First gear......... fine second gear........... fine brake for stop sign........... "HOLY SHIT DID SOMEONE HIT US?" "no, i just tapped the brakes" "wtf is wrong with you? LIGHTLY!!!" she came from a 1981 accord where it was free-pedal about halfway down. |
Let little brother (@mingenyx) drive my car: "This is slow! My Your tires work in third gear?"...was still dialing in my e85. And he was goign through his stock tires with his power mods... Let girl I was sorta seeing drive it, she had a good time with it since it was after an autoX day and she was there in her Ion. |

Times are tough and fuel is expensive (lame excuse, but anyways)... I know this sounds counter-intuitive for buying this car, but I try employ hyper-miling techniques whenever possible... moderate acceleration, slow approach to lights if I anticipate them being green when I get there, coasting on neutral, etc. I always feel like I'm playing some game against my car to try to squeeze as much mileage on the tank. Best fuel economy I've found is on a flat road going around 80km/h (50mph) on 6th gear, usually average about 5.0L/100km or 47MPG. It's a habit I picked up from driving my previous car, I guess I can't kick the habit of trying to be fuel efficient yet. Don't get me wrong, I drive fast too, it's the whole reason why I bought the car (plus I love the look of the genpu), but I don't want to drive fast all the time. Usually when I floor it for about half a km, I see the distance I can drive usually drop between 10-20kms haha |

Two people have driven my car: -Roommate: Has an Accord coupe, V6 6spd; I needed a ride to the airport so I took my car and he drove it home; when I got out I told him no WOT before 3k. Asked him later how it compared to his car; he said it felt "different"... while smiling ear to ear, lol. FYHN -Girl I was banging for a while: I was shitfaced one night so I got her to drive me/the car home and drop some friends off. She said the clutch was very different from her Rio (lol) but didn't stall it once. She was doing fine, then I told her to "fuck off babying it... the car is a slut, it likes it rough". With that she kicked it down to third and redlined it; she was driving like a fucking champ. Burned half a tank of gas that night; I fucked her after that harder than I ever did before or after. I'm kinda-sorta-maybe seeing another girl now (my life is fucking tangly lol) who wants to drive it; has a 5spd civic and used to hang out with a big integra/240zx crowd; I'm interested to see how she compares to the last one :smokin: |
Wife daily drives the red car. Shes in love with it. I load the miles on the black car. Its the beater. I have handed the keys to the red car over to a couple different friends before. I once had to take one of their cars to work to do some maintenance on it and they had the car overnight. I dont have dumbass friends and would trust most of them to take my car overnight |
The wife drives mine and it's acquired a scrape on the bumper which has been fixed and some kurb rash but she's not owning up to that |
Wife was complaining about not driving my car before any mods, now that I've done a few she's afraid to. Once this snow is gone she'll have another opportunity...I think it's sexy if a chick can drive a manual transmission well. |
I've let the wife drive it and she refused to let it spool. I told her to get on a nice straight road, and start with 4th at 3k, and then when she felt comfortable, go to 3rd and start at 3k, etc.. In 4th, as soon as the turbo started to make noise and remotely pull, she let off. Never even made full boost. Lol. |
Let my dad drive the speed. Drove it like a 90 year old man. Let my uncle drive it he's been racing for decades builds his own race cars from the ground up blah blah blah, had a shit eating grin on his face cause non of his 8 second camaros or chevelle's can corner for shit. Let my ex drive the car, goodbye second gear. I know... I deserve it... My gf now is pregnant and still has a hard time watching her speed in my car. She's been driving stick for years and drives it very well. Girls driving stick like a boss=:hump: |

