was a weekend/fun car only as the GSR will be. Still have a Protege 5 and have had every Speed model Mazda ever produced along with 3 Miata's through the years. I don't mind the FWD in my daily beater, but I'm looking for an all-out/raw driving feeling again like the original Miata's were famous for. I don't give two about a few rattles, leather interior, nav, or anything else these days. Hell, take the damned pw/pl away from everything and I'd be even happier. I know most insist the VIII and IX are the best cars Mitsu ever produced, but I see some of that as sour grapes like the GenJuan/GenPu arguments here. We all want something new when it comes down to it. :wink1: |
Congrats on the new Evo, for sure post up pics. Now you and Darksun can be bff's. |
Lets see it man! I'm probably going this route soon.. |
Because to much $ in bank account? |
Sick and agree on the toys in cars these days! whatever happened to power windows and locks and thats it? Now its dual clutch this (lazy), dual zone climate (wtf same cabin?), headlights that turn while you turn?? lol |
Oil changed 3 times in 2100? Also it might help to know what they gave you for it so someone knows the profit margin and get a good deal, might not idk throwing it out there? |

For quick sale - maybe they'd take a little under $20k - let's leave it as they have over 19k in it. It has almost exactly 2 yrs of the 3\36 left and of course the balance of the 5/60 powertrain left. |
Welcome to the promise land my friend. Fyi keep a credit card with 5k emergency funds free if your going to mod and race the evo. You know, just in case. Not saying just saying........ |

Everyone else looking for pics - it's just a stock 12 GSR in wicked white right now. For now.:saroll: |
And in the best color, nice! |
Congrats on the new car. I'm actually thinking of going the same route as you and trading in my MS3 for the Evo. Good luck with it, and I'm sure that 3 will find a new home very quickly. |
Why do the gen one owners have so much hate towards the Gen two? It looks so much better then the gen one in all aspects. Everytime a post is made regarding a gen two, its....oh its a gen pu, get rid of it,. Piece of shit. I dont understand. You guys are driving the same damn car, so what the f gives? Oh yeah, I dont like Evo's. Waste of money. Its like a toyota corolla with a turbo. My next car: Subaru BRZ. No HP, but who the hell cares. |
lol^ |

@BiggestPapi You've had every speed model ever produced? So you've owned an MSP, MSM, MS6, MS3 genone and gentwo..... |
So you bought an Evo X and you say "I'm looking for an all-out/raw driving feeling again" You picked the wrong generation my man. Did u not see Darky's fail? Mine has 130,000 miles running 500hp for over 40,000 on stock motor and drivetrain. Just saying yo. Evo X's do have better interior and I do still love them nonetheless |

At least with the Evo, you can just slap a shitload of bolt-ons and turbo upgrades without a tune. Hell, setting the MBC to 40 PSI might make it fast enough to catch @Erich.... |

What do I win? It's a feeler but I've met him he'll sell lol |
~2100 miles in what 18 months? That's not a weekend car! That's a proper driver collecting dust! I hope to Gawd that when I get in my 50s or 60s that I don't just buy cars to look at them or to say I have them, or to take to Lowe's parking lot on Friday nights car gatherings to lean against. |
1 Attachment(s) Congrats on the move to a GSR, great cars with a ton of potential. It was very hard for me choosing when I got rid of the MS3 but choose against the EVO for my Vette. I will still get an Evo at some point as driving one of my buddies old Evo, there is just something about those cars. Here is what looks like a plan pic of his Evo until you try and run against him and he's running 9's. Buschur built. |

Adding more power would just mean you could only open it up / run it through the gears for short 3-4 seconds burst at a time before exceeding posted limits, being arrested for reckless driving, losing your license, etc. Subaru hooked the BRZ up with relatively skinny 215/45/17 tires for the same reasons. Wider / stickier tires would just mean you could post a quicker lab time around the track not make the BRZ more fun to drive. What many folks don't seem to get is that these cars with all kinds of power and extremely high limits aren't much fun to drive on a daily bases. You have to be on a race track to exploit the limits of such cars. Doing so on most public roads would only result in eventually losing your license or worse. So it's basically a waste unless you spend most of your time at a race track. The Mazda MX-5 isn't one of the best driver's cars because it has a lot of power. It's one of the best driver's cars because it has easily exploitable limits. You don't have to be going balls to the wall around a race track to enjoy driving one. Also, its not like the current generation MX-5 Miata is any worse to drive than the original Miata. Sure it's gained about 300lbs but it's gained a lot more power in the process improving its power to weight ratio. It still easily remains one of the best driver's cars on the road today. I mention the MX-5 because the 2013' Subaru BRZ / Scion FR-S have much of the same characteristics. There are many cars faster than the MX-5 / BRZ / FR-S but few nearly as fun / rewarding to drive. This is why saying such and such car is somehow "superior" because it has "X" amount of HP, runs "X" 0-60, etc is rather pointless in comparing cars. The #'s don't even begin to scratch the surface when it comes to evaluating how good a sports car is. The MX-5 is a perfect example. --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?lqgqm2 |

I love both Evos and STi's but, for the money, I'm shocked more don't go the Corvette route. 7k supercharger/tune and your in the 9's with tire. Though you might break the rear attempting.... :tapedshut: |

What am I arguing? I love EVOs. I just think you're a homo. Just like your muscle car homo friends. That's all. There are certainly many homos on an EVO out there faster than my FWD donkey but it holds fairly well on a road course against them. 35k+? I will eat your moms corn hole if you find an EVO that has invested less money in it than my MS3 and is faster on a road course. Doesn't exist buddy. Well, actually I'd eat your mom's corn hole even if you don't. lol Min 4:30 For EVO man to man love. I have a lot of this if you want. |

Vid is not for you. It's for the MS3 owners so they know EVO drivers are homos. And I'd leave you crying if you ever met me with your 18K EVO on a road course. Don't feel bad though. You wouldn't be the first one. |
