My car got towed So today i walk outside my condo complex and my car is gone!!!!!! Turns out management told towing company my plate is expired. Long story short i renewed plate but did not received sticker. I asked cop about it few months back and he said don't worry bc they ran plate and not looking at the sticker. My question is should i worry about some damage that might be caused by towing i.e. alignment? Towing company said they used proper equipment……. SOOOO PISSED |
I'd wait until you get the car back, if you haven't already, before you jump to the conclusion that anything was damaged. Once you have it back, look over everything thoroughly. Pay attention to any area that could be used as a lift or tow point. |

I'd just check it out similar to how you would a used car. If you notice anything different, troubleshoot from there and see if it was something from them towing it. |

I fucking hate them and i had to pay $200 |
Man, you condo sucks! How would they feel if you withheld $200 from their rent. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Tapatalk |
Personally if it was me and you feel they were in the wrong, I'd lawyer up.....but it doesn't sound like you have much of a case really. Are you talking about their "stickers" or actual vehicle registration? |

That's fucking garbage. Please tell me what right the condo association has checking license plates for expiration? GTFO of here with that bullshit. Withhold $200 from your next rent check and tell them exactly why. It would make sense if the license plate or vehicle didn't match one registered with a parking pass or reserved spot, but checking the sticker? That's bullshit. I had my car towed from work. Towing companies are crooks. They had the car for less than 2 hours and it cost me $135. Scum of the earth. |

#InB4CondoManagmentSlaughterOnNews Also very curious to see what happens here.... |
So, most of the draconian ‘apartments’ I have lived in had assigned spots for parking and they knew the vehicles... is this the case where you reside? your vehicle was operable, and legally licensed, they might rely on stickers to guess and/or confirm that but clearly they were wrong. I suppose it will come down to how their ‘tow’ rules are written (do they call out registered or registered with valid stickers?) It is entirely possible they get or have gotten a kickback for using a ‘preferred’ tower.. I think there is more to this story. |

Lawyer here - unless it is explicit in your lease that they can tow your vehicle for this type of reason, I'd make hell about it. Talk to management and let them know you'll be withholding money from your rent. |

Our HOA will check for current license plates on cars parked on property as well. My thinking is to comply with some state laws. Where I think the HOA messed up was not contacting you directly or at least putting a note on your car so you could talk to them about your situation directly and show them proof that you're taking care of it. Sounds like the HOA gets a kickback from the towing company for towing vehicles from the property. |
F' HOAs and F' Condo management! I have more than one vehicle that is Way out of date on registration and a tractor up on blocks, and No worries. Sorry for your headaches bro. I would definitely look at the fine print and raise a stink even if it is stated in the fine print. That is just stupid. Document that you had paid to renew the registration, then I'd take the towing charge and alignment charge and any other repair charges out of the next rent payment. |
Thanks all it makes me feel better cause I'm pissed off |
You're still pissed? I would pull the sticker off the managers car and call a towing company pretending you are calling on behalf of condo management. Fight fire with fire. See how he likes it. It will make you feel better, until they pull that camera footage and catch you. Better wear a mask. Sent from my iPhone 6 |

Make sure they didn't scratch up your paint  Get a free professional detail out of it. And I'm not talking about one of those $150 quick details. Get a $500+ job |
Im going to get alignment done this weekend. And i got the sticker for fuck sake, and not paying $200 for the next rent :) Thanks all!!!!! |
Glad it turned out well for you man. I would recommend thinking about moving unless other aspects of where you live are great and it's just this one thing that went wrong, but then I realized you said it's a condo (which I take to mean that you own as opposed to renting) which would make moving more of a hassle. This is common sense, and not something you should even feel the need to say to the property management in a perfect world, but I would tell them verbally and in writing that if there are ever any other instances in which they believe they need to take any sort of corrective action against you that you want them to contact you beforehand. It's common fucking courtesy, even if it isn't a legal issue, though your HOA (I know it isn't called that, but whatever it's called at a condo) rules may already specify a certain procedure that needs to be followed. I'd also warn you that they might look for little technical rule infringements against you now, since you stuck up for yourself. I get paranoid about those things, mainly because I'm a vindictive asshole. |