The red-spotted seats are okay, but I don't really care and when you sit down you don't really see it anyways. Compared to my wife's Yaris, the Mazdaspeed 3 seats are WAY more comfortable (wife agrees because she can actually fall asleep in them) and holds you in decently while turning. They are not Recaro seats, but I like the look of them better than the GTI's lumberjack plaid. But I do want to try the Ford ST just to see what the interior fuss is about. But back on topic... no one else has driven my car yet.. except for the sales guy who drove my car to fill up the tank for me. Wife is too scared to drive my car because she's worried about how the clutch would be very different. |
^^ I think there's a good amount of truth to that. It's the same with the torque steer "issue". Reviewers talk about it non-stop and people become convinced that it is either a bad thing, or more problematic than it actually is. I LOVE the torque steer. It reminds me that I'm driving a sporty car and makes me feel connected. If all you want is A to B with a disconnected feel and boring styling, get a Yaris, right? ;) |
I'm "okay" with the torque-steer and agree that it is a little overblown by the magazine editors and such, but how anyone can consider it a good thing is beyond me. |
i have to beg my wife to dirve my car. i love it when she does because that';s fucking sexy. also, she is very careful and never speeds. she has driven both my cars and likes the speed3 better. she always complains about how her car is so slow compared to mine (hers skyactiv 3 hatch) now she's pregnant and she still drives it every once in a while. |

So the night I bought my car I had my dad drive it home. I was to damn tired to learn stick on the highway. I trust my dad since he is a truck driver. he owned a 1971 cougar with a 351C engine (stick) he also ownd a 1971 dogde duster with the 6pack racing engine (slap stick) so I had complete confidence driving my newly bought car. As for my mom, grandma, and my 3 sister they never touched my car. this past may I got rear ended and couldt move my car I asked my dad to move it. he goes I aint driving ur car its urs, then I told him and he drove it again. im just glad he moved it so I didn't get towed ahaha |
Welp, since it's been revived, fuck it: My MS3... The first day I had it, my Uncle Dan, who I live with, wanted to drive it. He's had a porsche 911, saab 900 turbo, 82 corvette, and on top of that, worked in the automotive field(sales) for years. Now, he's 68 and hasn't driven stick since the early 90's, so I was a bit nervous, but he helped me get the car so I kinda couldn't say no. He did ride the fuck out of the clutch taking off a few times, but other than that he actually drove it like a boss and was lovin it. I let one or 2 of my close friends drive it, but that's really it. I'm not one to let people drive my cars. Took my dad, who drives race cars with big block, 800hp v8's going 120mph through turns, in it and multiple friends of his told me he was scared in it lmao. My Cobra: Ha, I do not let ANYONE drive it. Only exception was @STI_LOL; because I always drive his MS3, and my parents' neighbor, who has had 5 other mustangs on top of his current 01 GT. He was loving it. Didn't even go WOT, only about 3/4 throttle and he was happy as could be. |

My buddy just got an 03 Cobra with a 2.8 kenne bell and good lord is that a fun car. That actually changed my decision on my next car. The only issue is with me being 19, it'd be interesting to see the insurance rates if I'd get a cobra. haha tl;dr; My car: 06 speed 6 Next car: 03-04 mustang cobra :rocketwhore: |

There's only 2 people that have driven my car other than me. My Father and @mzr0818; My Dad loves it, I'm always telling him he should get one. My friends (and friends of friends) are always asking to drive it. Never going to happen |

