(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score My dad (68 years old) took my MS3 out today for errands since his car has no gas and Sandy has wreaked havoc on gas stations everywhere. He owned a GTO in the 60s and a VW GTI MkII in the 80s so he's not unfamiliar with sporty cars. He came back and we had the following conversation: ME: So, how do you like the car? HIM: Well. First gear is useless. ME: I know, it's a complaint I've had since day 1. HIM: The ride is a bit stiff. ME: Sports suspension, what do you expect? So you hate it? HIM: Well. I did pass a lot of people. Going really fast. I may have wasted a lot of your gas. If you want to start using my car more often, I'll look after yours. ME: HAHAHAHA. I knew you'd like it! Then, a few hours later, he came into my room and said, "OH, I forgot to tell you, there's something wrong with your car, I think. Every time you accelerate hard in second gear it yanks to the right. It's dangerous. You're sure your alignment is good??" I laughed and explained torque steer. I guess he could be a magazine reviewer since he harped on it! My girlfriend was learning stick-shift on my old car, and I haven't been willing to let her behind the wheel of the MS3 just yet. This weekend may change that as she might need my car to go babysit since hers has no gas. We'll see. My mom hasn't driven my Speed yet, thank God. She'll either crash it, or never give it back. TIS

| Not Ranked : 0 score No one in my family touches my car. Reason being if one of them blows it up, I'll never hear the end of "you should have never put those parts on your car, blah blah blah turbocharged cars are bad all they do is blow up" And they will never pay for it if it does. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score My dad gave me shit when I was still learning stick on mine. Bone stock, let him drive it. I told him its quick and he didn't wanna believe me. Smiled the whole time, referred to it as "deceivingly fast" hasn't drove it since its tuned, but I took him for a ride. Holy shit was his response lol. My pap, stepdad, and mom drove it too. If I know they can drive stick ill let them drive it while I'm in the car.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I taught my wife's brother how to drive stick on my MS3. He stalled it alot. Took at 180 degree turn at about 40, engaged the clutch to try and slow down and never took foot off gas pedal. Not too concerned. I owned a seriously worked Cummins before the MS3, performance and replacement parts for the MS3 price wise are a dick fart into the wind compared to the Cummins. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I let a fellow MSF member drive my car once. That wont be happening again. My advice to him after the drive was: Sell your speed and look into public transportation. He hasn't been around since. Mom, Dad, GF, or any other family, they can ride in it. I drive. End of story. |

| My dad, mom, brother, and ex have all driven my car. They're all old-hands at driving stick, so I wasn't worried about the clutch, as they learned its uptake pretty quickly. I used to drive about 800 miles each weekend, so my dad would swap cars with me since his was a lease with unlimited mileage and free repairs (through Ford). The first weekend we pulled this swap was shortly after I had installed my SRI and began tuning for it. When I got back, I asked him what he thought. "Well, it certainly makes some more interesting noises now, but it feels faster. Don't worry, I limit myself to one WOT run up through 3rd or maybe part of 4th each weekend." My mom enjoyed it, for the most part, but she's so short (5'2" that she had trouble seeing out of the back of the car). My brother...well...I think he's still kicking himself for getting an Impreza (no, not the STI or the WRX), instead of an MS3 or MS6. He's got a bit of a lead foot in my car, but I don't mind. The ex always almost went through the windshield the first time she'd touch the brakes. Her '00 Mercury Cougar's were terrible by comparison.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Nothing. I stopped him before he could do any damage. It was apparent from the start, this guy couldn't drive and had no business in a car like this. I'm still ashamed I let him start the damn thing. This was years ago, he's long gone. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score word...my dad toasted my clutch with repeated attempts to head up the street which is a fairly steep hill, in mine while in 3rd gear. hes driven a stick all his life but managed to totally take 15-20K miles off the clutch in about 15 minutes. Smelled like baby shit burnt clutch for a week after.. Had to replace it at 30K miles...he did the damage @ around 15k...lol needless to say when my wife asks me to teach her to drive a stick in my car i LOL...very much....she is not amused one bit.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I bought my MS3 sight unseen. Well, except for a few internet photos. My dad was local to it, however, so I had him go give it a look and take it for a drive. He gave it the thumbs up, and, when it comes to cars, his opinion is every bit as valid to me as my own. Wife has driven it since as well. I taught her on the GTO and now she drives a Chevy Cruze with a stick. Being pregnant, she'll be getting plenty of seat time as the DD ![]() If anyone ever asks me to take my car for a spin, I don't object, provided they are competent enough to drive a stick. Same went with the GTO. I taught a few people the basics in that car. I have always loved my cars and take care of them, but no harm in sharing the experience.

| Not Ranked : 0 score - Girlfriend drives my car when I'm drunk. She hates driving it as I back seat drive her all the way to our destination. - Mom drove it once. She has a bit of a lead foot but ironically dialed it back when she drove my car. Too scared to touch it anymore. - Sister moved it on the driveway once. I think that's all she'll get. - Dad drove it quite a few times. Told me its too damn fast and that I should sell it. Meanwhile, he has a 2010 Carrera 4S in the garage... - Some car enthusiast friends have driven it; maybe 4. They have cars equally as "valuable" so they understand what it is to drive something like the Speed.

