my blacked out headlight

so couple days ago i decided to list my headlights to trade it for stock 2010+ headlights. i asked stock headlights +$200. another member who's interested posted but says the money on top was steep in his opinion.

what was done to my headlight

- opened and painted chrome housing to black
- swap OEM projector lens to TRS clear projector lens
- sealed properly

$60 for the lens. about $15 for the paints + sealant then around $20 each to ship back unless it's locally

I would only ask for the $60 in return for the TRS lens. $200 Is a little steep IMO. Sealant is $5 bucks, paint a little more.

damn I was planning on doing the exact mods you did to the headlight as I have opened my previous 6, maxima and Elantra headlights, and want to get this done.

The price is higher than I would pay but for someone inexperienced they are getting the work and piece of mind of it already assembled. So long as it is not leaking, broken tabs etc.. which it looks like you do not have.

yeah, i'd say $200 is fair, especially considering the cost of the lenses and the time involved.

My opinion is that is too much. You don't trade/sell a car and ask more because it has modifications. Same goes for parts in my mind. Maybe 50-100 because its unique and good.

I'd say somewhere between $100-$200 is fair since it includes the extra parts and all the time that goes in to doing it correctly.

i think someone will pay it. if i didnt know how to do it and risk the chance of damaging and it leaking. but i did mine myself..

not very hard if you know what you're doing. just be careful installing so you won't chip the lens

will $100 + stock headlights much reasonable if i just offer this locally? that way both side will avoid shipping?

Just did the math the stupid ass I am.

60x2=120
15x2=30
20x2=40

But the sealant and paint can prob be used on 2 plus sets maybe even 3 sets. I think 20 a light is steep considering the person would actually be out 40.00 to ship their own lights. You are looking at someone paying 440 for" done" lights.

@VRM_MS3 What kind/size rims are those? They are super fresh and look great/would look great on a liquid silver ms3. Love the spoke pattern, color, & lip.

Also what %tint do you have in.that picture?

cutoff are the same since i didn't modify the cutoff shield. but lights are brighter and wider than stock. also the wire mod also give the cutoff a blue hint. i posted some pics on top.

i actually wanted to do something else to the headlights. so instead of opening this one again, i thought about gauging interest first to see if someone want the blacked out headlights.

Fwiw, I think the lights look fantastic. Idk about paying 200 plus giving up my stock headlights though. But then again, not many people are looking for stock headlights. If you can find someone local it would be a much better deal for both parties. Shipping charges suck.