My wife let the car pull 2+ feet off the road when she was test driving. I give our Mazda salesman props for not going apeshit, but he knew the sale was already in the bag. What was meant to be a "sell it to the wife" visit turned out to be my wife saying "buy that car now!". She hasn't driven it since it was tuned, but I've taken her for several rides while logging and playing with DSC/SWAS disable. She's fully aware why I'm gay for my car and Nator. |
LoL entertaining thread. My car...I generally don't let anyone drive it although there have been a few exceptions: Dealership - unfortunate fact of life. Although I did a ride along with one of the techs to troubleshoot a suspension noise. I drove first and he was really loving the sound of the BPV and such. Then he drove it, was laughing and smiling. Every time he went near the throttle, it was a woah this thing goes...even a merge in 6th gear from like 90km/h, he said wow my skyactiv doesn't even do anything when I put my foot down in 6th. Neighbour - Huge car guy, more so than me and generally had a half dozen cars on the go with various turbo/supercharged type things. So one nice sunday evening decided we'd swap cars and go for a spin. I rode shotgun and let him drive, guy kept saying it felt like a go-kart because of how it handled and braked...he took it up pretty high in 4th and even got out and did some WOT flybys so I could hear it. Brakes were a little smelly after but he was good with the car. I got to drive an older something or other of his, can't remember what...some domestic...but was a decently quick car. Chick from university - Known her like 10 years, drives manual quite well and just generally trust her. She's driven the car twice...once while it was essentially stock, actually got her to do a few seconds of WOT in 2nd before she got scared and backed off and laughed/giggled for the next hour :) second time she drove was when I was stage 2 but running OTS still...couldn't get her to go WOT in any gear, kept trying to tell her to get on it but she couldn't handle it lol she loves it though and always asks me how the "beast" is. It's so awesome watching her drive it though. In general it seems everyone who does get behind the wheel of a speed 3 leaves just giggling or smiling. There's something about these cars that is just wayyy too fun and intoxicating. |
My wife got about 20 feet, conked out twice and said "F" this car, later I got her to drive it correctly in case of emergencies but generally she hates it. Suits me fine cause whenever we go anywhere together she drives, 3 1/2 year old car and I just hit 30,000 miles. On the rare occasion we do take my car I scare the shit out of her so its a good couple weeks before she'll want another ride, school teachers! Lol |
I promised my roommate to let him drive it after I got it. He'd driven a manual for about 8 years so I figured that he'd be alright. I told him the clutch engaged quickly compared to what he was used to. We started on the slight incline that is our driveway. He proceeded to stall the car six times in a row while trying to start in first gear. Oddly, a year later he "doesn't remember that". He's got a brz now though so he's probably too cool to ever do something like that. |
first week i owned my speed, i let one of my good friends drive it. he drives an automatic but also rides bikes a lot so i thought he had a good feel of driving stick in the car. nope. every time he started in first gear he revved to like 3000, and you could smell clutch burning. he had to turn around in a parking lot once, and hooooly shit did he burn it up. i finally got back in the drivers seat and noticed the friction point on the clutch was now a little later. that was the last time anyone but me was in the drivers seat. lesson learned |

The first month that I had my car, I let my sister drive my car.. bad idea. My rear left rim came back with a big scrape/dent. >[ Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2 |

It's not a fast car by today's standards. |
Z34, that sounds about right...it was a manual...and no it wasn't nearly fast. He's big into that body style though, has a turbo grand prix which is pretty quick but haven't driven that one. |
I offered to take my dad for a ride today and as we were approaching my car, all he said was "I thought I was driving". So I took him around the block, giving it a little throttle to show him its quick, pulled over, and let him take it for a spin. My dad has owned quick cars since his 20s, lots of Mustangs, and currently has a G35 coupe. So I figured he would know how to drive it. The first thing he asked was "How hard have you been on it?" I didn't lie and replied "Well I drive it like a racecar." We got out on the main road and he was launching from stops and shifting off the rev limiter. Lets just say that was the first and last time anyone else is driving my speed. |
Let my friend drive it about a month after I bought it since he taught me how to drive stick back in the day, lol well 130 mph later on the interstate he just looks at me I've still not topped 130 yet 2 120 runs but thats about it LOL |
I let my dad drive my car once..... http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/foru...88723398_n.jpg |

On a bright side thought, I din't know we have those "curtain" air bags :) EDIT: Wait! @tornado842; when did that happen? Did it happen in TX? Did you fix the car or insurance took it? The reason I'm asking, is because I have bought my Gen1 (same color) used and with rebuilt title. She came from TX and had "side damage"... However, she came with stock (non painted) rims, Cobb SRI and TIH.. that's it.. Who knows, may it was your car :) |