I'm expecting him to let me drive the 6 when it's done There is 2-3 others I'll let drive, but until engine is built, am being picky

| Not Ranked : 0 score I couldn't drive the speed when I first bought it. I got a DWI, and my pops had to drive it about 45 miles so I could get my breathalyzer installed. Getting on the highway, he went WOT in 2nd.. Let's just say I had a feint wiff of shit when the steering wheel took on a mind of it's own. He hasn't driven it to this day. I let a buddy of mine drive it one day about 5 miles, he's been in the car with me plenty of times and knows it has plenty of power. He didn't even attempt to go WOT. I was feeling generous one day, and was willing to teach my GF how to drive. Let's just say I didn't let her get into first. The pain I felt as she was burning up the clutch in reverse was enough for me to drop kick her in the back of the face. While sitting. Mother is scared of it, along with my sister. PS- Getting AP, Catless DP, AT HPFP, SRI, and TIH, with RichTune within the next week. I want to see my dad's reaction then. 'Edit: Parts are already ordered. Awaiting install when I get off work Tuesday. :>

| Not Ranked : 0 score Wifey has driven my car twice, too much bourbon for me. One of the times we were on our way home she took a detour and got on the highway when we didn't need to. I said where we going she said on the highway this thing is fun. I told her it has six gears she said oh, stomped into it and hit sixth. I said we are going over 100 mph she said oh shit! That was when I realized her driving it alone wasn't going to happen.

| Not Ranked : 0 score When I just got the car I let one of my friends drive my MS3. He drives stick all his life, so he did good. But now non of my friends want to race me I would let my dad drive it, and he loves it! My step dad thought the car is broken and very dangerous (he is know it all) - since then I fixed the torque steer issue ![]() After about two weeks of owning the car, my mom drove it! She was scared of it, BUT handled the clutch/gas better then I did (at the time)!

| Not Ranked : 0 score My pops drove it when she was stock. Had clutch issues, but once he figured out the grab. Holy shit this is fast. Have let friends drive that know how to drive stick. I alway have to coach them on shifting too soon and then lugging. Only one has gone wot and driven twisties. Only wot with coaching: ok now slow down. Shift into 2nd, let that car go away. Speed up until 3k, then floor it, shift accordinly. He nearly shit himself and was so adrenalin pumped he couldn't do more than one run. I like letting friends drive affter each mod, that way the curious have a visceral understanding of what happened to it. If a friend totals it, gap is there. Would suck, but life happens. I won't teach non clutch drivers on her. Not the right platform. No way mom will drive, she is fucking scary in a slow car and is short. Step dad, maybe- he's usually too inhibited about what mom will think of him...lol Brother again not a chance. He drives a stick, but has no clue and is dangerous. Helped a future owner last weekend. He drove a juan had his heart set on a juan. When he saw my pu and drove it, he has changed his perspective. I do not like them driving when I'm not in the car. That has only happened 1 time. Moving, driving the truck, friend drove the speed. Sent from my sortasmart HTC

It's less of an event in the MS3 and she's only driven it a couple of times (only had it a month or so), but that she enjoys it and can handle a quick car is absolutely awesome.

| Not Ranked : 0 score My mom moved it in the driveway when I was home for a night and almost ran it into the back of a jeep. I was a asleep...she doesn't want to drive it again. I taught a friend to drive stick in it in a parking lot. Never gotten out of 3rd (maybe 4th) and barely used the gas. Lots of stalling though. taught the girlfriend to drive stick in it too...she never left second and never wants to drive it. Only other person to drive it was a friend from college with plenty of experience driving stick...I even let him get on it pretty good. Only reason I let him is that he let me take a spin in his 2012 camaro ss...worth it.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I asked my mom to drive it once... she said she didn't know how to drive a 6 speed. She daily drives a 5 speed. We are working on her excuses My dad I trust to drive it whenever, he has a speed6 @Masterofnone Fiance drives it all the time... used to have one @socks I went driving through the mountains with a few friends and traded on the way down with my friend who has an M3. We stopped at a gas station at the bottom and he gets out saying, that scares me and I can't figure out how to get the key out. A few years later he's at my house with a friend and we all leave but his silvia decided to disable itself so I tossed him the keys to the speed. Every time his friend sees me he talks about how much fun the speed is and how it spins through third.
